I don't think this is getting as much hype as the first 2 seasons since the main story arc is resolved, but I…
Also I'm not sure who Jun Jihyun's character is after, but it looks more like she will become a villain or some sort of half-villain. This is probably setting up for a major conflict between her and the prince gang in season 3. Seems like her village was either infected or attacked/killed so she's taking revenge and raising a zombie army? Something tells me she's gonna get involved with some other character(s) from season 1/2, maybe even appear at the kingdom. Who knows, we might get some cameos from our original cast but they're keeping it secretive.
I don't think this is getting as much hype as the first 2 seasons since the main story arc is resolved, but I have a good feeling about this. Seeing the teaser, the vibes are very different and storytelling/character development seems to be the main focus. Which is what was lacking in season 2 imo.
Well... this is probably the first time JJH has faced such a major rumor in her career. And it had to be right before her comeback ughh. Anyway she's not obligated to reveal her private affairs to the public and I hope this damn YT channel gets taken down already. It's not the first time they're getting sued for spreading false information.
This drama was listed under one of drama that get Knetz's concern after the recent cultural fight on media social…
If I'm not wrong, this drama isn't co-produced by iQIYI, they just bought the overseas broadcasting rights. At least from wiki, they aren't under the production companies list.
This drama is solid but I won't say it's perfect, or a masterpiece. I did not like some parts of the writing, especially the revelations. It boggles me how it took the characters that long to realise it was the killer caught on the CCTV footage. It also turned me off that the killer was revealed so suddenly and his downfall was due to one mistake. But I'll give it to them, I was not expecting it to be him (I thought it would be Si-mok's lawyer classmate). I also generally enjoyed the slower pacing of the drama with most dialogue serving a purpose to the plot.
The lead actors were good and Bae Doona is so charming in a way that you would want to be friends with her.
The execution of this series was great, ep3 was a huge shock and left me speechless. I loved the perspectives of why some ppl were desperate to live and return to the real world while some were having the time of their life because they basically could press restart from their previous shitty lives.
However I was expecting more from the games, imo the first 3 games were good but the bus game was frustrating (how no one attempted to intelligently solve it), and I'm not sure if the light bulb game was original, but I actually heard it before and it kind of turned me off. Still I guess I can't complain if the show is staying true to the source material. And the last arc basically confirmed that the number doesn't really represent difficulty but how high the chance that the players will fuck up is.
I had a bad feeling that I would dislike the ending but I surprising liked it. Looking forward to season 2.
The director gave hints about the plot: "Ju Jihoon and Jun Jihyun are park rangers, they save people but sometimes they can't. The stories of the past and present intersect. In a way, it has a similar composition to 'Signal'... I don't think I should talk anymore. (laughs)" Source: https://n.news.naver.com/entertain/article/140/0000043535
Interesting, so what's written in the synopsis is just the backstory. Now this got me curious about how it’s possible for different timelines to intersect, supposedly without a fantasy element.
THEORY: Ju Jihoon can see flashbacks of how people were killed on the mountain because he somehow encountered them before they died but has amnesia, and he regains these memories gradually. He becomes a ranger to search the mountain for answers. This becomes the central plot as the JJHs find clues throughout different episodes of rescuing people and ultimately solve the mystery. (This gives a similar structure to Signal)
I felt the same!!! A bit sad that they turned the webtoon DID guy into a negative character and used him to bring…
Same! I'm not sure if I like how they are making the DID guy a complete psycho antagonist probably for season 2. He was a very interesting character in the webtoon.
I haven't read the webtoon and I enjoyed this show immensely, it reminded me of Tokyo Ghoul, which I adore to…
I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't read the webtoon beforehand. I'm not sure if the whole webtoon is still available now though, it might have been deleted so people wouldn't see the spoilers.
Sorry but I couldn't ignore it when some changes to the plot of the webtoon really brought down my enjoyment of the show. - Main character, Hyun Su doesn't have much of a personality or character growth. Female firefighter seemed to be more of the focus of the show. - Characters didn't show much teamwork. In source material, the main MCs worked together. - Monsterization process, one of the most interesting parts, was not elaborated. - They didn't highlight enough that the monster form they become is linked to their desires. - The fact that monsters will become stronger as you fight them isn't shown enough, so they didn't seem intimidating. Also, the monsters became less scary over time. - Actually the situation didn't even seem desperate and monsters didn't even appear in every episode. There isn't much internal conflict, which is too unrealistic if you put a bunch of strangers together. - The place was too much of a safe haven for actual suspense. Towards the end, it even seemed as if the whole building was vacant of monsters. So the rest of the residents in the whole building just disappeared or...? Why even trap yourselves on the first floor then? - Most likeable characters were thrown aside or killed off. - I would say the first 2 or so episodes were better than the rest. - Am I supposed to root for the gangster guy because I can't force myself to like him. - They totally missed out on the coolest human to monster transformations. - last episode was all over the place and the direction they seem to be going for season 2 doesn't interest me. - In general they took out important details and introduced subplots with not much purpose.
Sorry for the long ass rant lmao. It's still a decent watch, but they took an A++ material, skimmed through the parts that set it apart from the rest, and turned it into a more generic monster show. It's a shame because I kind of had higher expectations. The casting and acting is spot on though. Edit: One change I did like was Eun-hyuk's sister's personality. It made the ending become more emotional.
Edit: moved section w/ possible spoilers.
Just sharing this here, this guy is a stuntman on the kingdom set and gives more info and updates on the show.
