ZL was angry, furious. Lu killed innocent civilians, plotted ZL's death/disappearance and then lusted after FTY. I would say it was a very merciful death - quick and mostly painless.

He said he wasn't after blood (aka her life) and he won't ruin her reputation, which he kept. Nothing hypocritical about that. They were the richest family in town - more likely to have money on hand and thus the fastest way to get money. He wasn't doing it because he's judging her personal choice. He just wanted money. He didn't threaten to harm her, he warned her to leave him alone after she sent his enemies to him. It wasn't anything about her marrying anyone. Whether he has the right to warn her or not. It was a warning, so. She retaliated, he retaliated. I don't think anyone here blames her for exposing his identity. Did anyone? If there was anyone, I didn't see it. Still, him wanting to get his money had nothing to do with her situation in her family or her wanting to get married to someone rich.

I don't think they're cartoonish villains. I don't think their motivations are shallow. I think it's just that THAT is all they have. Ganlin town, the garrison life, being concubine. That's it, that's their world. And so when the very few things that defines them gets threatened, they attack. A new face is a threat. A slightly more favored new face is a threat. A pretty girl is a threat. It's actually kinda sad realizing that there's nothing much going for them.

Please don't watch it. Protect your sanity.

But why should he have been considerate about her family situation? Why should he have cared about that? Lol! They were practically strangers. He, the smuggler trying to get some money. She, the rich family who benefitted from his salt by getting merit for "confiscating" them. Neither of them owed each other that kind of consideration or care about each others "situation".

Huh. It was an execution wasn't it? He was so fuming mad.

His anger was palpable. Like, even I for scared. DYX is awesome!

Really like what he said there. You could feel the contempt he has for the hypocrisy of the nobility. Lol!

Let's rewind. He tried to swindle money from them, he got caught and then he left. She lied and made everyone belive that he swindled money from her family. He didn't. She did that so his men would turn against him and they did. Now, he needs half of the money she lied that he got to resolve the misunderstanding among his men. He threatened her for that money that she lied about that led to his current problem. But he only wanted the money. But even when he couldn't get it, he left. He didn't ruin her reputation. Someone else did that.

I have to say, ZL is transforming faster than I thought he would in the story. And that's okay. I like this. It's both exciting and uncomfortable. And the writers and director of TRTS don't seem to mind uncomfortable so I'm all for it.

I shouldn't have watched the previews but I did and now I dunno what to do. Ahhhgg!

As someone who loves MOGA and also loves TRTS. I say go for both. But. They are very different. Different storytelling, VERY DIFFERENT characters and character dynamics for the ML and FL and the support characters. DYX and DEX chemistry was already 🔥🔥🔥 even in MOGA and only got better here. Production wise, it shows that TRTS has def had more budget than MOGA (it was a medium-tier budget iirc). So it's up to you.
