Im not african so idk how you felt about it, but in my opinion it was because Africa is known for its beautiful…
clearly you do have something to say about "what i call racism" (interesting way to put that) since you said OP made excuses to bring the drama down. that was the only context they gave to what they said. saying no one watches it is another thing entirely imo, and i get where you're coming from on that
Im not african so idk how you felt about it, but in my opinion it was because Africa is known for its beautiful…
lol those weren't excuses, that was a genuine critique about a drama publicizing stereotypes of a whole continent AGAIN. just bc you don't care/agree doesn't mean they're a troll like bffr
fr i fear nothing's gonna top tkop for me. this and the glory haven't come close
"I meant at the EXPENSE. I went with the french word for it and it changed the whole meaning sorry!!!" oh no worries, i got what you were saying!
"you let me know if you ever watch it and what you thought of it if you finish it! My mister will still leave you warm, it's a confort in a cold way, if that makes sense." of course!! please send me a message and let me know about how you liked dr foster and twotm! we've recommended a lot of dramas to each other already haha. it was nice speaking with you <3
fr i fear nothing's gonna top tkop for me. this and the glory haven't come close
sorry for the long pause!
yoooooo not the sewer lmfao!!!!!! i said i knew it was garbage but turns out it was me :/ you know what....yeah that can't be defended but imma stand by it !!
"I'm conflicted about which version to watch because I do love how british people shoot their shows !!" oh man, that's a toss up since i really liked them both. they each had their strengths. the british version is much more gritty, condensed, and was willing to display the main character as deeply flawed (yes, you'll empathize w her for being cheated on but she flew off the deep end many times lol. idk how many times they both made me wanna break my computer). the korean version softens her up a bit and shows a more compassionate angle but you'll still wanna rip your hair out. be warned that some people didn't like the ending - maybe bc they're fluffy romance fans. but it's fitting for the type of drama it is. also since you love dramas w power dynamics, i think you should also def try misty!
"I feel like if you could hold on to Mr.Sunshine, you can do these two. Only these have less episodes :)" aww you sold them well! i think i'll go ahead and check them out. my liberation sounds more comforting so i think i'll save that for when aunt flo comes to visit haha
fr i fear nothing's gonna top tkop for me. this and the glory haven't come close
" I think it's because we value our ratings more than them" yeah ratings are subjective so i guess we're just more critical with ours
"you saw it when you could like it" sis.... don't kill me but i only watched this for the first time recently (like within the past few months lmfao). but WAIT HOLD ON....it's problematic like i get it 1000000% and it's messed up on so many levels but idk man i just saw the humor. it's so over the top ridiculous, idk how people took it seriously. i was in the middle of watching secret garden before i had to pause it and it's pretty much the same. just a bunch of macho misogynistic shit but it's so nostalgic? that era is my problematic fav, a guilty pleasure perhaps? haha
"the historical and class context explains the modesty of the main couple. " oh for sure. that kills me in modern romances. we all know people aren't that shy and modest irl. why is it taking 12 episodes for yall to hold hands? let's be fr lol. i put off mr sunshine for so long because i thought it'd just be a boring romance story. i was surprised how much politics and power dynamics were involved. made me wish the romance parts were longer. the world of the married is nothing like that, just as a warning lol. i'd hardly call it a romance, more like the complete antithesis of romance? if you've seen the british show dr.foster, it's a remake of that so you'll know what i mean. but yeah definitely don't watch it when you wanna watch something fluffy!
i was gonna ask about my mister and my liberation note! i tend to stay away from melos because they bore me to tears or depress me lol. what'd you like about them?
fr i fear nothing's gonna top tkop for me. this and the glory haven't come close
"Some are not even accurate because I watched them a while a go when my standards were a little lower." you know what, i'll periodically go through my list if i have the time and re-rate some dramas. it's wild to me that people will have a bunch of 10s on their list like there's no way you loved everything you watched be fr!
"noooo, how dare you? This kdrama belongs to sewer please T_T" nooooo wait!!! hear me out lmao. the hair, the music, the bullying one second and then falling in love? made no sense but it was just so camp, so good, so *chef's kiss* also maybe bc i'm old and had just finished high school when it came out so it made me feel nostalgic idk but everybody has their trashy fav haha
yeah you know what, that's a good point about romance. maybe bc like i said i'm older than a lot of watchers on here but i love a mature couple. doesn't even have to be a romance story either but something about couples like the world of the married, 18 again, misty was right up my alley. i'm not a big fan of historicals but i did like mr sunshine (tbh i was kinda annoyed that it didn't have MORE romance? lol) so i'll def have to check out red sleeve, thanks!
yeeessss please let me know! i highly recommend reset! also someday or one day (taiwanese) if you're looking for a romance element. i'll have to add better days to my list too. and speaking of writing, it seems like dramas are only written by one person. it's a shame bc i'm so used to shows having teams of writers. i'm sure they're given assists but the responsibility falls on the shoulder of just the screenwriter. these production companies are stingy
fr i fear nothing's gonna top tkop for me. this and the glory haven't come close
"I usually go to one of my 10/10 kdramas and go on the watchlist of people who rated it 10/10 too to see if they have the same taste than me and then just watch what they rated good lool" looool sometimes i'll even check out the watchlist for people who gave poor ratings to the same dramas i did, or even made comments i agreed with (like you haha!)
i've come to realize i actually do kinda like romances, i'm just not a huge fan of kdrama ones bc they're so corny. i can sometimes see the cringe as kinda camp tho so i'll end up enjoying it for the wrong reasons (like boys over flowers lol). but yeah people for sure hype up dramas bc they like the star. not bc they're particularly talented or the plot but bc they're just obsessed. and they take any criticism PERSONALLY. i don't blame you for being cautious
i thought the same thing when i watched cdramas. feel free to check out my list since we have similar taste. i've been branching out to other asian thrillers since it seems like i only really enjoy 1 or 2 kdramas a year lately ;_;
fr i fear nothing's gonna top tkop for me. this and the glory haven't come close
"It's not surprising when you see the kind of popular dramas on this site, the plots are usually empty." exactly!!! it drives me crazy bc if i make/read a critique in the comments, someone will reply back saying it's an issue of taste. i mean, sure to some extent....but some plots are just objectively terrible.
there have been a few times now where i'll watch a highly rated drama only to find out it was complete shit and the people hyping it up were fans of the actors 💀 this is why i've just resorted to either reading negative reviews first or looking through people's watchlist to see if we've rated things similarly. i guess this is also why i've started watching cdrama thrillers lately. their dramas aren't as overinflated as kdramas are, plus they're less predictable and don't tend to add unnecessary romance
fr i fear nothing's gonna top tkop for me. this and the glory haven't come close
i just read your exchange and they made some valid points but it doesn't change the fact that luck was still a huge factor in her revenge. for someone who's had 20 years to plan, there should be no room for error. but i suppose in dramaland, i've learned to just shut off my brain and suspend belief with certain dramas because nothing will make 100% sense lol
we'll see if part 2's any better. i'm gonna be so angry if she falls in love with the main bully's husband and decides to ease up based on feelings
fr i fear nothing's gonna top tkop for me. this and the glory haven't come close
i think that would've been clear to see even without watching tkop lol. she heavily relies on luck, and that's the complete opposite of what i wanna see in a cold, calculated revenge thriller
the flashbacks were a drag. i get they were trying to go for a whole lost vibe but we were left with way too many unanswered questions in the end. wish i didn't bother
To be honest I skipped all of the scenes with Lee Do Hyun in them, I dont hate him I just think his character…
yeah tbh the only thing that caught my eye while i was fast forwarding was lee moo saeng lol. other than that, i find his character to be a waste of time. guess we'll see if that changes in part 2
nothing special about this drama honestly... not what i expected. the ratings are unbelievably high though, I'm…
yeah this was underwhelming for me too. the storyline's been done a million times - which is fine - but nothing about the way it was told was that interesting
webtoon readers are saying this 1st season was just set up to be the ml's backstory and it gets better. i'd consider watching s2 if that's the case
