I am pretty sure this is a higher budget drama, so not the issue. this just seems to be the style for this drama. I mentioned before that it's very reminiscent of anime, so I actually really like it. I think it's a good interpretation of stereotypical xianxia 'combat', since there's actually a lot of movement instead of purely relying on CGI effects haha

yeah, I think it's less of an issue with time and more of an issue with the script, how it was presented, etc. in addition to them, I'm also referring to LM & CP with that comment. main couple seems pretty natural compared to them haha

the point is that it's a tragedy, a story of "what if" instead of idealized & often unrealistic outcomes. because reality is usually much harsher than what they show us in fiction.

yeah, and I am just speaking from a non-novel reader POV, because I obviously don't fit into that category & am sure many others don't either ^^

nope, I'm disappointed with this drama, but I have not read the novel. a summary of my issues with this drama: weak writing/lazy story-telling, choppy editing, character & plot inconsistencies, and in order to hide those things, they throw in some extra romance scenes even though there's been like zero time for development of said relationships. if romance is your kinda thing, you might not have any major problems with it. I don't dislike it enough to drop, but it's definitely not a drama that I'm going to think about after it's finished lol.

I think this drama is a good start, I think she's doing quite a good job with this character! Xen Xiao also seems to be pretty likeable.

mhm, but I'm more so thinking along the lines of dramas with heavy editing & scene cutting in order to fit into the 40 episode limit. why not just air more episodes later, instead of butchering the final product? 😢

I do wonder what the rationale is for squeezing everything into 40 or less eps when they could instead air a second season the next year. there are definitely some dramas that have too many episodes, but then there are others that would have benefitted from more 😭

she did visit his bedside. after he wakes up, there's a brief cut to her standing outside of his room

they really deceived us with that trailer. not only that, I was expecting something more intricate plot-wise, but they're just... telling us everything lol, there is no intrigue, there are no twists, nothing. the most "intricate" thing in this drama is us trying to decipher the inconsistencies in the characters because the writing is questionable 😅 good drama for people who like romance, but I personally can't even buy into that.

definitely, I really love her sarcastic remarks in ep 3 😭

I can't lie, I hated her character so much in TTEOTM that it lowkey bled into my opinion of her LMAOO 😭😭 I'm keeping an open mind though, I believe she will convince me to change 😔🙏

10,000+ heat index on iQiyi is usually where its doing really well. 7,500 seems pretty good for first day

I skimmed the novel, drama ending is much better lol. in the novel ending, ML didn't even know that she died 😭

he went back to the sword sect. later on, ML's master mentions going to the apothecary valley, and then he casually says like "oh FL is dead, her master took over again". and then obviously ML is sad, but I don't think he actually goes to visit her grave until a few months later

iQiyi did the same thing with Snowy Night Timeless Love, we had a weird gap in between 😔 maybe bc both dramas have a lower episode count so they're trying to milk it more

her character was never anything special 😭 they just used her for romantic angst for both ML & CP
