🍉it is said that Cheng yi is finally leaving huanrui on 18th january.
Is confirmed yet or still speculation? And, do you think there's a chance he might decide to renew his contract with them again?
I was thinking the fact that he hasn't been attached to any new projects could mean he is really not renewing his contract🙏.

The Weibo video is fake. Compare the very first review on your video - on Douban it is 5 stars both on the Douban…
I think you're exaggerating things just a little bit. Maybe I've missed something, but except for a comment or two, I haven't really seen anyone being cyberbullied or being suppressed in this comment section. If anything, despite different takes, I saw some healthy discussions being carried out, with no malice intended. I found it nice to read and bounce off the different takes/ideas of everyone. So just because someone disagrees with your point of view doesn't mean they are cyberbullying you and vice versa. Fans of any of these actors will always passionately defend them, that's a given, nothing to be surprised about either, especially if you're someone who's been in these streets for a while.

Obviously you have to expect fans of Chengyi to gush over him because it is his drama after all, and it's actually like this in all the MDL's drama pages I've visited. In fact, I actually think Chengyi fans are very nice and friendly because I've seen what would constitute as real "cyberbullying" in other Chinese actors pages.

It is. I thought it was going to be 7.5 at very least, but not below 7. And the number of raters is too high.…
Compared to the other dramas who were "hits" last year but who still haven't got a rating number that's above 100k or 150k, this number is huge. I'm not comparing it to dramas released years ago, especially when the cdrama audience was still very high and very active. There are only a few dramas from last year who managed to breakthrough 200k/250k raters till date. So yeah, for a drama that some people think is a "flop", it really has a huge number of raters, it was the same with Chengyi's two other dramas. Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 3, released early November, a drama considered highly successful in China, only has 159k raters.

Shine On Me may not have been a huge hit internationally, but it did very well in China. It also already had a huge fanbase because the author has other successful novels that were turned into dramas like Love 020.

I actually think fanwars played a bigger role in the ratings than the Chinese audience being discerning. Many people really enjoyed this drama, and many of them in China, and it grew in popularity solely based on positive word of mouth. It is a highly acclaimed drama over there. No drama is perfect, even though this one came close in terms of the acting, cinematography, production, pacing, plot/storyline etc. As for plot holes, I don't think there were major, major plot hole issues. What I concluded was that maybe they couldn't expand on some things due to the number of episode constraints, so they focused on the most important aspects of story, which I think was well executed.
I think the Chinese audience enjoyed this drama and were proud to see a slightly different but good Chinese original script. Also, I don't think advertisers would continue to pour money on a show that wasn't doing well. They know more about the true data of TV shows than us the audience.

Weibo was 8.3 and there was also these two site that I forgot the names of and their ratings were 8.9 and 8.1…
Ahhh, I loved Love and Redemption😂. It was his 2nd drama that I watched, and my first xianxia drama after avoiding the genre like the plague😭😂. It's where I realised he was a natural at playing romance roles too.
I know beauty is subjective, but I personally chengyi think super good looking and attractive, as for his hands/nails, they look so beautiful and elegant so I don't understand the criticism. I guess since haters can't criticize his acting, they decide to come for his appearance, which just shows how shallow and superficial they are.

I hope the targeted slander and cyberbullying doesn't change him and make him hard hearted. I'm worried though that this might have happened to Zhao Lusi. Because of everything she's gone through and was exposed to, I think her demeanor has become completely different. I hope she can still find some joy in acting and heal and be happy again.

I also hope for the best for Chengyi and that he's protected wherever he goes. C-ent seems like a very dangerous industry. He's also still very young to retire😭, but there are powers that be that want to destroy all his years of hard work. This is so wrong and unfair.
He really is a hard worker. I remember watching a YouTube video where he said when he was off or doesn't have an acting project, he learned martial arts and boxing. He said in his free time, he does things/activities that help him grow and become a better version of himself. I found that very admirable. Also, it explained to me why I found his martial art scenes so good, and the best among the ones I've seen.

I hate unfairness and manipulations, so as someone who loves acting, works super hard, and minds his own business, I hope Chengyi will continue to beat the odds against him and continue gaining the respect and support of people everywhere.

I'm also hoping for more good things to happen to him and his popularity continues to grow. And more great dramas.

I saw some people talk about him leaving his agency, and I hope it's a smooth transition for him if it's true🙏.

I only discovered Cheng Yi this year late August or early September when I decided to give MLC a shot when I was searching for a good wuxia drama with no romance. I've watched other Chinese actors/actresses before but I was never really interested in them beyond the drama. But after watching MLC, not only did I search for and watch his other dramas, I even started following his fanpages on X and Facebook and wanted to keep up to date with what he was doing(I even opened this MDL account so I can rate his dramas😭. That is when I stumbled upon the other side of the C-entertainment/C-drama industry, the data side and how it contributes to most fanwars, and I guess management agencies also contribute too. They quantity everything. We don't have weibo in my country, but his Thailand fanbase on X always includes weibo links and that's how I can access news/posts from weibo about VoA, and all I've seen was positive, so I wasn't aware he was facing so much hate.

I barely know him, but apart from liking chengyi's acting and looks, I liked his personality because he seems like a nice, laid back person who's big on hard work and improving himself, plus I think he's funny. I hope things continue to go well for him and he continues to rise despite the many challenges he's facing.

I really don't understand why he has so many haters because he is so low key and he's barely active anywhere. But I hope this recent negativity surrounding him ends soon because I'm looking forward to seeing what new acting projects he'll take on. I'm hoping romantic thriller, horror, psychological thriller will be on that list🙏😅.

Well, it got a 30000 heat index, a weibo rating of 9.1 and decent views, so some people will consider that a huge heat. And maybe it did slightly better in China than internationally.

Douban 6.9 ~310k votes.Seems a bit low. I thought it would at least break 7.0.
It is. I thought it was going to be 7.5 at very least, but not below 7. And the number of raters is too high. It's rare to even break 100k-150k for most dramas, let alone 300k. Even Shine On Me, which is considered a huge hit, only had 47k raters. I think this douban needs to find a way to fine tune it's algorithm against unfairness.

I saw some people say they are probably waiting for the hype around the drama to die down before they release…
Thank you for your explanation. I did notice that there were some dramas whose ratings were released early during their airing period. To be honest, this was my first time watching and commenting on a drama like this while it was still airing or be interested in all these other things that I didn't even know existed. And I've watched a fair few cdramas. I guess I liked Cheng Yi a little bit too much after watching him on MLC. We'll just have to wait for Youku then.

I had no idea The Longest Promise bombed. I've been meaning to go back and watch it because I stopped watching on ep 2 or 3 when the princess was all grown up and going from mountain to mountain.

It could be.
Another drama that was released on the 10th of December, Silent Tides on iQiyi starring Ren Allen, also doesn't have a douban rating yet. It finished its broadcast around the same time as TVofA. Speed and Love from iQiyi has their rating out already, just like many of the dramas that were released after. I know they aired on different platforms, but these are the only two dramas released in early December that I have seen that don't have their douban ratings out yet.
I don't understand how Netflix could be holding up the release, how they impacts Netflix, especially if it's a good rating. But then again I don't know much about the C-industry.

I wonder why douban still not release cy drama ratings? this drama highly successful both commercially n critical…
I saw some people say they are probably waiting for the hype around the drama to die down before they release the ratings because they are afraid of the backlash if the rating is very low. The drama has received widespread critical acclaim. All other ratings from other platforms are over 8 and everyone has been praising it everywhere, praising both the actors and the overall production. So if there rating is 6 or under, douban will definitely lose credibility. And a 7 rating will also be considered low and unacceptable for many people. I hope they are fair.

You're right his suspicion would have been raised when he saw her at the exact moment he was planning to dig. That was probably confirmation for him that Wanwan indeed was alive,... and maybe a warning for him to stop meddling🤔?
The guessing keeps the conversation about everything happening in the drama fun and engaging🥰.

This! If I'm not mistaken, it was implied they were going to leave, but they never left. Both him and Yang were supposed to have been thrown out a long time ago, most especially when Mr He almost killed Fusheng by smearing Yang's sword with poison. I guess they were persistent and didn't let anyone/anything deter them in their goal of becoming Mr Rong.

After watching ep 15.... I made new guesses. 1. RSB hugged him because she knows if LJL took even a glimpse on…
1. I agree with this one.
2. She knew he was eventually going to figure out that there was something strange about her sister's death so she planned everything in advance. She probably has people following Fusheng.
3. I think he stopped the digging out of guilt for suspecting that she was lying about her sister's death, especially after seeing her "cry". I think right now he's doubting his doubts about the death/funeral. I also think he's not sure if she knows he's lying about the true nature of his relationship with Lang. She's doing so well acting so clueless and continously affirming her trust in him, and this makes him feel guilty when he remembers the most important things she hoped he would never do to her.
4. I don't think he knows about the nanny situation, but her fainting at the mention of the secret chamber must have piqued his interest.
5. Yan probably figured out a long time ago that Fusheng is not an ordinary person and did his research on him and figured out who he is, or he has his own suspicions. He definitely seems to be egging Wen on, but at the same time he's slowly losing his own patience. If he doesn't leave as planned, his true colors are really going to show. But I think the granny will be happy to see him break out of his monk character and scheme his way into her granddaughter's heart.
6. I think he believes he's got the upper hand but I think she knows his every move. I think she knows that he now remembers everything, and his somewhat dismissive attitude regarding his past, as someone who was eager to know his past, after meeting Lang who also just let him go, must have raised her suspicions again about how/why he ended up in the Rong Mansion.
7. While he's testing her loyalty to her, she already knows he's lying and scheming😅.
8. Totally agree.
9. They really are😭. Right now, my money's on RSB having the upper hand and being several steps ahead of Fusheng. But since he's also very calculating, he'll probably figure things out eventually.
10. I don't get this one. I'll probably go back and watch again.

I saw your guesses yesterday and they were all really good and most of them were correct👏👏👏.

It's a very interesting story. To tell you the truth, it's the plotting that keeps me coming back, not about any romance or who will end up with FL. I'm also interested to see how her relationship with her sisters will progress. Will there be an outside threat that will cause them to put their differences aside and work together to protect their family and business, and eventually forgive one another? It can't be all about husbands and tea bone. Also, what's so important about that wife murder case?
I hope it continues to get more and more interesting.

So far, for me, I don't think ML and FL have romantic chemistry, but they have a schemer to schemer type of chemistry. Sometimes I even wonder if they really care about each other or if it's all part of their bigger schemes.
