I want an honest opinion- is this worth my time? The premise has me intrigued but I'm weary...*Fangirls/ boys of…
if you like dark fantasy genre then you might like this one... it dont have much comedy or light hearted scenes like goblin or hotel del luna so dont expect this to be like goblin just because ldw is again playing a supernatural character..
I usually tend to drop famous or highly rated dramas that otherf likes for some reason, but this one I stayed…
i think except for being a supernatural being there is nothing common b/w grim reaper and lee yeon... grim reaper was somewhat innocent and kind of like this awkward nerd guy (hot nerd ofcourse) whereas lee yeon is full on alpha male kind of guy...
the synopsis of the drama gives people a completely different idea of the drama... it dont even give 10% of the actual story... i guess most people got disappointed in the drama because everyone was hoping for another goblin or hotel del luna with romance as the central plot but this was much darker and complicated than those... it has too much Korean folklore attached to it which is hard for international fans to understand unless we do our research...
this drama without a doubt has some of the creepiest scenes in kdrama... in this episode itself jiah's dream was creepy, imoogi hypnotizing people is creepy and the end scene where jiah reveals her inner imoogi is also creepy... are they implying there are two imoogis or jiah just have a part of it in her?
the kid is such a cutie-pie and his scenes with yuri are good...
yuri and rang have such a special relationship... i dont see anything romantic b/w them but there is genuine affection and respect b/w them... its kind of like yeon and shinjoo...
imoogi already kind of hypnotized shinjoo and the snail bride and they might act on his commade when yeon will be least expecting it... i just hope yeon wont end up in a position where he himself has to kill shinjoo... if so i will cry a bucket...
even though lee yeon is more than 1000 yrs old the guy is completely clueless on how to impress his gf's parents... the way he gifted a car just because jiah's colleagues told him to gift them something expensive was hilarious... i liked all the scenes b/w jiah and lee yeon in this episode... they started to look like a real couple now... i just hope the makers dont cut out the bed scene in the next episode(which we will have to wait for longer than usual)
i hate how they ended the episode and now we have to wait 2 weeks for the next episode... i guess by then i will just rewatch the first 12 episodes if i get time...
one thing i found silly was how yeon asked sae rom and jae hwan to do research on imoogi... how come yeon has so little knowledge about other supernatural things? imoogi by now knows literally everything about the world even after being locked out from the world for 600yrs...
There was an entire debate on this topic months ago, though I did not participate in it, and therefore could not…
i made my point pretty clear with examples and why i understand there are less female characters in dramas like kingdom(netlfix) or movies like 300 and why it is justified to have less female characters in those dramas whereas there is no valid reason for lesser female characters in a drama like untamed with so many major characters... woman can practice night hunting, woman can be clan heads and hold important positions in the world of the untamed but still, they weren't whereas in kingdom women cannot be part of the army or cannot hold important positions in those times... its as clear as it is...

to start with i only watched 80+ dramas, the rest are movies... then i clearly stated that before this drama, i never felt any drama had this less female characters and if there were i understood why, like in the case of kingdom... criticizing a character( regardless of their gender) and pointing out lack of characters from one gender is entirely different... i am pointing out the lack of presence of one gender in a drama with 50 episodes and with so many important characters...
again, i never compared the heirs to the untamed... you said the untamed is written by a woman as if women writers are incapable of writing weak female characters and i gave heirs, which has one of the most irritating female lead as an example that female writers can screw up female characters and that too lead characters... gender of the writer has nothing to do with the lack of female characters or the strength of a female character in a show... there is no rule that female writers are incapable of writing weak female characters or male writers are incapable of writing strong female characters...
if i remember i think the legal age for consent is 16 in korea... infact 16 yr olds can get married with the permission of their parents... there is even a movie called 'my little bride' where the FL is 16 and gets married... DY and DJ got married when they were in highschool... during 2002 world cup DJ and DH were 20 (19 internationally) and the kids were already at least 6 months old... dont think alcohol is 20 because in almost all college based dramas they show freshers party in a bar with them having drinks... korean age counting is kind of confusing... 20 in korea is 18-19 internationally... they add 1 or 2 yrs based on the month one is born..
Well, in the movie version 17 again.. Zac Efron also kissed an old lady and Zac Efron was only 21 at that time…
i guess i didnt mind the character age that much considering he was trapped in a younger body but he is actually a guy in his 40s... i guess i would have be fine with the romance if the older version of DY was never shown in the present at all like in the movie and his appearance was limited till the flashback scenes... i also felt she was much more attracted towards the younger DY than older DY...

if you are talking about me criticism the female characters.. yes there are plenty of dramas that i dropped because of weak female characters and there are plenty of dramas in which i have criticized the male characters and even dropped as well... my criticism for a character is not based on their gender... if this one was a drama based on an imaginary world where women were in power and it didnt had enough male characters then i would have said the drama didnt had enough male characters... as i told before i would have understood that the drama didnt had enough female characters if there were rules that women cannot do night hunt or become cultivators or clan heads... but that's not the case... forgive me for bringing another drama as an example but i dont know how to explain this to you without an example... in kingdom also there were very few female characters, to be precise only 2 major female characters throughout the drama but i didnt feel the lack of female characters in it because the entire setting is of soldiers and people in power fighting against zombies and its set in ancient times... so its understandable why there is a lack of female characters in the drama...they didnt recruit women in the army and women didnt hold officer or minister posts... fyi kingdom is also written by a woman...
i loved the flying kiss lee yeon gave the gatekeeper... some of his small actions and expressions are interesting... i really thought the ceo will die in this episode but i enjoy it everytime LY scares the shit out of him... i wish the ceo has a terrible death... he irritates me with his manipulation... so imoogi is way older than lee yeon and still have an inferiority complex... lol i didnt get what imoogi said about 'not being able to turn to a dragon'.. the dialogues are so fast that at times its hard to keep up with the subtitles...
why does jiah's parents kind of look aloof when she met them? did something change in them after being trapped in that cherry for so long?
i like how smart most of the characters are and its hard to fool both imoogi and lee yeon... it more fun to watch when the villian and the hero are equally smart and clever...
yuri, shinjoo and the kid are so adorable together... i hope there are more scenes with the 3... the more yuri gets attached to shinjoo the more i worry about his life... the news of the spinoff is making me worried about him further...
i am scared for shinjoo and basically everyone for the next episode...
Well, in the movie version 17 again.. Zac Efron also kissed an old lady and Zac Efron was only 21 at that time…
i had no problem with couples with age gap as long as they both look good together and has nice chemistry and the story justifies it but my problem was the inconsistency of how older and younger DY appears... like they used both older and younger DY with the children, father and mother in law scenes but only used younger DY for romantic scenes with JD... they could have started the kiss with the younger version and ended it with the older version indicating that she finally saw DY for who he is... for me the kissing scene and all the romantic scenes after that came off as following the trend of noona romance... the kissing scene b/w older DY and DJ in the last episode wasnt shot as intense as the other one when going by the scene the kiss in the last episode should have been more intimate than the other one...
Ok why no one is curious about the oldman ....who the hell was he?.... Why did he help hong dae young?.... Or…
they didnt explain who or what he was... he helped hing dae young because DY was kind to him and helped him... if you remember there was a scene were da jung helps the old man cross the road and he offered her a repay and she left saying she was in a hurry... its the same like the movie... no clear explanation oh how or who turned him young...

the 2nd FL does try to get back with the ML but it gets resolved with 2-3 scenes... she isnt negative so she dont actively pursue him...
