I agree that what we're about to see is extremely cruel. And while there's no excuse for that I kind of feel that…
Which short cdramas with an age gap are your favourites? I've started short cdramas this year and I think I prefer proper long dramas. The 2-3 minute episodes feels disjointed for me and I struggle to get into the story and characters. I liked Starlit Bloom (it's also jiejieromance) but it had longer episodes ( around 15 min).

Oh yes, I've rewatched this year The Rational Life, My Fated Boy, Falling Into You and Why Women Love (I agree that this wasn't that good) because of how disappointing noona romances are this year! About Deep Affection Eyes - I've seen it and it's not a noona romance. She's only 2 years older than him (29/27). I only finished this one thanks to the secondary characters and the cute scenes with Fang Ya En, her child and Cheng Kai Ran. I didn’t like the ML’s acting, and the main intrigue was IMO boring and too unbelievable. It was 4/10 for me :D
The breakup scene wasn’t as bad as I imagined. They were both at fault. She could have tried from the start to persuade him about a long-distance relationship for two years, instead of bringing it up in the middle of a fight - especially when she had lied to him the whole time about going with him. They both said some harmful things to each other, and he was just as unreasonable as she was. I’m fine with this breakup. They both needed time apart to sort out their feelings and lives.

I love them too. I have a list of almost 200 dramas with this trope that I’ve seen :D It’s really difficult to find a decent noona romance but China has produced some good ones. This year, though, has been quite disappointing for me in this department - especially when it comes to k-dramas.
that part was not on the novel, it's really heartbreaking, how did she had the guts to do that to him 😭
I also think that what she did in the drama is extremely cruel, and I can't blame him for being an asshole when he sees her again. The thing is, in the novel their relationship is hardly a healthy one. She takes him in when he's like 15 or 16, so I'm glad that they changed it here. There is no breakup in the novel but they argue a lot over silly stuff and miscommunication, and instead of talking it over, they're just having hate sex lol (he was already a university student then). I remember Li Wu saying something like, only when they're having sex does he feel like an equal to her. So I can understand why they wanted a separation time in the drama, it's much more appropriate and gives both of them time to grow and spend time apart.
