I'm not the biggest fan of romcoms so I'm shocked at how much I love this!!!! My only complaint is that I don't think I'll ever find a romance that'll top this! I love the ML and the FL and honestly every single character otherwise. Everything about this makes it the best casual entertainment watch for those who aren't fond of typical fanfiction-type romance dramas but romance that is sincere and fun and also much more than a love story- it's also full of life stories, thanks to realistic yet commendable characters you can't help but adore and admire. Think Pride and Prejudice- yes it's a romance, but we can gather so much more from it, only adding more value to something already cherishable. It's rare for me to gush over a ML, the one here really has to be one of my favourites, a true gentleman you won't see much of anywhere else
i haven't even finished this yet and i don't like romance so i don't tend to watch rom-coms, but WOW. this is genuinely my favourite rom-com: the production quality (as expected from a high budget cdrama), the music/soundtrack, the romance is not only bearable but entertaining! and it's also hilarious, great side characters as well as there being plenty of eye candy lol tbf tho, this is the first drama i've watched after a long hiatus where i didn't let myself watch anything bcos i was focused on studying, and i'm finally watching something even tho my exams aren't over yet bcos i've burntout. also, i went in with little expectations. so i may be biased! if you're looking for something light-hearted to recover from daily life this is the one!!
the is the reason behind allhttps://youtu.be/WaqFU5AYlxA?t=20
oh wow, thanks for sharing that! I did notice how the ml was less and less the ml in the second half, which I hated as I wanted more cute scenes with him and the fl. His character was done dirty, no wonder so many preferred the 2nd lead, they didn't try to redeem the ml enough for everyone. such a shame
Can someone please recommend some dramas like this, please?
Try 'The Bad Kids' it's a cdrama not a kdrama but they both have unreliable narrators, psychopathic characters, death and murder, unexpected endings that completely flip everything on its head, and plenty of subtle creative choices made through camera work, editing, the writing, etc that add detail and make you think deeply.
it's been SO long since I've watched this but Lee Dong Wook's acting was so good and left such a big impression…
I keep thinking his character in Touch my Heart is secretly as psychopathic as his character in this drama, as if Touch my Heart and Strangers from Hell are in the same 'universe' and he's living this double life, fooling this beautiful actress into falling in love with him to lure her into the goshiwon! I'm also incredibly amazed/terrified by the difference in how he smiles in this vs in Touch my Heart. His acting is honestly really good to be able to pull of such juxtaposing characters! Although unfortunately I really cannot see him the same after this show LOL
it's been SO long since I've watched this but Lee Dong Wook's acting was so good and left such a big impression on me that I literally cannot separate the actor from his role in this show. I was watching a clip from Touch my Heart (maybe one of my favourite romantic comedies although it's been a while, and I don't tend to like that genre) and I cannot enjoy his heartwarming character the same!!!!
This is the type of show that is what you make it- full of life lessons that we can learn and reflect from, or a typical slice of life college drama. I personally cherish it a lot; I feel like compared to the journey of these four girls, I am yet to embark on mine. This drama is perfect for daydreaming about the future :')
Definitely worth watching but it can be darker just like extracurricular and class of lies. Most probably the…
After reading all of the comments under here that analyse the show I would say it is even darker then extracurricular, though it has been a while since I finished that show, and I never read any analysis of it unlike with this. Will check out class of lies now that you mentioned it though 0.0
This is the first time I've ever read all of the comments of a drama on this site. When I first finished this…
I'm honestly shocked to hear that in the book, the other two kids, PuPu and Yan Liang, are also disturbing. Another thing I've learnt is I need to stop ignoring that voice in my head that goes '???' really quietly (like at the part where his step-sis 'falls' to her death) as me reading too much (the way it was shown from the very start was ambiguous, we didn't see her fall on her own just that she lost her footing, and then the thud of her body). I also thought ChaoYang was those weird 'quiet kid with no friends' type rather than the innocent 'quiet kid with no friends' type from the first episode where we are introduced to him, but dismissed it as me being a hater, and instead I let him manipulate me into thinking he was an innocent kid made bad by his environment! The show really played me hard lol and I love it for that. It's a valuable lesson that could save my life one day, to not ignore that 6th sense that something isn't quite as it seems...
This is the first time I've ever read all of the comments of a drama on this site. When I first finished this show, I gave it 8.5 stars. Then I read some of the comments. Okay, 9 stars. The more comments I read, the more compelled I am to give this show 10 stars. And I don't think I've given 10 stars to a drama ever before.
This is one of those shows that you watch, subconsciously noticing some signs here and there, but never really analysing them (in my case, dismissing it as 'it's not that serious just enjoy the show') until the ending or when reading reviews. I was shown the puzzle pieces through the plot of the show. But only when told there was a puzzle for us too to solve, did I truly see the pieces and put them together. It was really dark. And like a comment far below details, the book seems much, much darker. This is as close to a masterpiece you can get. The cinematography, acting, production quality etc only add to the amazing adapted script and storytelling.
Agreed!!! A lot of inconsistencies like why did he oppose to them dating if they aren't siblings, to such an extent as to stabbing him like you mention? And I thought I was crazy for not feeling any chemistry either... About Seung Ah, as well as other things, apparently this is one of those shows where you mustn't think so as to not ruin the romance. Both the lead characters' behaviours morally speaking were highly questionable but dismissed in the name of love and suffering? I love a good antihero, imperfectly perfect character and romance like in Vincenzo, but this show lacked what Vincenzo had for me, though I can't put my finger on what exactly that is.
Maybe it would've been better if it wasn't a romance. Or does that defeat its purpose? There aren't direct parallels, but this show reminds me of Romeo and Juliet. Perhaps that's a good measure of whether you'll enjoy it or not- how much you love or loath the classic Shakespearian tragedy. This is the type of romance kdrama that completely puts me off romantic love. I personally think the ranking is too high, although a typical romance kdrama fan might find it accurate.

Reading comments below though I think I need to give the main characters time to shine. I'm intrigued to know if/how my opinion on them may change as the story progresses
6 episodes in- not feeling the romance at all and I don't particularly like either of the leads. tbf I don't enjoy 'childhood x' and fate-related plot lines which it seems to be so far. This seems like the type of romance kdrama you have to leave your brain behind to enjoy, cause why else would the FL keep getting involved with a guy who treats her supposed friend so badly?? I also hate these 'bad boy who meets a good girl who thinks she can fix him' stories... As for the good, I like the mystery element and am interested to see how all the small reveals and characters fit together.
I don't find the FL annoying at all. An annoying FL is like the one from She Was Pretty or What's Wrong with Secretary Kim IMO. I actually quite like the FL here
what!!!!! this did not go in the direction I was expecting at all. I have no idea how to feel about the ending.…
-breaking up with your gf then after 3 years of no contact then just showing up in her life (virtually, but still). She's spent 3 years moving on and healing, why pick up something that's in the past now? To me, their relationship and romance broke like a vase and it cannot be glued back into its original form. So why bother? Just throw away the broken pieces
