My brain: okay Thee just needs to get a diplomatic posting to France, follow his man home, BOOM problem solved—
Mek and Dech exist
Me: EVERYONE GET DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY AND FLEE 😭
Why am I out here like a career counselor for fictional gay couples instead of eating breakfast??? Historical BL really said “let’s ruin this girl’s entire morning” 💀
Haibara’s got that rare “I want to adopt you, not date you” vibe, and honestly? It’s so refreshing. He sees a cute guy and immediately shifts into protective big brother mode. No romance, just full emotional guardianship.
The way he’s out here collecting little brothers like Hajime and Kuromiya? Peak wholesome chaos. No ulterior motives. Just pure “I will throw hands for my found family” energy. And he is completely unhinged about it in the funniest way.
This man probably keeps a mental spreadsheet of his brothers’ favorite snacks and daily routines. Meanwhile, he has zero awareness of how weirdly intense his big brother performance looks to everyone else. The comedic timing is perfect.
It’s wild how much more compelling a character becomes when their default setting is nurturing instead of horny. I need more chaotic big brother energy in anime, immediately.
A Perfect Ending: "The Ex-Morning" Finale Delivers 11/10 Chaos and Joy!
It's literally midnight, and I'm finally getting a moment to gush about The Ex-Morning finale – and honestly, this ending was absolutely perfect! I'm easily giving it an 11/10. The entire vibe was pure chaos and joy, culminating in a full, traditional Thai same-sex wedding ceremony, complete with legal registration. And what a cute Easter egg: the government office worker who officiated Phi and Tam’s marriage was actually P’Lit, the show’s director!
Episode 10 felt like one giant Thai wedding extravaganza. The wildest part? They performed the groom’s procession ritual for both sides. We got double the chaos with matching procession teams carrying identical ceremonial items. My mind was blown; normally in straight weddings, only the groom’s side goes through this elaborate tradition. If you’ve seen the Thai version of Ossan’s Love, you'll recall only Earth’s side had the procession for Mix. But here? KristSingto basically said, “Why choose?” and went full maximum chaos mode with both sides doing it – truly iconic behavior.
A Note on Wedding Traditions
Speaking of wedding traditions, the Thai custom of bridesmaids blocking the path with rope and making the grooms do challenges for red envelopes had me cracking up! (A Thai American friend explained this custom to me after the show.) It instantly reminded me of a Taiwanese wedding I attended where those bridesmaids made the groom do 100 push-ups – I was absolutely dying then too!
Back to the Show!
That scene where they dragged all the wedding guests into the rain? Pure cinema! It beautifully referenced Tam’s favorite movie, the 2013 classic About Time, specifically that iconic rain scene with the leads. So, when our boys decided to have their wedding blessing in the downpour, it exuded major romantic movie protagonist energy – literally letting the universe shower them with blessings! Traditional Thai weddings conclude with guests pouring water from conch shells over the newlyweds as a blessing. Everyone was having the time of their lives getting completely soaked, embracing that "we’re already here and already wet" energy.
However, I have to call out Tam for claiming to be such a planner who thinks of everything, yet having zero backup plan for rain! Sir, where was your contingency plan? Don’t blame Phi’s weather forecast when you didn’t even consider indoor alternatives!
The wedding games also had some sneaky references. When asked about the first show Phi and Tam watched together, the answer was SOTUS! Though Gie asked about movies, and Phi totally missed the assignment, haha.
The bedroom blessing scene with the parents was incredibly sweet, and Tam’s mom dropping that relationship wisdom about "adding fuel to the fire" to keep the passion alive? Honestly, that’s iconic life advice! Also, major props to them sitting in traditional Thai style the entire time – anyone who’s tried this knows your legs will be screaming by the end!
The post-credits scene was actually educational, demonstrating exactly how to register for same-sex marriage in Thailand now that it’s legal! Remember to bring your partner (duh) and two witnesses with proper ID. Fill out the paperwork, and boom – you get your official marriage certificate! Love that for us.
They wrapped everything up with a gorgeous cast photo that left me feeling all the feels. If they do a special episode, I'm definitely manifesting some honeymoon shenanigans!
I don’t know if The Ex-Morning brought new fans to the Peraya fandom, but the longtime stans definitely aren’t going anywhere – if anything, we’re even more obsessed now 💜
A toast to the finale: This series really said “what if we ended with actual perfect writing AND phenomenal acting” and honestly? Revolutionary. Krist and Singto saved their best for last and I’m obsessed. Peak Peraya energy right until the very end 🥂✨
CC probably thought he could handle it, you know? Like he’s with WSW now so obviously he’s moved on from Wang Shuo and can just hang out like normal people. Classic mistake - thinking you’re over something when you’re really just avoiding it. Maybe he wanted to prove he could be mature about it or something.
Wang Shuo though… that man had an agenda. No way he just happened to be back in town and thought “oh let me casually hang with my ex and the guy I cheated with.” He wanted to see something - if CC still had feelings, if he could still mess with his head, who knows. Maybe he regrets what happened or maybe he just missed the attention.
And GCY setting this up is honestly the weirdest part. Like what was his endgame here? Does he think getting everyone in the same room will magically fix the mess he helped create? Or is he one of those people who stirs the pot because he can’t handle unfinished business? Part of me wonders if he just likes being in the middle of the drama he caused.
The whole thing screams unresolved issues and nobody wanting to admit they’re not actually over what happened. What a train wreck.
Episode two was really good! I loved watching Hill and Bay hunt for their dating game male lead prototype. Going after influencers and internet celebrities first? Total disaster, but honestly I saw that coming from a mile away. Of course they’d end up with the company boss as their guy.
Okay, tiny nitpick here: I think I’ve watched way too much of Koji Mukai doing his idol thing in Japanese, because something feels off with his Thai performances. Like those drunk scenes? They just didn’t hit the same way - felt kinda flat, you know?
When Thada can’t win an argument with Armin, he always puts his hands in his pockets, and it gives me such classic old movie gentleman vibes. Oh my god, that rehearsal scene - after Armin left, I literally thought for a moment that Thada was going to break into tap dancing like those old movie stars! 😂
The way he just stands there with that classic pose… it’s giving me major vintage Hollywood leading man energy and I am HERE for it!
OMG I can’t even right now 😭😭 sorry if spoilers but I literally cannot contain myself after this episode
GUYS. I am not okay. Like actually not okay. They really had Ren and Thiwthit bribing prop people to put real bullets in the gun??? WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA. I was literally yelling at my screen like “NO NO NO NOT AGAIN”
And when Armin got shot I genuinely thought they were gonna kill him off AGAIN and make him restart his whole life and I was like absolutely not, my heart cannot take this twice 😩
But Thada’s reaction though… the way he just completely lost it… I felt that in my SOUL. Like this man really said “if anything happens to Armin I will burn this whole world down” and honestly? Valid.
I know the writers are just trying to show us how much Thada loves him but like… it’s working??? I’m sitting here married with a whole husband and somehow getting butterflies over fictional Thada being all protective 💀
The hospital scene had me crying happy tears I’m not even ashamed. We all just want someone to love us like Thada loves Armin don’t we??
Anyway I’m gonna go rewatch that scene where he panics bc apparently I enjoy emotional damage
10/10 still obsessed with this show
im sayinnn. Never had an issue with the uni bls. How could I when that's how I fell in love with the industry?…
The winery analogy is PERFECT and honestly so wholesome 🍷✨ You’re so right - just because we’ve developed more refined tastes doesn’t mean the classics should disappear!
Love how you flipped the whole “selfish bastards” thing lmao. Thailand really has mastered the uni BL formula and honestly? Respect the craft! Plus you never know when curiosity might bring us back to check out a “new vintage” 😌
Well said haha I was like ofc once again an engineer student with a medical student, then there's a fight , there'll…
STOPPP the accuracy is sending me 💀 You really just called out the entire BL formula in one comment!
Engineer/medical student + fight + beach scene + “same cringey stuff” = the BL starter pack we all fell for at some point 😭 And you know what? We were FED and we said thank you!
And this is how China takes over the BL industry with RL (literally breaks GagaOOLala every time an episode releases)…
Yesss the Chinese BL renaissance is real! Love that you’re still loyal to your Thai BL roots though - LITA and Not Me were iconic gateway drugs! And honestly you’re so right about keeping an open mind because you never know when they’ll drop another gem like Reset or TharnePo that just hits different ✨
You got it perfectly. Because watching the first episode and trailer itself made me think I would've eaten this…
Aw that’s actually so wholesome though! Like you’ve come full circle - from “baby’s first BL” energy to seasoned veteran back to appreciating the gateway shows for what they are 🥺
It’s giving elder millennial wisdom vibes and I’m here for it. Sometimes we need that reminder that the “basic” stuff still has its place and deserves respect for bringing new people into the fold! Plus lowkey those comfort tropes hit different when you’re feeling nostalgic ✨
you know, I wish there was the basic BLs for the newbies and then BLs that are just for us seasoned BLs fans out…
Yes! The two-tier system would be perfect - like having your cozy comfort shows AND the stuff that actually makes you kick your feet and giggle like you’re 16 again 😭
You nailed it with the “beautiful sweet caring moments” - that’s literally what we’re all here for! When the chemistry and tenderness actually hit different and you’re just sitting there like “why am I single” lmaooo. We need more of that magic ✨
Ditching the usual amusement park or aquarium for a botanical garden was such a glow-up! Honestly, it felt like a breath of fresh air.
I'm pretty sure Natsuo still hasn't caught onto Hiro's last name. If he had, he'd definitely be like, "Wait, that Suzuki?" Talk about an "oops" moment waiting to happen.
And Natsuo just beaming, watching Hiro charmingly handle that little mischievous kid? Yeah, my face split into a grin too.
