i think ill pass on this one.. although goblin dissapointed me mid-way, it absolutely stunned me with its epic-ness in the beginning.. this however, i had high expectations because of tvn and the cast, but i couldn't get in to it at all and the acting lacked depth, felt weird and reminded me somehow of Boys Over Flowers?.. and i expected better camera-work and special effects from tvn
well this genre isn't my cup of tea to begin with so yeah..- -
another fresh drama... i love how the drama is set in the architecture/engineering field which is new and pretty uncommon among dramas, the ones i have seen at least. the female lead's character is pretty un-typical too ( not too cutesy-bubbly nor tomb boyish) which is refreshing. i hate the way most dramas approach romance stories but this feels very real, nice, and natural. the acting is good, the pace is perfect, the shots and cinematography are beautiful.
the only thing that is ruining the originality of the drama for me are the second leads ( jung you jin & seo joo won) the kind of characters you see in almost every other drama... I'm not irritated nor annoyed by seo joo won -yet- but i do agree with some who said that his kindness towards moon soo is pretty weird... I'm also worried that as the story unfolds a complicated love-triangle\ square situation will happen and it will switch from architecture to geometry LOL (see what i did there ;) ), and i can totally see myself dropping this if that is going to be the case... i really hope I'm wrong and the story will take a different route and focus on the story more than the romance.. even though the title is "just between lovers" which was a bit intimidating for me at first not gonna lie '^^ ( "romantic doctor, teacher kim" i heard that it was a great drama but the title was the reason i didn't even consider watching it)
it would've been really epic if they just produced it as a Chinese movie, speaking their language.. and i honestly don't know of the actress so i can't say anything about her, but it seems to me from the comments that there are better candidates out there. when i first read "mulan live action remake" Kim Go Eun immediately came to my mind, i can totally see her as mulan and she would make a perfect girl in disguise/ gender bender character.. she played a similar role in "Memories of the sword" not to mention she grew up in china and speaks Chinese fluently or so i heard
couldn't agree with you more. especially regarding WYWS and Mad Dog. i dropped all of these dramas. some i dropped after the first two episodes because i couldn't see myself continuing it.. i was kind of in a drama-slump (still am) so i didn't know if it was just me or are these dramas actually not that great..
i have a serious question: how do they film those horrible/inappropriate scenes with child actors? i tried to come up with explanations but it felt really... weird. i know they're actors but they're still innocent children and shouldn't be exposed to that kind of stuff... so do they replace their bodies with fake ones or how do they film those scenes?!
for some odd reason, i can't take lee sun gun seriously in a historical setting, especially as king. i put this on hold and i can't seem to continue. i mean he's amazing and I've seen a lot of his work and there isn't anything wrong with his acting here either...... i don't know I'm weird
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!!! IT MUST HAVE THE SAME CAST, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!! and the writer needs to pull the story off as good or even better than S1, or it will be a huge disgrace to this masterpiece... i have extremely high hopes for this even though the writer said she didn't know where she was going with the story at the end and wasn't originally planning on a sequel which worries me a little. but hey, it's kim eun hee, tvn, cho jin woong (and LJH, KHS) so we can't go wrong !!!! FIGHTING
Edit: how could i possibly forget the director???!!!!! that guy is a genius! please, don't even bother if the project won't include any of the amazing people behind it.
Rewatched. With sane subs. I’m writing this after intensely sobbing, and my eyes are uncomfortably puffy. This movie is just beautiful. Really. I mean, it’s visually pleasing. Seriously, the director sure is something. And also, the whole pace and everything just fits perfectly. I don’t know how long this is but i sat (laid snuggly in my bed) through the whole thing without pausing or even checking how many minutes are left which i do alot. I know the romance thing seems weird but it seriously wasn’t like that at all, it’s extremely deep, chae sun was innocent and she looked at her master as a fatherly/role model- type of person. Speaking of which, thier relationship really reminded me of the movie “Léon” in a way. I’m realizing that the “review” im seemingly writing is all over the place so ill just stop here :)
yesterday i downloaded the first episode and i was so excited to watch, a few hours later i heard the tragic news and i just can't watch this anymore...

That just shows how much I dislike romance that i completely miss out on good dramas because the title had the word “romantic” in it :\

masterpieces require a good ol' rewatch
