i’m a bit drunk watching this but i just finished episode 6 and NO WAY is uncle jim about to be mad at his nephew…
He's projecting out of fear. He knows that you can't choose to be not gay or not poor, but a small part of him is scared that, like negative family members believed, he may have influenced Li Ming's sexuality. Internalized homophobia isn't uncommon in conservative countries where losers are telling gay people they aren't normal, etc.
Such a great ending! I'm always nervous because I see so many good series with fucked up endings (weird drama…
I was scared too! But the ending was just perfect, and it wrapped everything up so nicely. Aof even managed to resist his insufferable fetish for time jump happy endings/temporary break ups. XD But seriously, I'm blown away. He did a great job, as did everyone in the cast and crew.
I had so much riding on this show since the moment it was announced, and I was so nervous it was going to disappoint me. I am SO happy and relieved. This is one of four tens I've given in my entire time watching BL. I would like slice of life much more if it were all like this, with maturity and realism. Thank you, Aof, for another great show.
That moment when two characters actually come together in episode 7, and my best friend and I started screaming, "Oh my god, it's happening! It's happening!"
Lol, even if that's their last scene, I'm satisfied with the possibility. Because this show breaks my heart, so I need this. D:
Yeah, that was an unfortunate weakness too, though I was chalking it up to the direction and story. They didn't put much effort into showing us why they liked each other, specifically on Bom's part. I hope they get another chance to do something more, especially Tar, because I liked him despite the issues I had with the show.
I'm not just talking about Bom just standing and staring, I'm talking about the entire cast just being awkward and staring. Like in the second to last episode when Bom's friends show up while he's at the fair with Tar, and the love rival, who never actually acted like he was interested in Bom until that moment, showed up, and they just silently go to a shooting game. And from the moment they arrive to the moment Tar wins the game, the friends literally don't say or do a thing. They don't greet Bom, they don't encourage him or make a comment. Like why are they there? It was so unnerving.
It's fine that you like the show, it just wasn't really for me. There were things I did like about it, but there were so many weird things about the editing and direction, and the behavior between the characters was often very unnatural. I just couldn't get into it, even though I finished it. I finish pretty much everything I start.
Agreed. It was an odd transition, like he just suddenly starts to have feelings for him after being afraid of him for so long. I kept waiting for some sort of redemption there, but there was none.
We still don't know if it's confirmed yet (as an official series). Also, we don't know which actors will play…
It was announced by someone over a year ago, but it may have been licensed by another company. I don't have any information on who initially optioned it, though the author may have mentioned selling the rights or something. There's often a long wait between acquisition and production. But I do wish we had more info.
I struggled to get through I Will Knock You because it was so weird and cheesy. There were so many random moments when people were just staring while someone carried on and on, and everything was dragged out. Anytime there was a scene that didn't focus on everyone, the characters without lines behaved like NPCs. I wrote a long rant about it with examples, but then I figured it'd just be dragging down the people who did like it, so I tossed it aside. I would say that as far as cheese goes, these shows are about on par with each other, though I think I Will Knock You, as weak as it was, seemed to have slightly stronger writing than this. But we'll see.
I would be more forgiving if it didn't have such a strong "little kid" theme. There are like 45 little kids that all REALLY need to be introduced one by one, someone is always watching a family member's child, and the main characters all behave like children. In fact, half of the script seems like it was in fact written by kids. The humor is the immature, "I know you are but what am I" type stuff, and everything is centered on very childish elements.
The writing and acting weren't amazing, but I could accept them if the episode had been cut in half and most of the random children had been removed. I don't think I'll be watching it weekly, but I'll give the second episode a shot to see if the secondary couple adds anything.
It's MMF, and contrary to some of the more cynical comments, all three end up with each other. So it's not strictly…
Oh, but if you're confused because I said "all three end up together," I get why that might be misleading. I personally think that they maintain a mutual love between them, but as far as romantic love is concerned, I agree that Mew and Shin don't connect in that way. However, he had sex with both of them once, so I'm leaving the idea of them occasionally hooking up as a group open.

Yes. Polyamory doesn't mean you're all dating everyone at once. Maybe Shin and Mew are also hooking up at times, but it does indeed seem like Neo is dating Shin, Neo is also dating Mew, and Shin might start dating the other guy. That's how polyamory works. What you're thinking of is a throuple, where three people are all mutually dating. So for example, many polyamorous couples will be together, but each have boyfriends or girlfriends on the side. It doesn't mean they're also dating one another's boyfriends/girlfriends. Those are separate. Hope that helps to clear up your confusion. :)
What shows are taking over the open Wednesday and Thursday slots after Moonlight Chicken ends next week?
I remember last year someone was worked up about when things would air, insisting no BL could air on a second day, so there was no way Not Me would come out early in the year. They were wrong, because GMMTV moved things around. I'm not saying things won't be delayed, but they only lost one BL to 2023 last year, so there's a chance they'll find a way to air things properly. Plus they've been airing at least two BLs at the same time since early 2022, so I'm sure something will come soon. It seems likely to be this show. I understand you don't want to get your hopes up, but try not to be too miserable either. Hopefully they'll make it work.
There are several cynical people in the comments who say they don't end up together, but they clearly do! It's so weird to me, but I think BL fans are just used to being burned, so they take the casual way everyone is behaving to assume. It doesn't explicitly say Mew and Neo are together either, but everyone is confident that THEY end up together. The show even ends with them talking about how love doesn't have a number of people, because they're in a poly relationship.
It's MMF, and contrary to some of the more cynical comments, all three end up with each other. So it's not strictly BL, but the male leads DO end up together in a polyamorous relationship.
Also, the final shot? Perfection.
