27 eps in and i like it, but its a simplistic story. a well done one but something feels like is missing. good cast, good chemistry and plot. i wish i could put my finger on what exactly isnt hitting the bullseye. maybe i will by the end.
i find the FL’s acting to be weak. im very disappointed at episode 6. ill persist.
yes unfortunately. but i moved on to love and redemption and that saved me from burnout and i found one of my faves. sometimes hype is indicative of quality sometimes not
we have too similar taste for me not to take this seriously. i just reallllllllly like the female lead actress and wanted this to be worth it but i dont have infinite time so i better be selective.
Does this have a love triangle / harem or annoyingly persistent side charas chasing after either lead? Tags say…
no none! everyone is very loyal to eachother in a very romantic yearning kind of way!
there is an annoying antagonist but thats kind what they are there for. many i should say.
this is fantastic btw, i want particularly impressed at first but i noted it was way better than usual and then if you give it time it becomes amazing.
Coming off of a huge disappointment with Eternal Love, i really thought this would also go that way.
To my surprise, finally a FL who can genuinely, convincingly and suitably portray the type of innocence cdramas always need to go for (for some reason). I didnt expect to like her nor her performance and so far i really so.
Yang Mi in Eternal Love was so bad at playing innocent im just grateful its not that type of thing again!
Only at episode 4 but im enjoying it and am excited to see what the fuss is about!
4 episodes in and not getting the hype yet. the lead actress’s babygirl behaviors while pretending to be a male descipe are cringe and a choice that takes me entirely out of it. i mean, she’s supposed to have been passing as a male desciple for years by now. atrotious creative choice.
dw fans, im sticking with it because i usually find my favorites by following whats extremely beloved and this is one of those.
i do wish someone will reassure me that the FL’s acting choices get better. shes a 30yo woman begging her master as a 10yo girl would… its so odd to watch.
the FL is a general in name only. she is utterly unconvincing in the role. imagine a general who has all the mannerisms, personality and looks of a Disney princess. every fight scene with fails to seem believable, her attacks lack power and conviction in their performance. she is lovely, but not as a general. idk why they cast someone who cant convincingly so both sides of the character. IT CAN BE DONE: see Legend Of Shen Li. feminine and strong can and has been done. this girl is just feminine and the show is trying to insist she is strong and all the proof is tainted by the unconvincing performance. THAT SAID, this series is trying to do something interesting and so im sticking with. love cheng lei.
either way im having fun
