It depends on what drew you to Bad Buddy. I wouldn't say these shows are very similar. Bad Buddy was more intense and had a stronger plot and story structure. The writing was better, though it also set up something major and then sort of let it peter out. This show is very, very low conflict, very light, and is more like scenes from a hat throughout. It has a goal and loose story, but it's mostly just feel good moments and brief obstacles that are solved by the end of the episode. Personally, I feel MSP is just okay. I initially liked it more than I thought I would, but be warned that is is a little overhyped. As far as toxic shows, though, this isn't anything like TharnType. This is like the least toxic thing out there. It's all sunshine and rainbows, so if that's what you're looking for, this is great for easy fluff and low stakes. Don't expect the acting and directing chops of an Aof-Ohm-Nanon team, but you'll probably still enjoy it if you're just in it for a sweet time.

Yeah, it's cute, simple, low conflict. It's not the best thing I've ever seen, but those friendships are sweet, and I think it allows people to just watch without having to think too hard.

He has a romance as the side couple in Triage if you want to see him do that kind of part. There isn't a ton of focus on them, but I liked their pairing.

It was announced in 2021, at the end of the year, slated for their 2022 releases. But several of their 2022 shows never came out, and they haven't talked about them, so it's hard to say. So it's only been about a year. Don't give up hope just yet.

Right? Most shows aren't BL. There's plenty to watch. I wish people got this worked up about romance in general, because I wish we had way more shows with zero romance. That would be wonderful. But that isn't what they mean. They're just bitching about BL because they're upset that more of it exists than it used to. However, het stuff STILL outnumbers it by a large margin. They have plenty of het to watch.

Gen stuff though? Next to nothing out there. It sucks.

The announcement of them getting another show has me hoping this is still on. We need some good vampire BL, damn it. There's almost none at all, and the only legit series has a sad ending. Please let this happen soon.

No. That's the name of their fandom. My Broccoli is a project Boun created himself, a vampire BL. Hopefully it still happens. It's been like a year with no updates, but Boun seemed passionate about it.

Right?? It's crazy to me how much the BL industry (the live-action dramas) has grown in such a short amount of time. In some ways, it's really improved drastically and ditched some of the more problematic tropes that I was all too familiar with from the days when all I had was manga. But then there are some tropes that just refuse to die, haha.

To be fair, there's plenty to like, even when it comes to older themes. It also has new frustrations that are mostly unique to the live action stuff, but other elements that stand out in a positive way. I'm really grateful we've come as far as we have. I spent years watching bad movies with sad endings because that was all you really had if you wanted gay male romance. Now, even with the many shows that don't quite work for me, I have a solid amount of quality content to turn to, and there's always more to come.

But yeah, I think my issue stems from the fact that I often don't like the tropes that a lot of other fans adore. I wish I did.

Oh, and to clarify, I meant the drama of them holding onto old feelings of a romantic relationship. A crush and a realized love connection are two very different things. Lots of BL is about a guy with a crush, but it's rare for characters to have any sort of romantic history with men.

No, I think that is indeed what they're doing. I don't think it's your own wishful thinking, because they have to fall in love somehow. I'm just annoyed that it wasn't two guys in love who broke up over something in their youth. Instead, it was a straight guy coming to terms with his feelings for a friend, and a friend of unknown orientation running away because he has feelings for the first guy. It's mutual pining in the end, but this particular dynamic is just old and overdone. Then again I'm also not a fan of mutual pining. For the longest time that was 95% of anything with a gay couple--two guys who liked each other but never told one another and stay that way until the end of the movie or show. My experience with the limitations of m/m media in the early 2000s until honestly fairly recently has left me kind of bitter, lol.

Anyway, I misunderstood the premise, so I feel cheated, that's all. I'm just complaining. It's less compelling as is, but whatever. I'm guessing the next episode will hint that he likes him back by revealing how heartbroken he was when he just left.

I thought they were a couple in the past, which made the show different and interesting. I appreciated that it wasn't another story about two straight guys inexplicably having feelings for one another and spending the entire show figuring that out. Super disappointed that they weren't a couple, apparently, and it was the usual BS. The description says a love is ignited between the two of them. When? Where? It's halfway over and it's apparently a regretful, one-sided love. I'm guessing it wasn't actually one-sided, but then what's his name has some explaining to do for his behavior. I hope they actually address that and don't brush it aside.
