Maybe they bought their positions. It was not unheard of for people to buy positions of power or imperial exam passes. And once inside, they could have taught themselves everything else as they ingratiated themselves to Liu Ziwen.

Best cdrama of the year for me👏👏, and Cheng Yi top drama for sure.

I have to thank the screenwriters, production team, and all the incredible actors for giving us an amazing show🥳🥰. They didn't drop the ball with this one.

And the way Huai An left him there while he ran after the Tiemo king, it didn't seem like he cared about his injuries or what happened to him next, and this was the emperor, someone who was supposed to be Chang'an's only hope. But also, when the emperor sent the young debt collector away to protect Zhang Mo's father, as you said, that could have been when they switched him with another person with his face or, according to my theory, YFS was planning to quietly disappear but was suddenly attacked in the smoke.
But seriously, I can't wait to see how the screenwriters will end this.

I'm also hoping that a few good people survive at least🙏.

I don't think Huai An entered Cangshui River blindly following Tiemo king's plan of killing Wuyang. I think he had already set up a plan in motion even before meeting with the Tiemo king.

A theory I have is that the hooded figure who rescued Ye Zheng was emperor Wuyang and he's the same cloaked figure seen in the upcoming trailers. I think YFS and Huai An talked about other things that night, and he may have told him about the Tiemo people and their infiltration of Chang'an and about the imprisoned Tiemo king. So I think either Huai An secretly sent another swordsman back to Cangshui River with the emperor's face or it was YFS who was given the emperor face and sent to Cangshui River to await further instructions from him. That is why the "emperor" kept saying he was waiting for word/direction from Huai An. Maybe he wanted YFS and Tiemo king to kill each other like what happened with his uncle and Mr Pu. I also think Huai An knew deposed emperor would turn against them whilst under Tiemo king's control. And in episode 20, Huai An told the soldiers that the emperor was safe and he will appear in a few days.

There's a poster released that said 4 out of the 6 revenge deaths have been carried out, so 2 deaths left. The dead so far are Mr Pu, the uncle, the guy who was buried alive, YFS. The ones who are still alive are Qingyi and the unidentified man who we now know is the Tiemo king. But my thinking is that, for helping him, didn't he promise granny that he won't kill Qingyi? Will he go back on his words and seek him out and kill him? Or he considers Qingyi dead to him and pardoned him because of his adoptive mother's help? I mean, in a way, Huai An also didn't want Mr Pu to die because he had helped him these past years. Anyways, that would make the deaths still yet to come 2, YFS and Tiemo king. If YFS switched faces with Wuyang, then he's the one held prisoner by the Tiemo and suffering at the hands of deposed emperor(who stabbed him, caused him to be blinded, and cut off his arm) like he caused him to suffer while he was his puppet emperor. Plus, Huai An also said he didn't want a quick death for him but wanted him to suffer slowly and painfully.

I know I'm grasping at straws to make my YFS is alive theory more believable, please bear with me😭🤪.

Let's await the twists and turns and the mind-boggling surprises we expect to see in The Vendetta of An's final episodes.

A character we are yet to see the face of but who seems to be very important is the Grand Preceptor, aka Cen Pickles. I wonder what role he'll play in the grand scheme of things in the remaining episodes after the shopkeeper delivered Huai An's red flag to him.

I watched the previews. Just speculation, but do you think it's possible that they switched Yan Feng Shan's face with Emperor Wuyang's? Huai An did say he didn't want him to die right away but wanted him to suffer. The one who fought with Tiemo king, got stabbed by deposed emperor, blinded, and his arm cut off could very well be YFS, suffering as Huai An intended. And the cloaked person could be Emperor Wuyang.
I'm really excited for tomorrow.

In today's episode, the deposed emperor does stab his brother who's eyes are then blinded by Tiemo king, and after, they take him prisoner because they promised the deposed emperor they won't kill his brother as long as he agrees to be their puppet emperor.

The reason why I don't think they changed emperor Wuyang's face is because I don't think there would have been time to cultivate a new face plus who would have had the skills to pull it off except for Zhi long? And Zhilong would have told his king that he was facing against a fake Wuyang. For now, I think it's the real Emperor Wuyang that was imprisoned by the Tiemo and that Huai An didn't kill YFS but they both have some sort of plan in place to win against the Tiemo, but I'm prepared to be proven wrong since this drama has many twists and turns.

I don't think the emperor was supposed to be killed. Didn't the puppet emperor say the Tiemo king promised not to kill his brother if he was willing to be his puppet? So they imprisoned Wuyang not killed him.

I didn't watch the previews, but I saw many people on weibo saying Yan Feng Shan is not dead based on the 25/26 episodes previews🙆‍♀️. I have to say, it did cross my mind for a minute that what if Huai An didn't kill YFS and it wasn't his head he showed to the commander?

I'm really happy for Cheng Yi that he's ending the year on a high. The drama is highly acclaimed and his performance is also being praised. This is wonderful and well-deserved for him and everyone involved.

Now my wish is that they release Hero Legends next year so that we don't face a Cheng Yi drought😭.
