3 of them; all 3 leads have ppl they care about/married to though ML and his whatever she is are the most annoying.…
Very true! We've witnessed this happens multiple times in real life. An heir to monarch, a successor of a business magnate etc. Not all of them are educated well. Some are and some are not. Ning belongs to the latter. Actually she's not that annoying in the anime, but her voice is way more squeaky than in this version.
Okay, iโm on the first episode and this looks great but iโm a bit lost on some things : - what position hold…
I've watched the anime so this is what I gather. Zichuan Xiu grew up in Zichuan family as an adopted son. He grew up with Ning the heiress of Zichuan family. Ning's father noticed that Ah Xiu and Ning were very closed and suspected that they would develop feelings for each other so he sent Ah Xiu away to separate them. He sent Ah Xiu to a military academy where he met Dilin and Si Yilin (or Sterlings in the anime version). They were very close and became sworn brothers. When they finished their training, they were sent to different divisions in the army. Dilin to work under Yang Minghua, Si Yilin to work in Zichuan's family (as a guard). And Ah Xiu was sent to a different division. That's how they ended up working for different people.
Idk what they do with the drama version but my friend told me in the book he has another love interest.
Maybe we will see her later. I can't remember which episode she appears in the anime. Maybe middle towards the end? So let's see if in this drama we'll get to see her next week when they drop 8 episodes. MDL admin may be not that enthusiastic about the show that they can't be bothered getting more info. Also since they began filming the drama, the makers were super secretive about it. There were very few leacked photos of the set and actors during filming. I believe, there was an incident involving paparazzi at Zichuan set where the security guards beat up a paparazzi who tried to take photos.

Oof.. I'm not sure.. Like some months ago. I was really looking forward to this drama that I was stalking YXW's fan (LOL)who's also a fan of the novel. I checked his/her post almost everyday to see if there's any updates on the show.
Yeah he is a really good actor. He actually did a better Guo Jing than Hu Ge did (don't kill me!)
It it's the genre I like and he's in it as a guest star only, I would watch it. If the genre is not my cup of tea, I'd skip it even if he's the main lead. For me, genre comes first, actors come second. But I don't have that many genres that I like, so yeah slim pickings lol

oh right the fans ๐ I mean I have some favorite actors too but I will not watch all of their dramas just to support them. They're already rich ๐ I pick and choose what I think worth watching.
If they don't want to write romance but they want to add it they should just stick to the idea that in those times…
There are loads of stories that might not sit well with us. We have a choice to either skip the cringey parts and move on or to drop it altogether ๐ Plus, this is not a love story. This is a novel whose theme is about military. I don't like Ning either. But she doesn't bother me that much. I'm more interested in the war strategy later on.
Power is never enough, even you are in your eighties. lol!
In the anime, there's a scene in which Ning's father noticed how closed Ning and Ah Xiu. He sensed that they had developed feelings for each other, so one day he told Ah Xiu that Ning was the only heir and he was nothing.

It's in the novel, so they had to include it in the adaptation. I haven't read the novel but I have watched the anime. Plus there's another female character that hasn't appeared yet. Be patient๐ I don't like Ning either. When I was watching the anime, I fast forwarded her scenes.

Do you have a weibo account? This person is a big fan of the novel and also YXW. He posted a lot about Zichuan's filming before. I can't open his past posts cos I don't have a weibo account. Once he (or she) posted a list of the female characters of the drama. I think Liu FengShuang was in the list. https://weibo.com/u/1064031610
Perhaps you can find some clues in the Character directory (still under construction until more episodes are aired).…
When they had the booting ceremony in July, the filming had actually started in May. Yang Xuwen wrapped Strange Tales in 19 May and 20 May he rushed to Zichuan set. First they shot the war scenes for a month or a month and a half then they moved to Hengdian in July for the indoor scenes.
