Yang Xuwen shot this drama in 2021 with his two other dramas Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty and 1 romance drama. These two other dramas aired in 2022. So I think it must have been a technical issue that got this drama postponed that long.

I've watched the donghua and liked it. Liked the storyline. But one thing that I find weird about the donghua is that they have both Chinese and Western names. Also they have orcs/ demons that make it look like a lord of the ring knock-off. I'm not sure sure if the donghua is faithful to the novel. Haven't read it.
Making the drama more Chinese seems culturally consistent. Now we'll see if the storyline is just as good as the donghua.

The drama actually got its license in 2022. Heard they couldn't air it because they wanted to fix the CGI and stuff. but heard also that they had to pass some kind of trials. Don't know. Regulations are too strict. Then it was supposed to air last year but iqiyi and tencent couldn't work out the date as they wanted to air it at the same time.

I'm not sure about the BL element. I have never watched BL and know very little about BL. But the donghua doesn't seem to have BL element. Each ML has their own love interest (a woman). The genre is more like war and politics with some fantasy element. We will have the 2nd season of Zichuan or Purple River this year or next year.
If this adaptation follows what its donghua has done (divided into 2 seasons), chances are Eternal Brotherhood could be the 1st part so there could be the 2nd part. But this is just my personal opinion.

lol Joking aside, I also hope the storyline is good. I've watched the donghua and loved it. It would be a shame if this adaptation were not as good as the donghua.

I heard some people on weibo said iQiyi were actually planning to air it in December last year but since this drama is going to air on Tencent as well, iQiyi and Tencent are still working on synchronizing the date when both platforms are able to air it together.
