Although I havenāt watched all of Ren Jialunās dramas, I can say Lu Huai is easily my favorite character he has played.
Because a good character isnāt just about screen time or a dashing, attractive faceāitās about whether they spark discussion and whether they stay in your mind long after the scene ends.
And Lu Huai does exactly that.
Unlike typical protagonists who grow from weak to strong, Lu Huai starts as someone already completeāpowerful, kind, righteous, almost untouchable. But his journey is the opposite. He slowly becomes more human, more vulnerable, as if life itself is stripping him down piece by piece.
He sees everythingāgreed, cruelty, betrayalāeven among cultivators who sacrifice morality for immortality. And stillā¦ he chooses humanity.
Even when the world shows him its worst, he keeps choosing to be human.
Thatās what makes him unforgettable.
Not perfectionā¦ but the decision to remain human despite everythingāand I LOVE THAT. It gives me a sense of value as a human. And Ren Jialunāyouāre amazing. This hit way harder than I thought it would...
My take on this: his real destination will likely be when he completes the five human transformations, since the drama is centered on his journey of salvation. The climax may come down to whether he chooses to remain human or retain his war demon power to save humanity (just my guess)ā¦ Yeah, that feels like the final turning point weāre heading toward...
The story is getting way deeperāitās not romance, not personal choices, not even a life preference.
Itās this whole hardworking humans vs lazy immortal privilege thingy. And honestly??!! Thatās kinda sus. Immortals are supposed to represent justice and logic, right? But here theyāre cold, detached, and ready to wipe out entire populations for their own agenda...lol.. Meanwhile, the war demonāsupposed āsavage enemyāāends up being the most real and fair one.
So maybe good and evil are fixed labelsā¦ but people arenāt.
Reflected in our own lives, youād be shocked how many figures can cause harm just because they have the upper handāand we let them, because we believe they hold a moral standard.

After the skin transfusion, he dropped to the Great Completion level, and following the flesh transfusion during the Lingchi punishment, he fell further to the Out-of-Body level. After the bone transfusion, he regressed to the Nascent Soul level, which is confirmed in episodes 24ā26, where both Xia Xuanzi and the later leader of the Qinghong Sect explicitly state that he is currently at this level. According to episode 24, they also explain that if he undergoes another blood transfusion, he will drop to the Foundation Establishment level, and if he undergoes a heart transfusion, he will become a mortal, losing his cultivation entirely
This Moon Clan junior sis is SO irritating ..like zero brain cells, just shallow motives. A Sheng better humble her ..she really needs a good beating, lol.
The FL feels like reverse character development . She started off strongāmorally sharp, savage but justified. Then she drops into this confused, broken phase, but instead of giving powerful inner pain, it just comes off kinda pitiful.
Iād say thatās more on the execution than the writing, ācause the rest of the characters are solid. And maybe thatās why people are getting annoyed with her reactions.
Itās not even a āno chemistryā thingāitās just that heās way ahead emotionally, even though heās supposed to be the restrained one. He knows how to deliver, while sheās kinda stuck in this pity-zone energyā¦ lol.
Hopefully things will changeāI actually like this drama...
