Now that I think of, boys over flowers (which is my most hated kdrama) had a proper love triangle... The female lead had feelings for both of them and she was conflicted for sometimes as well... Even though she loved the ML more she did had feelings for the SL...
Most of the other kdramas have just have a love triangle for namesake where the FL don't even know the SL loves her and SL falls for the FL just because she is the FL...

Ya.. they made the entire police department dumb just to show how smart the FL is... That's one of the things I didn't like about the drama...

There was no proper love triangle... As much as I hate boys over flowers that show did had a proper love triangle because the FL did love the SL at first and even after falling for the ML she still had strong feelings for the SL... They gave both the guys equal field... the SL was still important to her till the end...
In this one there is an extremely forced love triangle just for the sake of it... Dalmi never showed any sort of interest in hjp even after knowing he wrote those letters and he likes her and still they stretched the love triangle for 15 long episodes by just making hjp misserable for God knows why... It could have ended with hjp and dalmi having a proper talk before the lead or when they were friends for 3 long years... Even when hjp openly expressed his feelings multiple times dalni just stayed still... She had all the time in the world when he stayed at her house and they were talking to make things clear with him but she just sat there and ate carrot like a rabbit... why was she even hesitating to reject hjp and draw the line when he can being so upfront with his feelings?

Ya.. just bare with the FL and its a good drama... If they wrote the FL better and promoted it well then the drama could have been more noticed...

The drama could have been still saved if dalmi and hjp talked and cleared everything before the leap and after the leap they just stayed good friends... Dosan can misunderstand their closeness and keep his distance if the makers didn't want dodal to get together right away after the leap... Hjp pinning over dalmi even after 3yrs was way too much...

It seems the other way around... The makers were actually planning for a more intense love triangle but decided to side line hjp completely due to his rising popularity... In some episodes after 5-6 he is barely there for 5-6mins and the letters were buried deep down like they don't even exist...
If you see the initial episodes it was clearly indicated that dalni still prefered the dosan from letters just few days before the truth revelation... Then after the truth she was literally like a robot in front of hjp... Stares at him with a blank expression...

You make dosan and hjp sound like psychopaths... Lol

If you look at their actors list soop has such good actors with them... Out of them I guess njh and Suzy are the least polished ones and the ph and the agency decided to put them together... dont know what they were thinking...
I guess njh does better when his co-star is a better actor... I haven't seen his last drama but I have heard he did well in it and he was cast opposite ha ji min, even in school nurse files I have heard he did well and it also has a well established actress...
In startup also he does well in scenes opposite kim seon ho better than with Suzy... the initial scenes of hjp-dosan and their funny batters were entertaining....

I loved his movie exit... He was amazing in it and surprisingly yoona wasn't bad either

Moon ga young is quite underrated... I have only seen her in Waikiki and exo next door but I liked her in both...
Nam ji Hyun is also good at playing these kind of roles...
Surprisingly both of them already worked with kim seon ho...
I would have said kim yoo jung as well but she is too young to play the role...

The writing was really bad... I cannot remember a drama were the writer screwed up both the leads apart from the heirs...

I think the writing and acting can actually make people sympathy with a character which in real life would be an irritating character...
So many people sympathizes with the 2nd lead of extraordinary you even though he was a complete jerk simply because the actor was really good in his emotional scenes...
JCW in empress ki stole the limelight by playing a cowardly scared good for nothing spoiled brat of an emperor who lacks a backbone... It's a result of good writing and good acting... His character was truly pathetic in every possible way... He managed to gain the attention against a very manly upright and strong male lead because he also had immense screen presence...
Infact dosan is nothing in front of how pathetic the emporer was...

There are a lot of bad characters in the fiery priest but except for the main villian the audience feel sympathetic to the rest of them because their emotional scenes are written very well and had good actors playing those roles...

He might belong to the set of actors that blindly does what the director tells him to do and not bring his own perspective and colour to the character... May be that's why he did a good job in the first 4-5 episodes because those episodes and his character were well written till them... But after that he himself couldn't connect with what's happening to his character and just did what the director told him to do...
As I say he isn't a very strong actor and don't really have this immense screen presence... So if his character is not well written he cannot make it stand out solely with his acting abilities...

Instead of Njh i would say Suzy didn't do much justice to dalmi as she had a blank expression in almost all the scenes that didn't had dialogues... She is passable when she has to express her emotions through dialogues or the scene is right out crying or laughing... But she fails badly when her character has to show emotions through expression and subtlility... i guess any actress in her late 20s or early 30s with a decent acting skills would have done a better job as dalmi...

Not really... It's the bad writing... Nam joo hyuk was really good in the first 4-5 episodes till dosan started being out of character...I won't say he is an amazing actor or a strong actor but he is decent enough to not ruin a character with his acting.. the last drama I saw of him was bride of habaek and compared to that he improved drastically...But the problem is both hjp as a character and ksh as an actor are too strong that neither dosan nor njh stand a chance... Kim seon ho played second lead in 100days my prince which was a bigger hit than startup but nobody rooted for his character like this because his character didn't overshadow the male lead and kyungsoo was very interesting as the male lead... In that also he loved the FL but everyone was more invested in the leads as they had good chemistry as well...Funfact: in 100days my prince he confesses his feelings to the FL and she right away rejects him.. the story was set centuries ago and the FL still had the guts and mouth to say no... Start up is set in 21st century and dalni don't know how to say no...
