Now that the show's reached the halfway mark, looks like it has reached a turning point and will focus on the present from now on. Unfortunately I think this is it for Dawon... So everything went wrong once SYG and KHJ decided to take matters into their own hands to catch the killer. Which wasn't the best idea.
In the ep 9 preview, Guyeong is a different person and looks like he absolutely despises SYG. I wonder if it has to do with Yangsun. "When you're stranded, you panic and do illogical things" was that a jab directed towards SYG, implying she might have made a grave mistake? Both the leads look so miserable in 2020. It hurts, especially when we know they don't deserve this.
I must say I'm very curious to see what happens from now on. With so much tension and hidden emotions between the characters, seems like it will go full out Kim Eun Hee style now. The episodes were enjoyable so far but it's true that the actors (especially the supporting ones) haven't flexed much of their acting skills yet. Looking forward to the acting.
Episode 7 must have taken a big bulk of the budget. Damn. The fire scenes were epic with the helicopters putting out the fire, and I'm glad they're educating people on the dangers of wildfires. Totally gonna go rewatch those scenes. I can foresee some people complaining though since this sort of-documentary style isn't everyone's cup of tea.
Okay I thought this was a winter romance drama for the entire episode 6 lmao. But the highlight is how they turned the female lead from a character into a human. I loved Yigang's love-hate relationship with the mountains, her relationship with her grandmother and the chief, and why she became a ranger. Which makes what eventually happened to her all the more tragic. The rest however was kinda romance overload for me. Glad we'll be having wildfires in the next ep lol.
I really wanted to like Jirisan. I found the initial episodes really interesting. However, I feel show is heading…
I still enjoy it but your criticism is valid. I feel the best part of the show is the history of the mountain and how it affected people's lives, what the mountain means to them and their emotions related to it. I was truly touched by episode 2 but they're gravitating away from that theme. The focus of this show keeps changing, and the genres keep switching. It does feel like the murder mystery is just inserted to attract more viewers. I'm rather surprised because Kim Eun Hee's scripts always had a clear theme that her shows revolve around, but for Jirisan so far it feels like a mish-mash of several things. It might be the directing that's contributing to this. But I still see the unexplored potential so I'm continuing.
I don't think the 2018 timeline will be ending so soon. It's still late 2018 in the past timeline but from ep1,…
Oh that's true, this is confusing because HJ's date of hospitalization is in December 2019. If the 2018 timeline really ends this soon I wonder how the rest of the show will play out. It's gonna be hella depressing to watch a crippled FL and a half-dead ML the entire time.
I don't think the 2018 timeline will be ending so soon. It's still late 2018 in the past timeline but from ep1,…
I'm not totally sure though, the words at the hospital stated HJ was hospitalised in dec2019 but he might have transferred hospitals? Not too sure about the timeline lol, because it makes sense that they got into the accident after HJ became the killer's target.
I think the yogurt in the fridge hasn't been poisoned yet. The suspect could also be Jung Goo Young or Park Il…
Yeah, pretty much everyone is a suspect, even the researcher lady. Jung Goo Young would be a psycho if he was actually the culprit, that will mean he pretended to have a crush on Yangsun while also attempting to kill her. It would be interesting though. And tbh while I suspect him I always associate Jun Sukho with his character in kingdom lol.
Today's episode was pretty straightforward but the ending scene was crucial as usual. And now our new biggest suspect is the police officer. He's either really incompetent (hi, there were a dozen yakult bottles right smack in the killer's fridge) or he's the mastermind. Right after SYK told him it was KHJ who caught the killer, KHJ became the next target. Nah can't be a coincidence. Though it was always hinted that he was incompetent.
Personally I really like the 2018 timeline since the outdoor scenes are really my thing and I want to see more of the rangers' chemistry. We can see the entire dynamic has changed in 2020 when Yigang said the only person she can trust is the rookie (can she really be trusted though?), not even her colleagues whom she used to be close with.
I don't think the 2018 timeline will be ending so soon. It's still late 2018 in the past timeline but from ep1, SYG and KHJ had the accident in December 2019, which is next winter. So there is still a whole year of untold events before the accident. Which makes sense because there is almost no action with the leads in their current state.
I think time/environment has caused his "RANGER" coat to decay. Thats why "R" is missing from the coat and it…
Iirc, they purposely positioned the captions to cover the 'R', and articles also specifically pointed out the word 'ANGER' . Though it might just be a coincidence.
I think Hyunjo's ghost/spirit self will be a complex character. Anyone saw one of the teaser posters with the word 'ANGER' on his coat? That might be due to his grudge from being attacked which led to his coma. My guess is, he's gonna be dangerous and intimidating when he's wandering lost in the mountains, but will calm down and become closer to his true nature whenever Dawon helps him find his way to Yigang. Something along those lines. Excited to see how this goes, this is a pretty fresh element for korean dramas.
Isnt Sung Dong Il's char a villain because of the gloves?
For me it looks like he already knows there's a killer and doesn't want Yigang to be involved, since she's crippled and vulnerable. I think it's definitely not him because well, it's Kim Eunhee and she's most likely trying to mislead the viewers lol.
I was speechless when I saw negative comments that the drama has failed or didn't live up to its expectations. It's like judging a movie based on its first 20 minutes. I get the criticisms on the CG/OST or other flaws but it's a mystery drama that has barely finished setting up its premise! Did anyone know what Parasite was truly about from the first 30 minutes alone?? Also I read that the main mystery starts to unfold in today's episode, looking forward to that.
Episode 2 was so good, in a different way from the first- Better, even. Kinda has the Signal vibes, with a heartfelt…
Those eyes of that ghost figure... That's definitely Ju Jihoon. His eyes are so recognizable. The young girl ranger seems pretty fearless, wonder if she'll help connect Yi-kang to Hyun-jo's soul/spirit/whatever that is? I hope Yi-kang won't stay crippled forever though.
Episode 2 was so good, in a different way from the first- Better, even. Kinda has the Signal vibes, with a heartfelt story. The plot is thickening. And thank god there's no more awful CGI lmao! Seems like that green screen was only used in the first episode, after all they did film this on the actual mountain.
