Whole series before grandpa's death was worth the watch but ending explanation made no sense. Nothing explains the ORIGINAL Do Jun's success and death other than a time loop.
1. They're implying that original Do Jun also got killed by Soonyang due to his threat to the throne. New Do Jun only became a threat due to his knowledge of the past. Without all this added advantage, original Do Jun would have nowhere near succeeded as much as the new Do Jun to solidify a reason for his death.
2. The prosecutor became the "Soonyang grim reaper" due to the loss of her lover. But new Do Jun only became interested in her in the new timeline BECAUSE he knew her from her previous life. If not, he would not have gotten romantically involved with her in the first place? Did the original couple just happen to like each other as well?
3. Original Hyun Woo not remembering original Do Jun. HOW?? Original HW got the job only because he was involved in the death of the original Do Jun. And you're telling me he somehow did not recall his existence at all?
This is why they should have stuck with the webtoon and have a simple and clean ending, instead of trying to outsmart the original plot. Side note, romance is extremely unearned and it provided no weight to the story at all. Might've as well just remove it entirely.
It's pretty bad in terms of writing, directing, editing (fight scenes and cuts are laughable) and CGI (if you're ok with most cdrama CGI, this would pass). I also don't feel any connection with the characters. As much as I like Nam Gil and Eun Woo, I decided to drop it at ep 4.
Is there ONE mainstream kdrama that does NOT shove so-called "romance" down our throats?!? There is NOT! Are you…
There are plenty of mainstream Kdramas that do not have romance. Crime and life genre has many of them. Romance genre being the most popular doesn't make dramas that do not have it non-existent.
Isn't the FL supposed to be like 8-10 yrs younger than the ML? The FL actress looks his age (and yes she's a year older than the actor). Feel like they could have picked someone younger to play the role. I can't really buy into her immaturity when she looks 30 (or maybe its just the actress not suiting the role). I like her badassness though.
Am I the only one finding a problem with the conclusion the drama makes in ep 3-4? Pushing the artist to the brink of insanity is a good thing because they are able to produce good work at the end of it. Along with the message of the talented being a slave to their talent. The fact that it was a positive outcome- the poor artist grinding out a revised version of his episode to post the very next day. Couldn't they wait another week? They chose to ask him to revise it within a night and we're supposed to congratulate the fact that he was capable enough to make it. Staying up with the webtoon artist doesn't make it any better. As someone who does draw for work, it kinda infuriates me how this is seen as a good practice.
Don't get me wrong, I like many other parts of the drama. The main characters are great and their work attitude is inspiring. But asking someone to revise an episode the day prior to posting is terribly wrong. It's her fault for not coming to this realisation earlier, so just ask him to revise the following week's ep and so forth.
Everyone forgave Bai Lang Hua way too easily for almost killing Bai Feng Xi. BFX was pretty much dead without that special flower?? You're telling me they both grew up together like sisters, and given BFX's lovely personality, BLH had no doubts about her father being killed by BFX? She's so rash and irrational (given the previous incident regarding her father as well).
Life of the characters continue past the 16 eps, whether we get to see it or not. This is the first time I didn't mind a drama being ambiguous about "true endings". Which is a reflection of the ever-changing nature of real life. The whole drama felt beautiful.
I wondered about this too. I am not well versed in chinese but I just assumed he may have literally addressed…
The subtitles said "his parents-in-law" but in Chinese, the boy said "his dad and mom" which he heard the man call them as. "Ba" and "Ma" can be used to refer to parents AND parents-in-law.
I just started ep1 and looks like this drama is a no for me..
Was reading all the positive comments and finally landed on yours. I really couldn't stand the ML's acting (dropped at ep 1). His eyes lack any expression and I can't take him seriously.
RARITY: A court-crime drama focused on the actual cases and not law corruption/politics. I'm tired of politics dragged into these sorts of shows. Thank god this drama held up till the end.
No romance preferred. Go Eun has chemistry with Do Ki but feels more like family (even addressing him as "uncle" the whole of S1). Prosecutor's actress isn't going to be in S2 so hope the character doesn't make a return.
