did i say i hate dosan? i said turn off about his character and why he failed to attack a majority of the audience... if there are two person... one succeeded in life with all the hardship and the other dwelled over the hardship its human nature to look up to the former person... everyone look up to successful people and everyone likes to watch stories about people who went against all the odds and made it big... if there are 2 kids who are crying.. one for a dead puppy and other for a dead parent a third person will automatically sympathize more for the kid who lost his parent over the kid who lost his puppy... the pain they both are going through are big for them but a 3rd person will automatically give more attention to the one who lost his parent... for audience the hardship hjp and dalmi went through made them sympathize with those characters more than dosan... dosan had a lot more things to cherish about himself than to dwell over the loses he had... he could have had the same determination and competitiveness for the sake of his parents and his friends who believed in him and supported him for yrs... but he chose to succeed only when dalmi entered his life... he didnt care for the fact that his parents spend so much money on him... even when he and dalmi screwed up the contract he didnt care that his friends will get a better opportunity and wanted to put everything at stake and fight against a big corporate for dalmi...

even though i liked his character in wlfkbj i wasnt really impressed by the acting of both the leads esp the FL... she makes unnecessary weird face expressions throughout the drama... she did the same in cheese in the trap as well... startup is the first drama where i found his acting to be good... i havent seen school nurse and his other drama with ha ji min...
i guess the biggest turn-off about dosan's character is the other 2 leads had a much harder childhood than him but they didnt feel inferior to anyone because of it, didnt dwell over their past, and wanted to succeed in the future... dosan with pressurizing parents comes off as nothing in front of dalmi who has a broken family and an emotional death of a parent or hjp who basically had no parents, no shelter, and no money at such a young age... the only warmth he ever had was grandma... on the other hand dosan had a very loving mother and if he chose to open up the mother would have understood him... the mother is not submissive in front of the father and can claer make her stands clear in front of her husband so if dosan had the strength to open up and tell how hard it is for him his mother would have stood up for him and he could have had a more happy childhood... dalmi have a mother and sister who abonded her, a dead father and an aging grandmother, she couldnt even attend college and secure a good job but she still managed to be confident... HJP made it to the top with his talent and nothing else.... then we have dosan who has been leaving off his parents for 3 yrs with his 2 friends... even ater starting a business for 3 yrs none of the 3 knows the abcd of how to even start a business properly... all the other characters atleast tried to change their life on their own whereas dosan just sat idle till dalmi showed up and became his dream... he then prioritized her over his parents and 2 best friends... thats such a turn off for a character... he blamed everything on his misforture and self victimized himself...

Even though she loved the ML more she did had feelings for the SL... Most of the other kdramas have just have a love triangle for namesake where the FL don't even know the SL loves her and SL falls for the FL just because she is the FL...

They gave both the guys equal field... the SL was still important to her till the end... In this one there is an extremely forced love triangle just for the sake of it... Dalmi never showed any sort of interest in hjp even after knowing he wrote those letters and he likes her and still they stretched the love triangle for 15 long episodes by just making hjp misserable for God knows why... It could have ended with hjp and dalmi having a proper talk before the lead or when they were friends for 3 long years... Even when hjp openly expressed his feelings multiple times dalni just stayed still... She had all the time in the world when he stayed at her house and they were talking to make things clear with him but she just sat there and ate carrot like a rabbit... why was she even hesitating to reject hjp and draw the line when he can being so upfront with his feelings?

If you see the initial episodes it was clearly indicated that dalni still prefered the dosan from letters just few days before the truth revelation... Then after the truth she was literally like a robot in front of hjp... Stares at him with a blank expression...
