i think this is the official farewell to JXN x YL loveline. bittersweet but it's for the best. i find it lovely that both marquis yan and minister jiang aren't wealth-hungry. they can willingly do away with their money and glory for the sake of the better good.
i also love the scenes with fangyin. jxn might think everything is still going to be a mess but fangyin is proof that she can overturn the tide if she can only be patient. i love their friendship here.
that was a satisfying end to gong yi. that old dog is probably one of those who would constantly torment xw about his past. it makes me wonder if his thirst for blood actually has to be him drinking blood or bloodthirst as in he wants to go on a killing spree? I'm kinda muddled here after this episode.
xw absolutely can't handle any misunderstanding between him and jxn lol. dude is as white as a paper but he had to go out and make it clear with her the very next day. he's obviously hurt every time jxn brushed him off and kept repeating she'll never bother him anymore 😆
bai lu and zlh are phenomenal in those scenes. i was absolutely mesmerized when xw and gong yi were having tea together. zlh was so immersed in his character it's insaneee. if only they used a different shade of red, added a darker shade or something, i feel like he'd look less cartoonish but all the more fiendish. he was amazing in that scene, hands down! 👏

honestly at this point I've decided to set aside what i know of the novel and go with the drama 😭 yes he remembers the past, yes he has beef with xw but he also knows yan family is innocent. contesting the validity of the seal in front of the emperor could've been more harmful to yan family. like i said, zz lacks subtlety and that's fine in most cases. but in front of the emperor where he can order someone's beheading in an instant that's troublesome, no?
yeah but like minister gu said, he's tactless 😆 he's gifted in investigations but he needs more work in politics. characters like him are honestly the first ones to usually die in these settings 😭
idk who i should credit for the jiang sisters' cleverness. could be minister jiang or wan niang's genes, but definitely not of that shrewd madam jiang. with her personality there's no way the girls inherited such quick-wittedness from her 🙄
