i guess they wrote it with dosan as the male lead and wanted him to be the unconventional kdrama lead like the ML from camellia blooms but somehow HJP stole the show... the makers might have thought that since NJH is way more popular than KSH, audience will root for dosan no matter what but it backfired... for the last 2-3 episodes HJP is not even getting much screen-time and he is still getting more popular by each passing episode... they might have not expected that KSH's acting will overshadow literally everything in the drama... even though KSH is good-looking, he exactly isnt the macho or chocolaty kind of actor that international fans gets obsessed with... so the makers might have thought dosan wont be overshadowed by HJP... i guess if dosan was played by someone as big as kim soo hyun or lee minho who have immensely crazy fan following, then no matter how good HJP's characterization and kim seonho's acting was, dosan would have still got the support of majority of the audience... even though NJH is popular than kim seonho his popularity is mainly due to his goodlooks than his acting skills... he did improve a lot from what i have seen of him from weightlifting fairy and bride of haebok but he isnt in a stage where he can make an unattractive character attractive solely with his acting skills...

i didnt know he is a theater actor... havent done much research on him... no wonder he is this good... even his small gestures and expressions are spot on... he should have tried to get into dramas/movies a long time ago... he would have been in the list of ultimate oppas like kim soo hyun and ji chang wook...

neither NDS nor HJP is perfect... they both have flaws and they both have really good quality but HJP just comes off as more matured one... i think HJP is the one with more charisma and thats one of the many reason audience felt attracted towards him more...
the thing is people dont watch kdramas(esp rom-coms) to see ordinary simple day to day male leads... they need super cool alpha male leads... i understood it when people criticized ji chang wook's character in backstreet rookies.. except for lacking self confidence and cool quotient( he wasnt very ambitious and just wanted to have a normal simple life) he was literally a very upright perfect guy but most of the people including some jcw fans didnt like his character and called him spineless and a coward when he simply choose to solve issues in a non-violent way... i have also seen a lot of people having the same opinion about kang haneul's character from camellia blooms... but to his advantage there wasnt any cool macho male character in that drama and basically every other male character had flaws which made the ML seemed like the better guy... for one kang haneul's acting was amazing and then none of the other male characters had the quality to overshadow him... even though in fight for my way the ML was struggling to make a career like nam do san he still had a lot of coolness in him...

i certainly wont be disappointed because i dont really care with whom dalmi ends up with and i am almost sure she will end up with dosan... its just that HJP is the most attractive factor of the drama and as of now the only way to make dosan more appealing is to butcher HJP's character which they havent done till now... as long as dosan's every move depends on dalmi he wont have a good character development and the writers are clearly going that way...

i feel it will be unfair to HJP only if there is a time jump where dosan is out of the picture and dalmi spends time with him, gets to know him and then leaves him in the cold the moment dosan comes back... you know the typical kdrama formula were the SL takes care of the FL, gives her emotional support when the ML is away but she completely forgets his existence as soon as the ML arrives... from whatever is shown as of now dosan and dalmi's relationship dont seem to be special enough for her to wait for dosan for 2-3 yrs and not give any other guys a chance like she did with old dosan esp if she becomes a successful matured ceo...
dalmi had a hard life and if she wants a guy who will agree to everything she says and will do everything for her then its perfectly fine... she also dont have much experience dating other guys... so its not like she is done with dating cutiepie guys and want a more matured and stable guy in her life...

hjp clearly was interested in reading dalmi's letters outside the shop in the night... if according to you he didnt show any excitement then he didnt show any kind of disinterest either... there is a reason why HJP's character became more appealing to most of the people... one of the major reason is both the actors playing young and older HJP did an amazing job at portraying every emotion HJP felt... not everything should be conveyed through dialogues... when HJP denied he had feelings for dalmi in front of the grandma from his expressions it was clear that he himself is confused and dont have a clear answer to that question... this is the advantage of casting strong actors... they can convey the emotions without many dialogues...
i never projected him as dalmi's special childhood friend and i like hjp solely based on how his character is building up... the dosan hjp and grandma created wasnt 100% real but over a time hjp did write about himself without realizing it else he wouldnt have put his real dob on the letters... its not that hard to make up a fake dob... it is a fact that HJP knows what dalmi went through when she was writing those letters because she wasn't faking it and his attachment to dalmi is not solely because of grandma...

when did hjp steal grandma's money? and who told grandma to not keep a stranger? her own son and granddaughter didnt know a boy was living in her store... literally no one knew he was staying with grandma... you are exaggerating the smallest of things into some unforgivable crime... hjp had no other option but to use grandma's account... he didnt steal anyone's money... he earned that money with his ow ability...
i suggest you watch the first ep again... he clearly remembered the name and hjp is not someone who will randomly follow a girl... he just pretended in front of grandma that he dont clearly remembers the name...
hjp dont share the same romantic feelings dalmi shared about the letters but he respects her feelings enough to keep those letters with him till now... i never said he also had romantic feelings for dalmi 15 yrs back... i just said he understood the importance of his letters to her and respected the way she felt while writing those letters to him...
