Bye Xiao Jinyu! Bye everyone~

Thank you, Xiao Jinyu, for being Wang Ziqi’s first breakout role—the role that truly introduced him to this industry.
Whatever happened in Season 2, let it be. Just rewatch Season 1 if you’re not satisfied with this season. 🤣

Some Predictions and Thoughts Before the Express Package drop~
What did surprise me more was the relationship between Yu Lan and You Chen’an. It doesn’t seem like they’re mother and son after all. So could Yu Lan be the one who drew the map? Or is she merely a chess piece that You Chen’an planted in Jiaozhou?

Chu Ping’s timing of appearance was also unexpected. I didn’t anticipate that it was You Chen’an trying to use Chu Ping to capture Chu Chu. If he truly believes that controlling Chu Chu would allow him to control Xiao Jinyu and the Tang dynasty, that’s incredibly naĆÆve. The Chu–Xiao couple are the kind of people who would rather sacrifice themselves than allow the Tang to fall.

There’s still one character who hasn’t appeared yet—that is little Chu Chu. Please don’t let there be another ā€œflashback montage.ā€ And if there really must be one, please don’t give it to Chu Ping. You can transfer that montage to You Chen’an instead—let him see little Chu Chu in his memories.

When Leng Yue said ā€œsomething has happened,ā€ it instantly reminded me of season one, of the dialogue when Xu RuguÄ« (Xu Zongfang) kidnapped Chu Chu.

There’s one point about the carrier pigeon messages that I do want to address. The three pagodas in the Nanzhao map clearly point to the Dali area. Chang’an in the Tang dynasty corresponds to present-day Xi’an. I looked up the distance, and it seems reasonable that a carrier pigeon could deliver a message within one to two days. Fast would be around 24 hours; slower would be over 30 hours—of course, that assumes uninterrupted flight. So estimating about two days for a one-way trip is fairly reasonable.

What feels less reasonable is the travel time of You Chen’an and Chu He to Nanzhao—especially Chu He’s timeline, which feels particularly strange and inconsistent.

I love seeing the details when Wang Ye licking his finger to flip the pages~ And how he tiptoed to search for the book! To show the urgency & he is in real panic! These actions coming from a dignified, noble prince who would never done these actions like that on a normal day!

Regarding IC2, Director Lou Jian recently said:

Yu Li: What other works and creative plans do you have to broadcast in the future?

Lou Jian: After editing "The Imperial Coroner 2", I re-edited it.

I have added some interesting shots, such as the inner thoughts of the actors when they listen to each other. The audio-visual language of the second part is better than the first part, and the actors are more mature and no longer have baby fat. But there will not be a third part of this drama. The internal and external troubles have been filmed, and I can't shoot it anymore.

Yu Li: Can you accept the audience watching your drama at double or triple speed?

Lou Jian: I'm not worried. The composition, points, and wedges of a play all have mathematical formulas. What happens after a certain number of seconds is calculated. I often check after I finish editing the film.

Yu Li: What do you think about the fact that many directors now do not have the power to decide the male and female lead?

Lou Jian: This is an industry phenomenon. But now the platforms are quite polite. Some actors didn’t audition before, but now they all audition. In this way, if the actor is not suitable, the platform will not take responsibility. Actors are only half of the creation. If they have acting skills, the audience will see it, but if they don’t, they won’t see it.

Yu Li: What do you think about starting filming before the script is polished due to issues such as actors' schedules and IP copyrights?

Lou Jian: It’s normal. It was like this in the past. There’s nothing we can do about it. The reason why a drama can be filmed is because we have money. Without money, no matter how good the script is, it can’t be filmed. I never get involved in production, and I won’t consider being a producer. At most, I will be a supervisor, the kind of supervisor who actually goes to the set.

I love the whole 'dude becomes enraged and ruthless when his girl gets hurt' trope and Wang Ziqi acted it out…
Yup!! That torture!

And he smashed something in front of Jingyi when he found out pill inside Xu Rugui’s stomach meant to poison Chuchu!!!
