I just finished Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty and really thought it was great, the atmosphere, the mysteries, and the blend of history with the supernatural made it a real standout. Now I’m about 10 episodes into this new one and I really love it too. It has such a different feel but is just as compelling, with strong characters and immersive storytelling that really draws me in. Both dramas show how varied and rewarding historical series can be, both pulling me in through intricate, suspenseful plots.
This drama has so many beautiful moments—even the heartbreaking ones and the action scenes.
I wouldn’t call this drama perfect, but I agree with you, there are so many beautiful, rewatchable moments. The entire cast did an amazing job, and I hope the main couple gets cast together again sometime soon. They had such great chemistry and worked so well together.

Yes, I was aware of this feature, but thank you very much for sharing your interpretation of this data anyway :) When I mentioned being interested in the distribution of ratings, I was thinking along the lines of “How many 1s, 2s, etc.” Personally, I’d say nobody in their right mind would give pretty much any major production less than 5 stars, and I’d even be in favour of banning anyone who spams low ratings from the platform.
I'd be really interested in the exact distribution of scores that dramas receive. Wouldn't it be good to see how much a puzzlingly low MDL score like the one this hugely popular drama is sitting on is due to systematic, malicious downvoting? At the moment it's just people speculating that this is what is happening, but we don't really have proof. And if this is really what is happening, wouldn't it be really easy to counteract this sort of terrorism with a little bit of smart data wrangling? Why isn't this happening?
Just finished watching. What an incredible ride. I’m now officially up to date with all the major historical dramas released by the big studios this year, and this one was by far my favourite :)
For the record, I really enjoy this drama and don’t quite understand all the negativity in this comment thread. Yes, someone falls off a cliff—but that kind of thing happens in the vast majority of historical dramas. Honestly, I wasn’t even sure it was worth tagging as a spoiler. Oh well, 8.3 I guess I am not the only one who likes this drama.
Just finished this one with my daughter, and we both absolutely loved it — every bit as much as we loved Joy of Life. What an amazing, amazing ride!
I’ve just read some of the hateful comments, and honestly, I can’t understand where they’re coming from. Lately, I’ve noticed this happening in quite a few threads — it’s as if some people have made it their mission to stop others from enjoying things. The moment I see people giving absurdly low ratings to a well-made production like this, it’s a clear sign that something more is going on. It feels like there’s a coordinated effort to tank the ratings, which is really unfortunate.
The presence of these trolls is genuinely toxic and spoils the experience of reading through the comments for those who just want to share their thoughts or enthusiasm.
Does anyone know why this sort of thing seems to be happening so often these days?
Somebody explain this to me: Why go through all the trouble of getting her father convicted “above board”? Why not just focus on assassinating him (in a smart way) and live happily ever after? It’s not like she hasn’t killed before. And if it’s important to you that people know what a monster he was, just reveal it after he’s dead. How many people could have been saved if they’d just killed him once it was clear he was guilty as hell?
For me, the show lost a lot of its immense initial appeal once enough of the father’s crimes were revealed and everyone suddenly started acting out of character and often plain silly. Also, the number of WTF moments since then has increased significantly. Usually, I can tolerate quite a bit in this regard and I usually even enjoy these, but for some reason, these moments in this show just rub me the wrong way. Just ended up fast-forwarding through today's episode. Very sad :(
What's the connection/Is there a connection between the recent Korean hit drama The Glory and this Chinese one here with exactly the same title? Both are about women who've been abused as children and who both have really bad scars all over their bodies, something that I have not seen highlighted in any other dramas. But then one is contemporary and one is historical and in general there are many more differences than similarities. Does anybody know?

It’s a wonderful historical drama with a stellar cast. While it may not be as fast-paced as some others, I personally enjoy it a lot—I haven’t skipped a single scene and am watching it day by day as the episodes are released.
Lately, quite a few haters have been haunting the comment sections of recent historical dramas here on kisskh. These are the kind of people who deliberately give the lowest possible ratings to drag a drama down. If you do the math, you’ll see how easy it is for a small group of determined haters to significantly lower a show’s score.
For example, on kisskh, the lowest possible rating is 1/10 (equivalent to half a star). Suppose a drama has 570 total votes (like this one here), with 560 of them giving a reasonable rating (at least 6), averaging out to 8.3. If just 10 additional people cast a rating of 1/10, the overall score would drop to 8.1—a noticeable impact from a very small group.
I think he may very well have shot her. Just because he's got an arrow ready to go when the camera pans back to him does not mean that he never shot her. Could be a second arrow.
Shen Li is a known troll. Check out the comment section of pretty much any other historical drama and you'll find Shen Li hating on the FL. Sadly there is no way to get rid of this person ;)

Cdrama terrorists? The rating is based on 255 ratings and so if a relatively small number of accounts (belonging to one person?) submit a 0 rating that will do the job. Maybe drop mydramalist a note asking them to investigate? I just did so.
