There were some scenes shown in trailers and previews where Lady Jin, SL and XZ were sitting around playing chess (some pieces of colorful paper were stuck on XZs face), SL said that XZ is shameless and XZ said thanks (for the compliment) - they all looked very happy in these scenes. Did these exist in the novel? Or are they part of the epilogue? after the cave scene, do they stay on the mountain longer or go straight back to the immortal and divine realms?
The trailer for episode 31 looks angsty so wondering if there are more sweet scenes coming before then. Thanks!
Has it been answered? I'm looking but I can't find anything. Why is he walking around being himself? It's obvious…
I didn’t read the novel so this is just my guess. He forgo his disguise after he (and Fu Rong) were seen by ShenLi. Even though she pretended to be blind and deaf, I think after that XZ knew she knew. So no need for the disguise any more. They didnt call each out on it so they could be together longer, living as simply a fisherman and his wife. That would be my best guess.
How do you guys feel abt LGX as XZ, I am totally loving it but some are saying he looks a bit too "bulky" they…
LGX is absolutely perfect for this role. His acting is on point, his chemistry with ZLY is 🔥 and he has the stature to command screen presence.
Male leads that are too slim takes me out of the story because it’s just hard to believe they can protect the female when they’re about the same size 🫠
I've found him good looking since Bu Bu Jing Xin. I didn't think he was the best actor but he had top looks, and…
Ahhh! So I’ve been hearing that nickname as well “dream of 900 million girls” - apparently that’s a name he gave himself hahaha it’s his name / gaming ID on league of legends (he likes to game) and one time a show host or a friend made fun of him and said it’s the dream of 900 million DRUNK girls.
I did hear the story of the ML casting that the director initially didn’t want him due to LGX being a bit out of shape and not in line with the vision of how a god’s (even a retired one) physique should be but ZLY said she guaranteed LGX would get in shape and that she would bear the consequences if he didn’t.
I heard the director wanted xiao zhan instead but ZLY insisted on LGX and thank god she did. Their chemistry is off the charts and I can’t imagine anyone other than LGX having the gravitas to pull off an ancient god.

I love LGX. I think he emotes really well without overdoing it. I’ve been trying to learn more about him via Weibo. He comes across a bit like XZ - a bit mischievous (known for his sharp tongue) and not caring too much what others think of him (he mentioned he’s at a point in his life where he’s choosing interesting projects vs chasing after any fame).
I didn’t come across anything where it mentioned the last few years being particularly hard. I just figured he wasn’t chasing the limelight and taking life easy. Would you be able to share more about what’s been hard for him?
He basically muted the parrot for talking out of school but I don't remember what it said to set him off.
That’s what I thought too but I just watched episode 18 (xingzhi went back to his realm and shenli finally noticed the little bird had been put under a spell and she unmuted the parrot). The parrot started to complain that xingzhi is a scoundrel and he was the one that muted her. shenli responded with something along the lines of (at timestamp 35:30), xingzhi certainly remembers everything.
Sorry this is so silly but I’m so curious if I missed something or maybe this was in the novel (which I didn’t read). Thanks!
Does anyone know why xingzhi bullied shenli’s little parrot named shush? He put a little spell on it when he met the bird and he said something along the lines of “I did this to you”. Thanks!
Does the mother at some point in the series become nicer/acknowledge that she's been acting like a *curse word*…
She does - there’s an explicit moment when she apologizes but it’s pretty far into the series.
That being said, you do see her become less critical of her daughter as the series progresses. There are also moments where you see her being protective of her daughter and protect her from others trying to bully her.
But those early episodes of her being nice to Yang Yang and mean(er) to Niao Niao can be hard to stomach.
Did empress Dowager tried to kill her son ? I don't understand what happened. Was the plan to hurt Zilong to convict…
No, Zilong and Empress Dowager's plan was to kill Xiao Qi. They had assassins hiding in the woods and their idea was to use Zilong to lure Xiao Qi into the forest, kill Xiao Qi and then claim XQ died while protecting the emperor - this will allow them to take over his army without upsetting the soldiers who are loyal to XQ or Awu. XQ will have died a hero and the end.
Except the plan was spoiled by the plotting of Helan Zhen and Zitan - their plan was to frame Xiao Qi for killing the Emperor and lure Xiao Qi to the cliff to kill him. And this was the plan you saw in ep 49.
How was this drama overall? Is it worth watching? I was plnning to check it out when I first saw it aired, but…
It's not the perfect drama (but all dramas have their own issues). The acting, especially from the ML, and the cinematography are great.
If you're looking for something to keep you busy during study breaks, this drama might work. You can just pay attention to the ML (he doesn't have as much screen time as we all wished!) and just disregard the political plots.

Pretty cute and (hopefully) makes you feel better about what happened.
