Six episodes in and I'm only left with one question, who did the director sleep with and/or pay off in university…
I'm watching this for Ping, but I think that all the actors are doing a decent job. Beam and Bright, who are talented too, share Ping's bad luck to play in weak productions. I did enjoy watching Ping and Tar Atiwat in the Pee Nak movies.
IMO Foei is a good actor, though. Okay, he was OTT in "Baker Boys", but he was very good in "The Player", "Double Savage", "10 Years Ticket", and "Manner of Death". None of these characters was one-dimensionally evil, and he delivered their ambiguity perfectly.
There are times (this show being one of them) that I think censorship causes them to be much more creative in…
I completely agree with this. It may sound a bit far fetched, comparing East German literature in communist times with a Chinese BL series, but East German authors and songwriters also found their subtle ways to give censorship the runaround, and everybody who wanted to understand did understand them. There are some scenes in this series I would call subversive.
I was a little confused. Maybe this had just too many threads given the short runtime. I have a feeling that it may be better to wait until all episodes have been released and watch them in one go.
After "Awkward Love", another beautiful short film from Pomthani, and proof that good writing, directing, and acting doesdn't need inner monologue, fourth wall, or even dialogue.
I think this must be the worst bl I'm watching now. Nothing really happens. I might just skip through fast the…
Chalarm is the only reason why I'm not dropping this, although he's just a copy of Good in LBC. Dino is one of the most unpleasant characters I've ever seen in a BL series.
Maybe my expectations were too high after watching all the teasers with actors like Jeff Chen and Xander Bailey, but I'm disappointed at this series, and I wonder how I stuck to it till the end. Maybe it was the cinematography which was okay, or the soundtrack, but the writing was poor - e.g. why make Andre bump into his alleged dad in L.A. (which is completely implausible to begin with) and never come back to this thread again? Why not make Andre bump into that agent Ethan sometime later in the series for a showdown? Why have Jeff Chen appear for barely more than a cameo, which, however, made the lead actors appear amateurish. Then a sister pops up who seems to care about her brother, and who could have helped fix his problem with his family, and even his relationship with Andre, but she disappears the same way she was suddenly there. How does Andre end up in N.Y.? Is he legal, did he even marry his beshie, and what does he do for a living? Too many loose ends for a series of almost 3 1/2 hours runtime. Then there's the main character Andre who is not only stupid, but also selfish and pathetic, simply unpleasant to watch.
I'm still wondering where this is heading, but I liked today's episode. I'm surprised at myself because I didn't like ghost stories before, but I loved the Pee Nak movies, I loved "Something in my Room" and "Ghost Host", and I'm beginning to love this one, too. One reason may be that in each of these shows there is one actor that I love and who seems to carry it- Tar Atiwat in "Pee Nak", Nut Supanut in SIMR, Boy in "Ghost House", and now Ping, whose acting IMO is amazing.
It's been a long time that I loved a series as much as I love this - it was probably two and a half years ago when I was waiting desperately for the next episode of ITSAY. The company that's going to produce the Thai adaptation of the book will have to work very hard to compete with this.
anyone else notice the ''Philadelphia'' poster on wu bi's wardrobe when he found the little boy in his room ?…
There's also the David Bowie Aladdin Sane album cover shortly before Wu Bi frees the little fat boy from hiding in the closet. The coloured panes in their flat aren't a coincidence either.
I will miss this series for sure. They say happy ending ? well, we'll give you that and then we'll do the ending…
I already thought that something must be wrong with me, because I liked this series. I'm glad I'm not alone. So many evil people in one house - that was fun to watch, and imo the acting was better than in many other Thai BL series.
