There was no man to man romance to start with... It was a man and a woman inside a woman's body... The king was completely straight... BH and the king would have never even be friends if they met as men because BH didn't had any sort of sense of justice whereas the king was all for justice... So bong started to care for the king only after the soul merge... Even till the kim clan tried to kill sobong, the BH part inside the queen was more than ready to betray the king for his own safety... That was how selfish and self centred BH was... It's the emotions and values of SY that changed BH... Infact they didn't even give any importance to the romance until the soul merge... There were a lot of comments that shipped the queen with BI or even the queen and BH because during the entire first half there was no attachment b/w those two...

You don't have to bow down to their decision but there is no need to criticize an entire country... Sk also makes movies and webseries that are very bold...

Sobong was bi for sure as she liked the king and if got a chance would have had sexual relationship with women as well... But that was solely because the BH part of the soul of a man who likes women and SY's part of the soul who was already in love with the king...

They make dramas for primarily korean audiences and to satisfy korean general public... So obviously they will keep the mindset of their people in mind while making it... They have to keep a lot of things in mind while airing a show on prime time...
If after knowingly everything and still want kdramas to be the way you want it to be then it's upto you and not the korean audience or korean entertainment industry...

If you don't like typical sk endings then there are more than enough countries that gives the kind of dramas you want to watch... You are free to watch them instead of criticizing an entire country because you are not satisfied...

Fyi Korea also makes movies and webseries and musical plays that are very bold and don't shy away from controversial topics... The korean general public has no problem with it... If they chose to keep kdramas family friendly it's their choice... Kdrama is one of the few industry that kept giving new contents during this tough times and if they don't want to get in controversy then they have every right to...

Until the soul merge and so bong started giving importance to the king, there were a lot of people who didn't like the king or shipped the queen with the cousin or even BH... When BH was in complete control over the body he never ever cared that the king existed...
Almost all the crucial point of the romance ended up in comedy... Except for the politics, everything else ended up in comedy...

Ya i agree that filmmakers cannot tell the audience how to interpret a story but we as audience don't watch a chick flick or a comedy the same way we watch melodrama or tragedy... We cannot expect the same kind of characterization in a comedy and a tragedy... In a comedy Ross's 3 unsuccessful marriage is passed off as a joke but in a melodrama it will be tackled in an emotional way by showing what 2 people go through during separation... The topic of divorce can be showing in differently based on the genre of the show...

In Mr queen the main reason why BH's personality was dominating majority of the time was for the comedy it will create rather than for the love story and romance... Mr.queen's main focus was never the love story but the comedy and the laugher part... This will be one of the very few sageuks that maintained its comic elements throughtout it's run... They wanted to tell a story of a man trapped in a woman's body in a hilarious way and not the story of a man trapped in a woman's body falling in love with another man... That's why they kept so young alive and came up with the soul merging and all...
The reason why the love story got noticed was because of the chemistry b/w the actors... If we look back almost all their intimate scenes were for comedy... Even though they had a long kissing scene, it was hilarious, even though they slept together it was never taken seriously and ended up in a lot more hilarious scenes...
It's also because people love the chemistry that a lot of people don't mind the king and queen ending up together because for a lot of people seeing kjh and shs happy and together is all that matters...

I think viki has almost all dramas for free... It's only viki original or ongoing dramas that need a pass... Atleast that's how it's in my region...
If I wait for 2-3 weeks then the entire mr.queen will be available for free... Right now it's free only upto ep 15..

For me also everything was clear from the start and i expected this ending and without too many bloodshed.

I don't know if it's ps but his eyelashes are very distracting... He has long black eyelashes that makes it look like he used eyeliners...
