I don't think Ning treats Xie Wei like a villain. She's been defending him to Zhang Zhe these past episodes, saying that Xie Wei is a good person. Even after she found out his plot to kill Zhang Zhe, she was still calling him a good person in today's episode lol.

I think it's his view in general about everyone because she said "so in your heart, once you make a mistake, it's useless to make up for it right?" and his reply was "it's still too early to say if Junior Preceptor Xie has done something wrong."

Anyway we'll see, I just felt bad for Ning in that moment *if* he was reincarnated.

Then I suppose it makes sense that he's not the ML, there's nowhere to go with his character. Ngl I'm disappointed, I thought his character would be more interesting. And if we do bring love into this, it makes sense that Ning and Zhang Zhe can't be together because this is her redemption story and Zhang Zhe's belief on that is it doesn't matter...

I didn't say anything about Ning's love life...

I meant since he's so inflexible about how no one is allowed to do wrong for any reason and if you do make mistakes you can't make up for them, it just doesn't seem like he was reincarnate. I'd imagine if he went back in time after her death and saw how changed/different Ning is compared to her first timeline, he'd be kinder with what he says to Ning or added more nuance in his perspective even if he did or didn't know she was reincarnated too. So that makes me believe that the current Zhang Zhe is going through life the same way he did in the first timeline, not reincarnated. If that makes sense? I could be wrong.

Apparently Zhang Zhe is reincarnated in the book but I don't think that's true for the drama...? Otherwise what he said to Ning by the river was way cruel. He made her think that no matter what she wouldn't be able to make up for past mistakes. She looked crestfallen. If he was reincarnated, he wouldn't do that right?

So I'm reading some people blame Xie Wei for not sharing his plan with Ning because they have an "agreement", but they only have an agreement when it comes to the safety of Yan Lin and the Yan family, he got them out of the capital. His plot against the Xue family and about the rebels have nothing to do with that so why would he tell her? Would she help him kill the Xue family?

I'm not mad at her for plotting to save Zhang Zhe either. Their plots are just gonna have to keep clashing, it's hot lol.

Well technically he's her teacher so scoldings happen lol.

But in all seriousness- Usually he's just asking her to be smart about her plans. Like when she wanted to get back at Xue Shu, he didn't tell her not to, he just asked her to bide her time and be careful when she does. He was mad about the letters because there were so many blind spots and if things backfired the whole Yan family would be dead.
