are still somewhat working together with FTY securing the falsified deed and giving it to ZL to pressure Adviser Li.

It was the falsification of merits that could get them executed. It didn't matter that it was LDH who did them. Even if it was proven that they didn't kill them, they still falsified their merits. That's why presenting a replacement 16 heads of bandits (well 15) would be enough to compensate for the falsification. The death of the innocent? Well. It doesn't make sense to us in this modern world but back then, the lives of peasants weren't as important, sadly.

FTY said it in ep 15-16. He grew up privileged and thinks that his affection and attention are some sort of kindness or gifts to others and are of value to others. FTY later on says she didn't care for that. And later on he would say that anyone would want ro be him - he has wealth, a top scholar and has a good family background. It's prime ego, arrogance and audacity.

The merits. The officials don't care that innocent lives were lost. They care that they falsified their supposed merits. Those are what those 16 heads for - to replace the falsified 16 heads that was claimed before.

ZL is playing a very dangerous game with his mission (hence the stabbing incident) and wants to distance FTY from it as much as he could.

Low profile on their relationship. ZL in the capital is just about as loud as it could get with him hunting down corrupt officials. Different things.

ZL's anger when he killed Lu Dahu was a raging fire kind of anger. But at the capital, when he arrested Advisor Li (or is he a minister now?), his anger felt so cold, much scarier than when it was burning. DYX is really doing great with his portrayal of ZL's transformation. 👏👏👏👍👍👍👍

Crown Prince knew about that XTY is actually FTY, that's why he easily granted her request for a register as a reward. He also knew that ZL was/is the infamous salt smuggler and that he left that all behind when he surrendered all his assets to the government. YJX knew nothing of this and thouht that was somethinf he could threaten them with.

Loved that short scene between FTY and Mrs. Mo. Mrs. Mo was looking very hesitant and unsure and then looked so relieved and happy when she realizes that FTY doesn't have any ill feelings towards Gen. Mo's reinstatement. I hopw we get to see more of Mrs. Mo at the capital.

And lol at the side eye FTY gave when FYK started blurting out some AO3-level fanfiction about how she and her husband met. Lmfao!

I think the fact that everyone intensely hates him makes him a very effective villain.
