i agree with your thoughts but i have a question, what was suho apologizing for? when did suho wrong beomseok?
suho is apologizing for stepping over beomseoks boundaries. Throughout the scenes you can see beomseok continue to tell him he doesnt want to have a hand on his shoulder because it makes him uncomfortable. suhos apologizing for not listening to that and more importantly he's apologizing for being unable to apologize at that point. He acted as if beomseok was overreacting and never tried to understand him. His pride and hurt came before their friendship and he ended u pdriving beomseok away. Ofc a lot of other factors contributed to the change in beomseok but these are the ones i think suho is apologizing for.
Examining Beomseok's really bad behaviors from this perspective is exactly my point of view. And you have written…
thank you!! exactly, the point isn't to defend him its to be able to understand the way things got to that point and the circumstances surrounding all of their actions.
Using suho and beomseok as character foils is beyond genius. Having the scenes of beomseok kicking his bullies, his secretary sweeping things under the rug, and suho having been the one to stop him from crossing the line being called back to is amazing writing. Beomseok is angry but cant be violent and suho is calm but violent constantly... their confrontation beginning with suho apologizing and trying to stay non-violent while beomseok has swung the other way because of his loneliness and lack of support and confidence. It's so easy to see how things might have gone differently for the both of them. If suho had apologized sooner, if beomseok could've been more honest and less insecure in his relationships. Beomseok forever sees himself as the victim, he can never see past the pain so he can't admit his wrongs and ends up doing worse than those that tormented him. His projection onto suho isn't just because of his boundaries being stepped on, its because he believed in suho as a friend. He believed suho was on his side, something that the bullies he had constantly said, but suho didn't show up for him emotionally which made him feel even lonelier. All that hatred became funneled into a person that he cared for and who didn't deserve it. Of course this doesn't change beomseoks actions nor does it make them any better but the character study presented is compelling and amazing. Theres just so much to say, not just about this arc but about every single character. I loved this drama... I feel like if there had been an episode of them sending more time together as a trio then this emotional line would've hit even more.
I think looking at this show as just a webtoon adaptation instead of its own take on the characters and story does it a disservice. The writers specifically set it at a different time period in sieuns life to try and end those comparisons. This drama has its own values and things to say!
It'd actually be hilarious if Haeeun and Gyumin got back together like that rumor said... It'd literally prove…
Objectively theres no possible way for Gyumin to have moved on and still had every single letter she ever wrote him stashed in his apartment And countless other things... like those arent mementos those are items of love... the entire show its been obvious he still has feelings for her but doesnt want to be in a relationship with her again which is why he keeps pushing her away... They need to talk in a room with no cameras because it's very obvious neither of them are really explaining the full story of the breakup so they cant bring it up or talk it out.
It'd actually be hilarious if Haeeun and Gyumin got back together like that rumor said... It'd literally prove Gyumins point that if he ever had a proper conversation with her they'd still be together. Both of them seriously need a long long talk but every time they've tried it ends with Haeeun shedding one tear and then Gyumin immediately shutting everything down and refusing to talk like they both need to grow up a little at this point. The real problem is that neither of them can let go of the past, Gyumin cant see Haeeun as a changed person and still feels hurt and Haeeun cant see Gyumin as a changed person so she's stuck trying to bring him back the way he used to be. They mirror jisoo and wonbin so much but at least those two manage to bring up their issues lol
GM:- 6years++ relationship & he broke up with her only through phone call- invite his ex to the show (clearly…
Gyumin broke up with her through a phone call because he had collapsed that same day then she had called him and essentially made the situation about herself, something they both admitted. Considering both of them have said over and over Haeeun was more at fault for the breakup i dont see how thats fair to hold over him? He invited her to the show but she fully accepted, mind you shes an adult woman if she knew she wouldnt feel comfortable why accept? And i dont think anyone could have predicted her reaction. They are broken up a full year and never said anything about having contacted him or reaching out to him, even in the interview she was acting pretty much the same as him, only once she reached the dorm did she become overwhelmed. I dont think its fair to pin it on him for that, especially considering they all had to hide who they know. I agree that he shouldnt have gone to nayeon at the time she cried that was insensitive of him. Overall I dont think he couldve done anything else to reject her to be honest, he's a human too and has to deal with the same complicated feelings the rest of the cast are. Even if hes avoiding his feelings i think hes made it very very clear he doesnt want to pursue a relationship with her, do you think if he said something to her it wouldve really made a difference? I feel like he treated her with enough courtesy honestly, he talked to her even before the terrace scene and giggled along but the minute they were alone together it became uncomfortable and both of them became unhappy. I think he's communicated his intentions clearly, but emotions can be such a hard thing to manage. He had a 6-year relationship and has stated he tends to keep things to himself, the relationships end obviously hurt him i think its just a bit cruel to see almost everyone be against him when it seems to me he just doesnt want to relive the hurtful scenario. Im not the biggest fan of either gyumin or haeeun honestly and i think gyumins being flip floppy but i genuinely dont think hes done anything thats worse than something haeeuns done, i think theyre both just deeply hurt by each other.
I feel like im watching a completely different shwo than everyone else... the comments all seem to hate gyumin and support haeeun and i just dont understand the reasoning? Gyumin cried over her in the first episode and continues to confess being jealous because he has leftover feelings, duh bc it was a 6 year relationship. But... he doesnt want to date her again. These are things that completely coexist, and i completely understand his POV esp after the terrace scene in ep 10. Haeeun chose to be on this show, they both seemed to have moved on at least a little in the interview but then when haeeun showed up she spent the entire time upset. At first i empathized with her but after seeing how she lied about him, and even implied that he couldnt keep a friendly distance and mightve been inappropriate with girls around him just to steer jisoo off i just dont get how she has become a victim here? He has obviously been uncomfortable with her pursuing him so persistently, him saying hes jealous and being uncomfortable in recent episodes doesnt change the fact that for her entire run in the show she's made him uncomfortable to be in the same room as him. I genuinely feel as if im missing something is there some reason to love her so much im not seeing? he hasnt asked her to hold onto him and has kept a large distance, hes not my favorite but the hate is just very perplexing to me lol
the first four episodes are so good and interesting!! i binged the webtoon and i quite like most of the changes they made, hyunsoos a great fit for jinyeong even if hes not the right height
