this drama was kinda going downhill for me since the last several episodes, but I think that was the final nail in the coffin 😭 I'm already committed tho so I will force myself to finish it 😤

then don't worry about it, just enjoy the journey

in my opinion, there is no reason to be so afraid of bad/sad endings 😔 as long as they're done well, they can be even more impactful than a happy one

my vague impression right now is that, the lighthearted beginning episodes could be the "dream", aka a time of apparent happiness for everyone (though worth noting that we don't yet know ZYZ's real temperament or motives) but then something will happen to force them all to 'wake up' from that "dream", which is where the promised angst will come in. anyway we've only had three episodes so I'm just bullshitting a little bit, but thought it might be worth sharing. 😄

for those worried about the comedy & general lightheartedness, remember the emphasis the trailers, lyrics, etc placed on the concept of "dreaming" 👀

I agree, based on some other angsty xuanhuan/xianxia dramas I've watched, I think it's pretty common for them to start off on a lighter note, so that's not something I'm worried about yet. I actually am enjoying the comedy so far, which I usually don't in cdramas LOL

I love the little doctor!! 😭 I'm especially impressed with his line delivery

this is my second drama of hers playing a bigger role, first one being TTEOTM. she left such an impression on me that my negative feelings are still carrying over from that drama LMAOO, omg I hope it goes away 🤣😭

oh, just to add, I re-watched that scene and caught something I hadn't before: Liu Zhong says "kill me and save his majesty" 🤔 still not really sure why they'd have to kill him, but at least that's something

I also leaned into that idea, but I definitely think she could have stopped him. she is a military general, I am sure she would have been able to hold her own against CP if it came down to a fight..

and the other idea I had: maybe she killed him to make CP think she was still on his side. but, this one is pretty nonsensical because 1. CP admitted his guilt immediately after saying that the Eunuch was "slandering" him, and 2. if she's meant to protect the people, why would she willingly kill someone who's done nothing wrong?

the only thing that fixes this for me is if it's revealed that she magically hit some non-vital organ and didn't actually kill him lmao, even though that's still some lazy writing

right, it would be against her character. which is also why I can't make sense of why she would kill that Eunuch after hearing the truth instead of forcing CP to stop harming him. there are just so many holes 😭

my biggest issue with Luo Mei atm is her "love" for the CP in the first place. how do they honestly expect me to believe that she was so easily swayed by his actions? after being in love with ML for her entire life???? like, sure, maybe she's accepted that ML will never love her. maybe she's accepted that CP can take care of her. but to go as far to say she's "fallen in love" with him already? that is not natural progression 😭😭 that is "we need some angst let's make her fall in love with him for bigger payoff when she betrays him"

not sure on that one. I know that Ding Yuxi has used his own voice for some dramas, but seems like he also gets dubbed a lot 😅

I just follow some cdrama news accounts on twitter. I also recently saw a post saying that some of the more "bromance" type of scenes were getting cut, so could be an issue with that, but not sure if that's true or not.
