Flawed Script and Character Development, Many Plot Holes
The overall plot seems engaging enough, but I feel the scriptwriter has done a subpar job with characters and parts of the plot.
For instance, the FL was raised under humble circumstances with no sign of a higher education (or any education!), she somehow transforms into a confident, articulate leader the moment she arrives in the capital. This miraculous evolution lacks any solid foundation in the storyline, making her overnight capabilities in strategy and leadership so totally unconvincing.
Both the FL and ML have just ONE facial expression each throughout (especially the ML). Both characters come across as flat and uninspiring, more so given the weak script. Plus it seems there’s zero chemistry between the FL and ML! They are meant to be in love, but there’s no real evidence of it.
On a positive note, Wen Zheng Rong shines in her role as Ruan Xiwen. Wow! Unfortunately, the depth she brings contrasts so starkly with the rest of the cast, to the point I feel she stands out as if she’s in the wrong movie set.
Overall, The Glory (2025) failed to fully engage for me. It lacks the compelling storytelling and character development seen in top-tier dramas like "Flourished Peony”, “Blossom" or "The Double." I’d like to see how the story ends but I think this series is somewhat of a miss for me.
