Maybe don't bring your "woke" 2023 sensibilities to Korean history, and you'll probably go through life a bit…
Woke as an insult is meaningless now. No one wants to see a 12 year old paired with a 24 year old you weirdo lol This isn't a biographical-historical romance like the red sleeve.
So...I know there is more to life than looks, but sung hoon is so attractive in this show lol jung yoo min is cute too. I love her eyes. She reminds me of twice's chaeyoung. I really hope to see the both of them more often.
Also, their little group of friends are so wholesome. I especially love the sister-in-law.
That's like 25lbs underweight for someone her height which is insane. 30+ if you adhere to the suggested range of 114-138. I hope they are just making shit up to get people talking.
Ki-ho googling "sentence for patricide" really shows the desperation of abuse victims to escape their abusers.
I've also seen a lot of people wonder why the father was still so obsessed 15 years later. Abusers like him can literally not accept their victims escaping and having control of their own lives. The abuser has to be in control and if they aren't it drives them even more crazy. They never let it go and it usually ends with the victim being murdered unfortunately.
This is not creepy at all. It’s quite ok to be honest, the age difference is only 9 years. But of late, male…
Idk of the 13, 2023 dramas I've watched, the age gap was +5 or less years in 11/13 of them. Three were +5 years and it was the female lead who was older (destined with you, dr. romantic 3 and a time called you). The largest age gaps were heartbeat (ml was +11 years) and the glory part 2 (the fl was +13 years).
wait wasn't this at 8.8, now 8.0, what happened???
My main issue is that there is just too much story to fit into 16 episodes. With the addition of two other strong women, the character development of other mains suffered.
That being said, it's definitely not as bad as people are making it out to be. Fans of Strong Woman Do Bong Soon are extremely attached to the og couple and are super critical of Strong Girl Namsoon...which I don't understand because swdbs was super cringy and juvenile at times 🥴
Also, a very superficial reason is that the villain is very attractive (and is pretty well developed character-wise in comparison to the other ML) and it's pissing people off that he's getting shipped with Namsoon and has a ton of fans/sympathizers. Someone down thread called Shi Oh the Korean Kylo Ren and they aren't wrong 👀
The first episode was one of the best introductions to a drama I've ever seen.
All the beautiful relationships in this show and people decided to tank the ratings because they prefer one guy over another. This show was my lesson to literally never watch a show solely based on its score lol It's also always a good idea to read the comments...
I also thought it was way too random that they were both in Japan in the same city at the same time lol I feel like he was smiling at the cakes cause he wanted to share one with Doona later on.
The time skip kind of reminded me of "She Would Never Know." Like the characters had to go out and grow and live their lives before meeting up again. The creep manager put so much emphasis on Won Joon having to graduate, serve in the military, get a job etc. Also, them bringing up how fans are crazy about idols openly dating.
Kang Tae Oh's characters is such a weirdo I love it lol Come to think about it, both male leads are a bit strange. We need more of this dynamic in dramas. Also, SSK is so pretty.
People need to stop looking at being gentle and kind as a weakness. Not every great female character needs to be a badass with an attitude. S1 Naksu and S2 Bu Yeon were completely different characters. It's like comparing Rapunzel to Mulan and saying Rapunzel is a shitty heroine just cause one is a warrior.
I still can't get over the scene where Shin Yu asks for Hong Jo's dad's approval to propose. HJ's dad was there for the moment SY fell in love and when he proposed. Two big moments in his daughters life 🥺 I think the song makes it even more emotional.
Unfortunately, this show just gave up on the magic halfway through but Shinyu miraculously recovered from his…
It's definitely explained lol The curse is broken when Shin Yu's heart stops at the hospital after he is stabbed. Eun Wol tells Hong Jo about this loophole in an earlier episode. That's why HJ is so determined to stay away from SY. If she's near him, he gets physically ill, but the only way to help him is for his heart to stop which isn't an option.
Other than that, he gets better after HJ performs the good health spell, because we don't see the hand for a while. Then the Gardner and Nayeon perform another black magic curse with the stolen clothes and the hand/SY's symptoms come back.
I don't think it's the concept. It's the writing. Everyone loved the actors and usually, plots like this get high…
See I didn't see that. When we are first introduced to Hong Jo she is going alone to investigate the shrine in the rain when like days before someone died there alone in the rain lol Or when she walks alone, in the dark, past the drunk man instead of just going down the hill to ask Shin Yu to walk with her. And this is in the first 1-3 episodes I think.
I understand people are frustrated with her lack of self-preservation, but that's definitely something that was consistent with her character from the get-go.
It stems from her past as a loner at school and at work where she takes on task after task after task because no one is there to help her. It's her normal.
For the life of me I can't figure out what people wanted from this show lol It's like watching Wednesday and expecting…
Also, I totally understand why people think some of romance is super cringe, but after watching all the behind the scenes I really think Rowoon is actually really cheesey in real life lmao
For the life of me I can't figure out what people wanted from this show lol It's like watching Wednesday and expecting a Sucession level plot. This is billed as a fantasy rom com where it's inferred from like the 2nd episode that HongJo and ShinYu were destined to be with each other. That's what the show is working towards...that was the point of the show 🫠 Everything else was a plot device to drive them together.
I feel like I am taking crazy pills 👹
Anyways I'm halfway through episode 14 and the past life scenes are truly magical. I almost wish we got a short prequel series with Rowoon and BoAh as MuJin and Aeng Cho, even though we all know how their relationship ends. Their child actors were great too.
I feel like they didn't take the domestic violence in this series seriously enough. It goes way beyond your usual kdrama stalking where someone is watching in the shadows. It was like Glory levels of abuse, but wrapped up in a rom-com package.
The worst part for me is after we see the fl brutalized in pictures and a video they have a scene where the ml accidentally hits her in the face hard enough to leave a mark. It's a cheap plot device that's been used countless times, but because of the fl's history, it's just offensive. How am I supposed to root for a dv survivor to end up with a man who is extremely violent and has anger issues.
They spent the entire series stressing how he's violent but never hurts a woman!!! and then in the last episode he hits her in the face and throws her on the ground??? His mandated therapy obv didn't help one bit so what what the point lol
Even the way the fl's ex is arrested in the end is shown as a joke.
Also, their little group of friends are so wholesome. I especially love the sister-in-law.

2022 trend was similar.

I'll watch it on mute for Wi Ha Joon.
