I think it's because of Sol's accident. The trauma it brought Sunjae soured their friendship. We also have to take account of what happened on that radio phone call. The added stress on Sunjae's part had probably gotten so big it severed a lot of relationships he had with people. That's 15 years of unresolved trauma, after all.

Imagine that Sunjae, with Sol still blaming for him accident, having a memory of Sol that said ‘I love you’ to him— the girl promised to be there when he's in pain. No wonder even In hyuk, who hated her for making Sunjae the way he is, had to call her because he knew just what Sunjae had to go through. He indulged Sunjae to go after this girl— only for her to date the person SHE told him she didn't like anymore. Who completely disregarded Sunjae like he was a pest. You'd think OG Sunjae had it worse, but we never got to speak about THAT Sunjae. He was too dead for us to remember or acknowledge.

The thing is that it was Sunjae who fell in love with Sol at first sight. He yearned for this same person for 15 years and was very guilty of what happened to her after him not waking her up on the bus. She also blamed him for years after that and wished that he just let her die that day instead of leaving her crippled forever.
Sol's love, on the other hand, is admiration and a love so great she wants to protect this person as much as she can. He was someone unreachable to her (before she found out that he liked her pre-time travel), since she only believed to be one of his fans that he won't ever look at for even a second. There are actual people like that. They don't look at their idol romantically. I, for one, had many biases but I would never think about having any relationship with them if given a chance to cross paths with them. She respects him, that is all. It's only when fully understands her feelings after the car chasing scene does she understand that she also loved him romantically.
The thing with Sol is that she knows where her boundaries lie. When she thought that the reason Sunjae liked her is because she kept bugging him that it sent him mixed signals, she completely rejected him because she knows that he probably confused her actions as something romantic. Besides, days later, the OG Sol would come back and /that/ Sol never liked Sunjae, so having a relationship with him will only hurt him more.
She'd stop at nothing to save him (even if it meant to erase herself from his life) as much as he'd protect her countless of times. I sometimes feel like watchers completely dismiss the many sacrifices she did + having to face her trauma again and again just to give him the life he deserves just because the ML shed a few tears. Even weirder when we're watching from an FL's POV. But anyway!
