i also understand that. but then you look at the details and realize its actually just zhao being unable to cope with not being seen as the best. ok maybe thats just me tho. i understand, truly, the “for your own good” inpulse, but its destructive. im also older, in my 30s now and just need female characters that arent saintly in their tolerance, patience and devotion. thats can work, but they didnt write it so that it does.

she came back for the dog 6 years ago, and san lai told her he ran away. all in a ploy to give it to zhao. nothing can justify this. she had to grieve and be heartbroken for the dog too. why? cos zhao is the most self serving idiot in the planet who love her but somehow is willing to put her thrown waves of heartbreak, grielf, abandonment and have her family lie to her face for years ALL SO HE COULD SET UP SHIT SO HE FEELS BETTER AND FEELS LIKE HE DID A ROMANTIC THING in the end. 6 years of suffering, of not knowing… im clearly the outlier and most love this and think its romantic, but i would spit in his face once i saw him again. how condescending, infantilizing and disrespectful his decision since (and including) the separation have been.

And more so, how all the friends and even her family in Thailand betrayed her on Zhao’s direction. This is a huge abandonment from all parties as her heart was breaking in front of them. This is beyond infantilizing, humiliating and condescending from Zhao and all of the others. Why is Chinese character writing often so seemingly unaware of how ridiculous this is, and how normal people would RIGHTLY feel angry, resentful for such treatment not just endure it while never blaming or complaining or demanding to be treated with the respect she deserves. Not even saints should accept what these people are doing, on Zhao’s instruction.
I do understand where they are all coming from, but this is crazy levels of lack of wisdom. No matter how good your intentions are you are degrading someone acting this way. You are telling them they cannot be trusted to make decisions for themselves, you are telling them that they dont even deserve to try. It is damaging in a way chinese media always seems to conveniently sidestep.

people love her in blossom, and i felt that show hinged entirely on her and her performance was stunted. she could only do a couple of things in terms of acting and then repeat. that show needed a better actor. but even if i say that i cannot deny most people disagree and made that show blow up. i chalk it up to a personal incompatibility between me and MZY
