The queen exists but she is just not shown, the production decided to not present her character at all. Why is everyone eager to get San a concubine? Because the queen is infertile, sothe king needs a concubine in order to have a prince. You can watch the other drama, Yi San, that goes further into the story

I finally get the reason why it felt so frustating, you explained it well. Her actions are just so unlike what a courtmaid would act back then, if it wasn’t San that loved her, she would have been dead after one incident, yet she was forgiven and forgiven and yet again forgiven because San had affection for her. I get that she wanted to do something without his help and she thought the king would favour Deokro over her. But then why go out if your way to involve the grandma queen, knowing that would hurt San? Then all those hurtful rejections, all those hurtful words that both said. If i did not know what would happen in the last 2 episodes you would think the king did something awful to her and she is acting her revenge story.

You should probably watch Dong Yi or Yi San, these both dramas are about concubines of the king and they both have the full love of the king. I would probably recommend you to watch Yi san since it’s about this story but i would say from a way different perspective

I think that the production team made her to be a bit too harsh. I have no problems with her refusing, but there were so many refusals and their convos were getting more and more hurtful… Since we know what is going to happen in the end, it felt like they were given less and less time for happiness. While both loved eachother they kept saying hurtful words to one another. It felt too much for me…

Because it would not fit the narrative they created at all. In reality Deok Im and the queen were good friends, it was said that one of her refusals for the king was because the Queen had no children and Deok im wanted the King to have children first with the Queen. So they would have to portray the friendship between Deok Im and the Queen.
However here they made Deok Im so much unlike the era, they made her really independent and showed her side of the love that is selfish, if she can't have the king only for herself then rather not have him at all. So it would just not make sense for them to keep saying that she didn't want to become a concubine because she wants to receive all the love and attention. And then her being on really good terms with the wife of the King.
It's honestly a waste that they focused so much on this in my opinion... They made her be too cruel with the king and the reasons she had to not marry were just overblown... all that to make it so angsty... i think they don't know how to portray someone that can be independent but still act with charm. They just made her cruel and disrespectful...

When i watched the episodes live i was angry, now that i watch it again i am left crying. I don't want this drama to end, i want them to be happy together, i want them to finally show their true feelings for each other. It felt like their happiness is always pushed away, that the time is never coming, that i only see them suffering... Is it too much so ask for a few episodes of them being happily in love with eachother?
I know the preview for the last two episodes shows their happiness, but i just know the bittersweet is coming.... I" did not know this will be more melodrama and less pure romance

I waited and waited only to have to wait another week… yeah, i hate the producers so much. As much as i love the drama they are so evil….
