I don't know of many groups that take requests, and a lot of websites focus on new dramas to increase traffic and ad-revenue. You might find a hobbyist willing to do it, but if you're looking at Viki or even some of the more illicit streaming sites, you're not likely to find anyone willing to pick it up.

Listen...this might be the series to bring me back to watching KDramas...

Me, too! I honestly think that that's a logical next step for the franchise after Make Our Days Count. I fear that they won't do it, though, due to the relatively young audience.

Writing for MDL is fun, and I love how it gives me the opportunity to sharpen my analytical skills in a less formal setting than, say, school. I've certainly become a better writer by practicing here.

Well, that's good to hear. I'm not used to watching wuxia, so the combat still kind of looks silly to me, but I really like the characterization and costuming. Reading the novel has already cleared up a lot, so I'm excited to watch more of the show.

This is one of very few drama series that I genuinely want a second season of. I adore this show and I would love to see these actors all together again.

I'm glad you enjoyed Trapped! I actually haven't seen Long Time No See, yet, though I plan on watching it once some other things are out of the way. I've heard good things about it, so I am excited for when I do finally approach it. My expectations are high!

I actually started reading the novel because the first episode of the show left me sort of confused. Either I'm dumb or the plot holes are treacherous. I find it unfortunate that they sanitized the main characters' relationship, but I will still watch the series and supplement it with the novel.

For sure, but I didn't feel right giving all my praises to seasons 2 and 3 without addressing how poisonous season 1 is. This definitely isn't queer cinema, that's for sure.

That's exactly the problem, though: any depiction of a gay character is representative of some facet of how people perceive gay folks, realistic or otherwise. Therefore, all of it, even the unrealistic stuff, is representation, since it will stick in someone's mind as a representation of this group.

BL and yaoi are 100% aimed at straight women. Very little mainstream Asian media featuring gay relationships is meant to be consumed by gay men. It's simply the nature of the genre. Regardless, mainstream depictions of minority groups add to how people perceive those groups, no matter the intended audience or purpose of the media. Even the "seme" and "uke" archetypes are harmful in and of themselves. When it comes to public perception of the LGBT+ community, intentionality doesn't mean much. What counts is the actual impact of the media.

Folks who consume this particular sect of media don't always conduct themselves very well when it comes to actual LGBT+ people, so the impact of the even the "unrealistic" stuff needs to be addressed.

I'm going to be honest: if you press forward in the HIStory franchise to get to Boundary Crossing, Right or Wrong, and Trapped, all three are delightful and have really healthy relationships. It's amazing to me how the writer did a complete about-face after season 1. I enjoyed SOTUS for the most part, but there are some pretty obvious flaws.

Okay... I really don't like Addicted. I tried to watch it, but it is just... poisonous.

I definitely agree with that take on My Hero; the only reason I was really okay with it was because, in the end, it really is two men together, and the woman's spirit is left to deal with the fact that her ex really is into a man. Thanks for the comment!
