Idk what they do with the drama version but my friend told me in the book he has another love interest.
Oof.. I'm not sure.. Like some months ago. I was really looking forward to this drama that I was stalking YXW's fan (LOL)who's also a fan of the novel. I checked his/her post almost everyday to see if there's any updates on the show.
Yeah he is a really good actor. He actually did a better Guo Jing than Hu Ge did (don't kill me!)
It it's the genre I like and he's in it as a guest star only, I would watch it. If the genre is not my cup of tea, I'd skip it even if he's the main lead. For me, genre comes first, actors come second. But I don't have that many genres that I like, so yeah slim pickings lol

oh right the fans π I mean I have some favorite actors too but I will not watch all of their dramas just to support them. They're already rich π I pick and choose what I think worth watching.
If they don't want to write romance but they want to add it they should just stick to the idea that in those times…
There are loads of stories that might not sit well with us. We have a choice to either skip the cringey parts and move on or to drop it altogether π Plus, this is not a love story. This is a novel whose theme is about military. I don't like Ning either. But she doesn't bother me that much. I'm more interested in the war strategy later on.
Power is never enough, even you are in your eighties. lol!
In the anime, there's a scene in which Ning's father noticed how closed Ning and Ah Xiu. He sensed that they had developed feelings for each other, so one day he told Ah Xiu that Ning was the only heir and he was nothing.

It's in the novel, so they had to include it in the adaptation. I haven't read the novel but I have watched the anime. Plus there's another female character that hasn't appeared yet. Be patientπ I don't like Ning either. When I was watching the anime, I fast forwarded her scenes.
3 of them; all 3 leads have ppl they care about/married to though ML and his whatever she is are the most annoying.…
She was spoiled by her father in the anime.

Just a small correction. Yang Xuwen was not a side character in Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty. He's the main character. He began his acting career in 2014. He has been dramas with A list stars now including Dilraba, Zhao Li Ying, Yang Zi, Cheng Yi and so on. He played in Legend of the Condor Heroes in 2017 with Li Yitong. He was the main lead there. He was on hiatus for a few years and made a comeback with Strange Tales in 2022.

Do you have a weibo account? This person is a big fan of the novel and also YXW. He posted a lot about Zichuan's filming before. I can't open his past posts cos I don't have a weibo account. Once he (or she) posted a list of the female characters of the drama. I think Liu FengShuang was in the list. https://weibo.com/u/1064031610
Perhaps you can find some clues in the Character directory (still under construction until more episodes are aired).…
When they had the booting ceremony in July, the filming had actually started in May. Yang Xuwen wrapped Strange Tales in 19 May and 20 May he rushed to Zichuan set. First they shot the war scenes for a month or a month and a half then they moved to Hengdian in July for the indoor scenes.

The fans would be mad if Liu FengShuang is not included in the drama..lol. I believe she'll be in it. The anime itself has 42 episodes. And that ends with a cliffhanger. Season 2 will be out. It's impossible to fit everything into 24 episodes.
Actually they shot the drama more than 2 months. They started in May. The booting ceremony didn't happen until July. They wrapped in August. At least it took them 3 months. Yang Xuwen's fans (I read on their weibo) mentioned that he started filming Eternal Brotherhood right after he finished filming Strange Tales.

They do have Liu FengShuang. I don't know if you have seen the footage of their booting ceremony. But the actress wearing red was there. I believe, she's supposed to be Liu FengShuang.
