A good adaptation starts with a good script but it seems like MDL doesn’t have info about the screenwriter. But the director seems to have a good track record, especially when it comes to youth drama, so there is that. And with good actors playing the main leads, it looks like this adaptation has hope to be a good one.
When you posted about not being sure about her visual, I interpreted it as such, the visuals. I haven’t read the novel so I thought, is Xu Sui that physically/visually different from the actress? If it’s about vibe and personality of the character, well she’s an actress. It’s part of her job, and the director’s and screenwriter’s the entire cast really, to create the vibe and personality of the character. It just felt weird for me reading that hopefully the actress can bring justice to the pairing, a responsibility that should be carried by the two people in that pair and the rest of the production team.
Late to the party but I’m glad I picked this up. Only in episode 15 but I am loving this. 👍👍👍Great acting from the cast, plot going well so far, good chemistry between all the actors, and good character development from the main leads. I hope it’s sustained for the rest of the series.
Wait I might be misunderstanding something but it sounds like the twenty year old female lead is supposed to be…
Yeah, looks like it. The actress is 20 years old and she will be playing a character who is a surgeon (did not specify if in training or already a consultant) who could probably be in their mid to late 20s. I don't think she will be doing a 20 year old surgeon character.
It is true that his screen time is that low and his fans calculated his screen time with stop watches. The illusion…
As someone who actually tried to time his scenes in one episode, I cannot agree to those numbers. When I hit the 15 min mark of screen time, I stopped because I realized how ridiculous it was. I know it's nitpicking but it's just outrageous. Calling out because he only had 2.5 hrs of close up scenes and the rest are not close up? He filmed for 4 months with a script as thick as a college textbook and it shows. If everyone starts measuring the presence of the actor based only on close-up shots, then we have lost sight of everything else the actor has done on the other non-close up scenes. And that's when a good character is seen as nothing more than a "young loverboy".
Okay, so 2.5 hours of CLOSE-UP scenes for the ML. Not a TOTAL of 2.5 hours for the entire drama. I am watching this and DYX definitely has more than those few minutes per episode that they are claiming. The way people are trying to make this series the “bad guy” is getting out of hand.
The ML only had 2.5 hours of screen time in a 40 episode drama… probably too difficult to build any chemistry…
2.5 hours of CLOSE-UP scenes, apparently. And then someone, somewhere ran away with that and labelled it as 2.5 hours total scenes. Anyone paying attention to the drama could clearly see that DYX had more than those supposed maximum of 7 mins of screen time in an episode.
Don't know why it shows up as watched all 40 episodes when I chose the option 'no'. After my initial review, I…
So I did something weird and tried to verify the numbers they put there. Lol! I rewatched a past episode and timed his scenes which included him in the foreground, background. And nope. Those numbers are ❌❎🙅♀️🙅♀️🙅♀️. In the episode I rewatched (14), they are off by at least 10 mins. So yeah, don’t believe them.

I’m just curious what the screen time stats are for the other lead actors and supporting actors in comparison with DYX. I know that the time average is not equally distributed for each episode, there will be episodes where there will be more screen time for this actor, etc. Maybe because I am not really watching the entire series for DYX alone (don’t get me wrong, I love DYX and he’s the reason why I started watching this in the first place), it doesn’t feel like he has significantly little screen time as compared to others. When he is onscreen, he takes up that screen time with his presence and his great acting, and that is amazing. I already expected SQ to have more screen time because she is the first lead actor/first billing and the story is mainly about her character. And this story has lots of support characters whose stories interweave with that of the MC and so expectedly they also need some screen time. But I agree, maybe many expected differently.
I am just a tad bit confused. The review indicates that you have gone through 40/40 episodes but you said you feel like dropping this series? So at what episode are you actually making this review from? Just to have an honest gauge at what perspective of the series this review is from. Because I am pretty sure by the 7th episode, DYX definitely had more than 30 mins of screen time.
I just recently started and episode 1 also hooked me. I, unfortunately, read through the comments before watching.…
Rating all episodes in one go? Hahahaha! It kind of reeks of desperation and bitterness. I think I will be sticking with this drama. Interesting, very colorful (including black) characters, plot looks good, too. 👍
