Ehhhhhhhh adding this to my list of second lead syndrome along with start-upnevertheless(unless s2 comes out)100…
Don't even mention "Start-up". It was pretty good up until the point they changed completely the ML and SML personalities and decided to pair the FL with the Do San.
I probably have an unpopular opinion about this show. I like almost everything, except the leads romance. In comparison, Bo-Ra's romance is much better.
About the leads development, Jung Hwan is probably the better of them, followed by Deok-Sun (except for some romance parts). Sun Woo is good. But Choi Taek was poorly written and barely believable in my opinion.
Most side characters are pretty interesting and well written. The relationship between family members and the neighbors is amazing. The same for the group of friends. It's an emotional journey.
It was really hard to like the ML, especially with such a nice and fun SML (if you can ignore the moments when he's annoying). I don't find it interesting or attractive someone who treats people like trash once they get stressed. And it happens too often to be considered a mistake. Despite that, I can understand the FL's interest in him given their history. The FL was pretty annoying sometimes, but overall interesting. But as someone else said in another comment, she's too different from her young self. The confident, smart and strong kid became a loud, clumsy and careless (about herself) woman.
There was enough material for a longer show (e.g. 10 episodes of 1 hour). It was good drama with many underdeveloped arcs. For example, in the present day most established relationships aren't contextualized (they just know each other).
You have the right to disagree with me and I respect that. I don't have to finish the show to have an opinion. I dropped because it bothers me the way their relationship is in the first episodes, is not about how it ends. Some people (probably like you) wont feel the same way I did (hence the good rating).
This FL has got to be the dumbest character I’ve seen. Not naive or innocent. Straight up dumb. Every time get…
Yes. It didn't bothered me at first,, because I though she would develop as a character as she realizes that her new looks wont solve every problem. She changed the outside and I was expecting to see her changing the inside (e.g. confidence, life goals, experiences, etc). They kinda try to show her increasing her "intelligence" in the first few episodes (e.g. learning stuff from books), but I can't see the results.
Just so you know, I didn't finished. The FL only cares about herself. She's manipulative and forces people to do what she wants (they said she have APD, but it seems she's narcissist or psychopath [no empathy]). And the ML is too submissive. It might just be me, but I don't call that a healthy relationship.
In the same way, I think it's very problematic the relationship of some dramas where one side (ML or FL) treats the other like trash and other person keeps insisting.
So I dropped this series twice on episode one. I so desperately wanted to watch it because I love Ji Chang Wook.…
That's something important that we forgot sometimes: the mood. My watch list is full of shows that I'm putting off until I'm in the right mood to enjoy them.
I wanted to like this show, but I had to drop it at episode 8. Its not that is bad, just got uninteresting. It introduces a lot of nice stuff (characters and subplots), but most of them are left undeveloped or are just forgotten and the romance go back and forth constantly. The start is pretty good and funny, but most of the comedic tone disappears pretty fast.
The FL is great up until she starts to act like a child in some romantic scenes. The ML lead is good. I can't say much about other characters because they don't have much screen time. I'd like to see more about FL's family, school life and friends. The ML has a job and a limited social life, but that's also forgotten at some point.
I finished 18 episodes but I'm not really enjoying the drama that much. Apart from Ji Hoon , Da Bong, Drill, and…
I think there is a curse in this show that make things worst when people change their looks. Both Do Bong and Woo Seung got uninteresting after their changes. I really liked Da Bong personality and looks from the past. They could evolve him from there, but keeping his identity. Its like he instantly became an adult (or other person) with that hair cut.
I fell in love with Yoon Shi Yoon from Your Honor, I fell in big-time lust with Kim Ming-Jae from Dali/Cocky Prince…
I didn't got bothered about the dad/son stuff (and to be honest, they should have dropped it since is not that relevant), but I agree that the first episodes are much more fun than the rest. They changed the tone at some point and started using some cringe romance cliches. Not to mention the boring arcs of Bo Hee, Gwang Jae and Soon Tae.
About the leads development, Jung Hwan is probably the better of them, followed by Deok-Sun (except for some romance parts). Sun Woo is good. But Choi Taek was poorly written and barely believable in my opinion.
