I see many people are comparing this one with Mine. But I think Mine is better than this because the female leads…
Agreed, I hate the 'evil mistress' trope, it rubs me the wrong way- the evil one is the man who two-timed women that love him! I get that the two women would be emotional about it but it always portrays them as almost stupid. That's why Mine is superior, it breaks this overdone stereotype in such a gratifying way! I'm still holding onto hope that this drama will somewhat go in the same direction as Mine but I don't see it happening anytime soon...
I understand that ppl are thinking that the FL is dumb but I think I like it so far and will keep on to see how…
I feel like people don't get that she's a lawyer, yes, but she's also a recently widowed single mother of one who has no idea why her perfectly fine husband suddenly and allegedly committed suicide/disappeared leading her to question her entire 10(+?) years with him. She hardly had time to mourn, seeing how she responded to Chef Jung on the anniversary of her husband's death- she said something along the lines of 'has it been a year already?' She's not really in the position to act reckless and badass since she has a son to look after who she wants to pay full attention to, especially now he doesn't have a father. In the first few episodes she mentioned how she hasn't been able to focus on her son due to working all the time, which explains why she is so focused on him- and on being a mother- rather than on being a lawyer. Although, with Cho Yeo Jung as the actress, I'm definitely expecting character development!
it just the plot is permitting the sequel being exist, i mean they show the game has been going for dozen years…
that's true, there is so much still unanswered, a second season would be good to complete it all, and I'd love to see ki hoon do something with his knowledge of the game other than be a kpop idol wannabe with his red hair LMAO
It was great in the first half but the last half was disappointing. I feel like instead of wrapping the storyline up, they decided on a cliffhanger, probably a business move decided by netflix.
Whenever I see someone disregard the struggles of pregnant women and/or women who recently went through labour, I think back to this drama. At least there are some good few people out there who appreciate the women who literally bring humanity to life... It still is a massive injustice though, that so few people even know just how cruel and difficult pregnancy and labour are on the human female body, and many are willfully ignorant about it- people brought into this world by that very woman who sacrificed comfort as well as other things to bring them here! I'm really grateful for this show and everything it taught me. Hell, women hold up 90% of the sky!!
I hate that I actually watched 10 hours of the typical cliche 'I love him more than I love myself and that is beautiful' bs... I do still want to point out that the ML was toxic to other girls, FL in particular. The worst thing he had to go through was his commitment issues... poor him... :/ Nabi on the other hand, was toxic... towards herself. I hate FL's with low self-esteem, the torture of having to watch her made bad choices bcos she has no boundaries... But this is common among girls, and I was there once too... She was so frustrating and unlikeable, but I can't hate her. ML can rot tho. What I hate the most about this show is that it teaches girls to put a man or love above themselves and that shitty men CAN change for you, then disguises this childish message as deep, beautiful, thrilling. Ye Olde traditional idea but repackaged into postmodern thought, that a girl/woman in love will always make sacrifices even if that means she must sacrifice herself for him! Oh and remember, he will change... one day... don't ask when... wait really well and you might be rewarded... if not then you can change him... like an 18-month baby's wet diaper... Anyway, at least Han So Hee also agrees that Na Bi was foolish, to put it lightly. Good for her
I loved Han Ji Eun in Be Melodramatic, her portrayal of a single mother was so well done. Contrasted with her character from Lovestruck in the City, she seems to be a really multi-faceted and interesting actress. Will definitely be checking this out!
100% here for this if it happens. SYJ is extremely talented and her personal life was blown out of proportion.…
Yup!!! Plus how many times has the media/society in general tried to smear the reputation of specifically women who are successful? How do complete outsiders like you and me know if this is one of those cases or not? The media works hard to make us feel like we do, but we don't know nearly enough about her to judge her. In the same way, this is why I no longer 'stan' any celebrity and just enjoy their work from a safe distance instead. Yes, I can't know that xyz is as horrible as these news articles tell me they are, but unfortunately, I also don't know they are as amazing as they portray themselves to be in public. It's cringy, but I like to think that I'm my own celebrity to 'stan', because the one person in the world who I can get to truly know the most is myself.
So excited!! This sounds really good, as expected of her. I'm planning to rewatch IOTNBO and depending on that I might check out Lawless Lawyer and Save Me mainly bcos of her. In terms of her professional life, she really intrigues me. I don't think I qualify to judge her based on her personal life that I know nothing of...
I’m on episode six and it’s really difficult to relate to it since most of the issues in the story are non-issues…
There are still universal elements to the show, such as the ludicrous ways in which women are judged (age, marriage life, etc) imo. I live in the west and these things still affect women to this day, although I would say most people are unaware or discarding of it.
It took me 3 or 4 tries, but I finally saw out this drama, and I'm so glad I did! Do you want to watch a slice of life that portrays all the beauties of living- the good, the bad, and everything in-between, in a way that is realistic and humane, despite knowing everything will all work out (bcos that's just the type of show it is)? When things are not working out in life, 18 Again is the perfect feel-good drama to give you the strength to get through it. It was also SO FUNNY. This one scene, in particular, had me burst out laughing in the middle of the night, to the extent of having to cover my mouth. (Two words- Hospital, Incest.) So much respect for everyone involved in the production of this.
time to get an eye test to see if you are colour blind... there are plenty red flags
the way I see his behavior this far and from the very start, some of it is too similar to that of narcissistic relationships, although i don't think he is a narcissist, maybe more of a 'broken' person
That is probably the only valid comment i've seen in favour of Na Bi and Jae Eon... I just wish it would be more…
I hope so! she deserves a redemption arc like Han So Hee's character in the world of the married. you're right, it's very difficult even if you're aware that your actions are self-destructive :') that's why I still sympathise with Na Bi (i am only on episode 6 tho, this might change/lessen) despite finding her frustrating multiple times. Na Bi could've easily been me
That is probably the only valid comment i've seen in favour of Na Bi and Jae Eon... I just wish it would be more…
Yes, I agree we should pursue it the best way we can, for me that has been through learning what healthy love actually looks and feels like so I really hoped this drama would play out as what to avoid when it comes to love instead of simply showing toxic relationships. Han So Hee in an interview said if she could say one thing to Na Bi it would be 'come to your senses please' so I'm still confused with the direction of this show so far
I watched this bcos I enjoyed Han So Hee's character in The World of The Married- I found her so naive and frustrating but when her character came round and had her redemption arc it was so satisfying and I felt so proud... I love the message of that kdrama, it was to me a very important message as I struggled with what healthy love/relationship/marriage should look like, and I love strong female leads who are not submissive, or strong yet still appeal to male characters/viewers, but strong in the way that they are a source of inspiration for girls and woman watching!! I was clinging onto some hope that the same would happen here in this show too, where Na Bi finally takes control of her life and tries to navigate loving herself etc but I keep getting disappointed... We need more kdramas that teach what healthy relationships look like!
Lets not be so critical about a show that shows life selections in a different matter. I am going to speak for…
That is probably the only valid comment i've seen in favour of Na Bi and Jae Eon... I just wish it would be more explicit in the message of 'this is a toxic relationship and if this is appealing to you, you need to re-evaluate your view on love'. Younger me would have been exactly like Na Bi unfortunately, and the only way I unlearnt those harmful views on love was through others talking of their experience, telling me the red flags and the power imbalances etc.
did it turn as bad as start-up did ? I'm not watching yet
what do you mean if you don't mind me asking? do you mean all the fan fighting over which of the two male characters the fl should've ended up with? or similarity between characters in this show and start up?
That's why Mine is superior, it breaks this overdone stereotype in such a gratifying way!
