the makers might have wanted to give him a role as important as the male lead but due to his immense popularity they realised they cannot give him an equally important role so they cut off his screentime drastically... in some episodes he was only there for like 5 mins... he barely has scenes with dalmi and in any of those scenes dalmi shows any kind of romantic interest in him...

the makers chose him because he is a good actor but they didnt think that his character and acting will overshadow the leads like this... a lot of times the actor playing second lead ends up being a better actor but rarely he steals the spotlight completely from the male lead who will be played by a very popular actor...
