This is by far my favorite drama at the moment. I’m bracing myself for a potentially tragic ending, though, and might end up abandoning it toward the end because of that. These days, I watch most interesting-looking dramas as the episodes get released. I just can’t bring myself to start yet another fully-released drama where it’s clear from the beginning that we’re heading toward yet another silly, unnecessary tragic ending. 😞

Just to make sure I got this right. You are blaming a particular actress for editing glitches?

As far as I am concerned this drama is underrated. Should be at least 8.5.

I’m currently watching Lady Ok and Flourishing Peony, and things have taken a turn for the worse in both shows. In fact, I can’t even bring myself to watch the latest episode of Lady Ok after seeing the most recent episode of Flourishing Peony yesterday. :) :(

At least for me, this is overall a 10/10 and one of the absolute highlights of the year 2024. That said, I’m curious—did anyone else feel slightly disappointed with the last episode? Cutting short Jeong Nyeon’s audition for the main role, especially after showcasing Yeong Seo’s stellar performance, felt like such a strange choice. Also, at least for me, the final performance didn’t quite hit the same emotional high as some of the earlier ones in the series. What do you think?

Yes, one of my top five historical dramas this year :)

Really, really enjoyed this one, with a story that flows seamlessly from beginning to end. The only thing missing for me are a few standout scenes that would make you want to rewatch them again and again. Anyway in my top 5 for 2024.

That's great! Just finished the first season and thoroughly enjoyed it. I even submitted a review which I hardly ever do. Really think that season 1 deserves a much better rating than it's currently sitting at here on MDL.

Well, Zhao Lu Si no. 1 fan here. Started fast-forwarding halfway through and then dropped it while it was still airing. It's just not that great a watch. In the meantime I've heard that it's also got a depressing ending and so I am afraid this is one show I'll never finish (gave it a 10 anyway because it's got Zhao Lu Si in it :)

I loved the Ma Rong character. Seems like I am the only one though :(

I absolutely loved this one—didn’t fast-forward at all! I don’t understand all the hate for Ma Rong; she was actually one of my favorites! Other historical dramas I’ve enjoyed this year include: Joy of Life: Season 2, The Double, Are You the One, Long Life Long Street, and Love Game in Eastern Fantasy.

Yep, great plan. Put the psychopath in charge who straightaway goes on a killing spree. But that's fine, eventually, after everybody is dead, he'll reveal his true colors. The alternative? Just have him dragged out then and there and killed? No, wait, first have somebody frame him with something idiotic. THEN have him dragged out and killed. Standard procedure in this series up to this point :)

Argh, this one started out as an easy and relaxed watch. Really enjoyed it at first. However, the level of stupidity of all the characters has been creeping up steadily and has now reached a point where at least I cannot take it anymore. The empress effectively killing the musician who she'd known all her life for absolutely no reason whatsoever and putting the obviously worst possible choice for a regent in charge of everything was the last straw for me. I'll be fast-forwarding through the last couple of episodes ...

Came to this one after watching Are you the one (which I liked a lot!). On episode 24 now and really liking this one, too. Don't understand some of the harsh criticism in this comment section :( I gave it an extra high rating to compensate for some of the undeserved hate this is getting.

My favorite at the moment. I actually enjoy watching this one as the episodes come out :) Up to episode 27.

It always amazes me to find these really negative, bordering on nasty reviews and comments. What is going on in the mind of a person who feels compelled to spend serious time putting together something like this?

As of today I really like what they've done with season 2. Just left my 10 star rating.
