Are too complex for you to expect only one course of action. Yes it happens but people also end up choosing other paths. And that’s what makes this truly realistic Imo.
In real life we get scared of the uncertainty, we , or some people would rather not be with someone just for the slim chance that something could go wrong in the future or they could get their heart broken. It’s very common.

Because the Taiwanese series was one of the best of that year. They have such high standard that they cannot help but compare.
You cannot prevent people who watched the original from making comparisons and observations. Nor can you expect them to not watch just because they have high expectations. Anime watchers still watch live actions.
Now , as a new viewer you should be given the opportunity to enjoy the show without thinking about the original. Fair.
But discourse will ultimately happen.
