i wont judge whats comforting for you but if youre just here to support the actors theres no need to defend the show which is the only thing my comment mentioned but you do you
yeah youre right it was literally just an excuse for the author to write a bunch of glorified rape scenes with no plot or bigger meaning whatsoever! i mean hey at least its a high quality pile of putrid garbage, right ?
ok i cant get over prince's manager being arguably the only villain in this series (aside from maybe win's dad). given that i don't know the person who played his manager and i don't think they specified in the show, i cant say for sure...but i think we all know how much bl's like to make a random cis woman, trans woman, or fem person the villain or predator that comes between a couple for just no apparent reason. like they could have just had prince be an actor who was too caught up in doing everything he could for his fans and then meeting a b or c or whoever the hell that was made him realize he should go easy on himself. is that not a cuter story anyway ? this show and its fandom are so out of touch i feel like ive been transported back to like 2019 or smth
i hate to say it because i think it was pretty fun and silly at first but this show is definitely made to please a uhm "certain audience". it feels super plain the second fluke isn't there and even when he is it still feels like something that should've been released a long time ago before people realized "hey queer love stories should have effort put into them too".
i think episode 1 made it pretty clear that these two are down for anything anytime they get even slightly horny why are we shocked that bathroom sex isn't off limits to them ? even people who *can* keep it in their pants do this lmfaoo
since this drama mostly did a great job fleshing out the characters and presenting a realistic romance, i choose to ignore the weird shit between wat and sani. who is sani ? ive never heard of such a character ?
this is one of the more realistic queer dramas i've seen and as much as i hate angst to my very core *because* of how sadly relatable it can be, this handled it pretty well. in my opinion, never got too dark to handle and remained heavily realistic for a show that you initially think is about a literal curse befalling any student who breaks the school rules lmfao. idk might just be me but i feel like gmmtv never fails with these kind of like political statement dramas, but then again i may just be a whore for aye <3
this show's going to have to make a huge mistake for me to not like it after dropping the "they want to pretend they're really dating but if they were they'd immediately stop watching" bomb like idk the screenwriter is hot as shit for that
Seng's bath scene was just so well done, I practically felt my skin crawl. I absolutely can't stand when people touch me, either, as it makes me the same way, and I hope his character continues to be displayed as a hurt person and not just a brat since people with issues like these are usually only seen as stuck-up and nothing more. I have a feeling Seng is going to do amazing in this <3
Lesson of the day is don't touch people without their consent for any reason unless you're the main character of a kdrama saving someone from being ran over or something
I think my conclusion on this drama is that what makes it work is 100% the visuals. Things like camera work, their devotion to making the relationships actually intimate, the consistency in the characters' wardrobes, etc like it just makes most characters feel really fleshed out. The plot and the dialogue were honestly lost on me pretty often but overall I just wish more dramas paid this much attention to the visuals because i'm a sucker for it T-T
As the show comes to a close, I just wanna say I hope all the fans/viewers who just wanted to critique toxic media & toxic media responses are doing well <3
If an opinion is justifying a controversy such as assault, death threats or any form of aggression then its not…
You do realize it's no different, right? If you think something of a fictional event you can't say you think differently if it were to have taken place in real life because the things you said about fiction still apply to real life. When you say something about fake characters going through real traumatic events, it still hurts victims and influences people. When people see people like you sexualize or justify these actions it desensitizes them at best. Also I've said it before but you can like want to debunk characters actions or think deeper on them but that stops when you begin to justify or sexualize it.
Only with this fandom can you hear people say the literal most disgusting shit and then call other people toxic for saying shit like "this show is boring". A lot of people are hiding from the absolutely foul things they've said and are acting like they must give you permission to have an opinion as if they haven't also judged other people heavily and just generally said a bunch of questionable things. Anyway, the point of reviews are for people to share their opinions on the show, events and topics discussed in said show, and any drama or fun facts related to it. I get you like the show so you might not see what others see, but the entire point of this site is for people to judge and discuss. If you can't handle that then maybe don't use the site to say outrageous shit yourselves. (Also don't even try me with the "judging aNYONE's opinion is wrong" bullshit because no it's not, especially when those people are saying foul and harmful things.)
something i'm noticing recently is that people are getting annoyed at people who are critiquing the show for the fact that "it's a mafia show so ofc its messed up" and sure that's fine bUT a lot of people aren't upset that there's that kind of stuff in the show, but rather that the audience fully does not care. shows can have messed up characters and you can still like them and wanna try to debunk their actions and whatever else but the second you sexualize their terrible behavior or try to justify it, it's just harmful. another thing is that everyone can be criticized (including fans). people aren't exempt from criticism just because they're just normal fans and criticizing people is not "forcing an opinion" in most cases it's just pointing out faults or harmful things about something which i think is important to keep in mind. the second you act like you're free of criticism is the second you deny trying to grow or learn. this show is definitely pretty important in a lot of ways for queer entertainment in asia, specifically i think its really important that they shot the sexier scenes the same way they would with a cishet couple in a more gritty show. we get normal nudity and actual passion (!!), but in the same breath, it's almost always been rape and the fandom reacts in a way that only furthers this weird stigma around gay men and rape culture...
okay I may have missed some of your points because this was visually difficult for me to read. Please consider…
Honestly thats a really good point you really are coming through with all the helpful stuff lmfaoo. I was unsure how I even felt but i think that's exactly what it was when i saw other people say this stuff about what happened in this show I just guess I wish people didn't do that kinda thing a little too hard. I wish i had been more calm now but it scares me endlessly to see how much things are backtracking for queer people so I think when even media isn't safe it kinda just stings ?
I had a really similar experience a while ago myself (I think most queer people do) of just feeling like so seen by gayness and not having any clue why since I thought I had to be a woman. It was scary to not understand that then and I guess I just wish it was more talked about now and not so preached by everyone that straight cis women just have this connection to queerness inherently because it undermines the real queer people and really is only confusing to people. I really enjoy BLs as well and I don't by any means think they should be only for one group since I think they can help people understand even themselves but with there being still so many problems in a lot of the material I just feel like queer people and queer depictions deserve better because it just always seems to look dark and hopeless.
I know why people were mad when I was attacking specific comments and commenters but even now that i'm just talking and saying that i only want people to not justify it because that is harmful ? I get you guys don't like me but .. I have no idea what the issue is with my comments now and honestly it's confusing especially when people are now just trying to incite more stuff with me and making it seem like it's necessary when it isn't.

I'm glad it helps ! I didn't mean to assume Bl is only for people who fetishize either so it's nice to know how it came across. I'm aware a lot of queer people (naturally) gravitate towards this type of content especially because of the fact that there is hardly any queer media outside of the whole BL thing. I personally just feel that the "fujoshi" type are still common since I see it all the time and I guess with the amount of queer suffering shown in BLs I tend to worry that the amount of people who only want to see that aspect of things is increasing lol. It feels overwhelming at times so I am very glad i was able to have a more open conversation about it all. I think dark shows can be brilliant honestly and I was drawn to this show because of it and just really hope people know the actions depicted are wrong and understand that my comments are only ever to those trying to stick up for what happened. Sorry if anything else was confusing and thank you again :)
