I actually just finished watching the show. I can agree with basically everything you said and I wasn't feeling…
Thank you for an interesting reply. To be honest, though I do think Kiyoi behaved terribly in the beginning and I felt like there was barely any character development, I didn't dislike him as much as I did Hira. And i would also say that the way Hira never got out of his state of unjustified admiration towards Kiyoi of that very weird sort made his character especially unattractive by the end of the show. And yes, being into his own pity self is pretty much what I felt too.
I think this drama had potential and with the right approach it could have been something interesting. I do enjoy twisted things in shows, it does show human nature from different sides. But I think one should be careful with it and make sure to have the right premise.
“It seems almost forced how many excellent reviews this drama has.“ I’m sorry but maybe a lot of people…
I know shows where a lot of people liked the shows but never attacked those who disliked it and tried to rise the raring as much as fans of this show. Again, this is how it feels to me.
I don't see the reason to be so triggered by a simple opinion. Blimey, You really should try and learn to accept…
Very interesting take. I have no strong feelings about the show though. Can't be bothered to feel much about it. It's a bad show in my opinion, why would I be wasting my feelings on it? Again, fascinating way to arrive to conclusions through assumptions. Ideally, you should rely on facts. But what can you do, ey.
I comment because I have fun watching people lose their shit over my very harmless opinions. I just check what people reply to me and see other comments along the way. Sometimes it's fun to reply. Most of the time I don't bother.

Don't put words in people's mouth, please. I said nothing about supporting or not supporting censorship, lmao. Sometimes people arrive at very interesting conclusions without any ground for it huh! Fascinating creatures, truly.
Also, mind you, I haven't said a single bad word in regards of your thinking, opinion or you as a person. Work on yourself, mate. Use appropriate language in arguments, address an opinion, make a case, don't just say someone's view is idiotic, it only makes you sound as an angry idiot yourself, insecure in your own ideas. Your arguments become weak and don't hold any value whatsoever. And learn to take criticism and accept other opinions, very helpful skills. Cheers.
A certain user from yesterday replied to me “what if someone goes through the similar experience” in context,…
I don't see the reason to be so triggered by a simple opinion. Blimey, You really should try and learn to accept the fact that other opinions and views on the world exist, will make your life much easier and less stressful.
You mentioned in your comment that you are perfectly aware that this is fiction, so I'm finding it hard to understand…
I, personally, find it problematic. I don't like what the shows brings to the table. We all live off tales and stories, it is, for me, essential they bring something of value. I don't think this story is a good one, because what it brings i find fundamentally not okay, which is presenting an inherently unhealthy relationship as something beautiful, which it isn't. Not just saying that it exists, but romanticising it. I have a problem with that.
It's also interesting how you got fixated on the topic of parenting but completely ignored my point of someone going through something similar in their lives, and watching this and thinking that the situation they are in is absolutely fine. Because, again, it absolutely isn't.
And yes, I do think a show must think of the viewers and the targeted audience. So, in some ways, it is the show's fault.
No one in this comment justify their action we all know what they have and their bad sides we all acknowledge…
I have said nothing about them not deserving forgiveness. I really would like people to stop putting words into my mouth. People do change. I have hard time sympathising with characters because I personally think they are not written and shown very well and they are not developing much during the series. here is no dimension to the characters is what I am saying, and it is my personal opinion. I am not reading a novel, for goodness sake. If a series cannot adapt a novel well enough, it is a bad series. Regardless of what volumes they adapt, I dislike both of their characters from the very beginning, if the show fails to make me sympathise with them during the course of the season, it is a bad story telling.
You mentioned in your comment that you are perfectly aware that this is fiction, so I'm finding it hard to understand…
I do see what you mean as well, but this is one of the reasons I find the show problematic and that is it. If you have a different view on that, it is totally fine, and I do agree with you partly. But let's part on that with our own opinions :)
I thank you for patience and a civil response, and have a genuinely good day.
I see your point, however, there a few things I kind of disagree or don’t understand. What are you trying to…
I merely stated my opinion, there is no need to be so defensive. It is not interesting to discuss with someone who likes to attack another person just for their choice of words (you are being very picky, huh!) and not trying to understand the content of their messages.
Again, going personal is a very low form of argument, it is not even worth it.
Have a good day, hope this will be the end of this absolutely pointless conversation I no longer want to be a part of.

What you said is very idealistic and completely misinformed about how people and children function in this world. Not every parent is a good parent, not every parent has that control because of so many reason I don't have time to list here. And as a child of parents who had some restrictions enforced, I would go my way out to get around them just for the fun of it, not even for the restricted content. And overall, parents had no business of what dramas I watch. I don't even live in Japan, how can they restrict that.

Creators are free to explore and I am free to critique that with any kind of wording I choose. Any criticism is a valid criticism, mind you. I am not attacking the show nor degrading it but simply putting my opinion there, not using any offensive words. There is nothing even borderline racist about my comment, I was just using some of the words other people who liked this show used. The show isn't trying to change anything in me. It isn't trying at all, really.

We all consume any form of art and our moral are formed within that context as well. If a young soul with no basic morals set up yet watched this show and sees how wonderful this relationship is, it is problematic. As well as it is problematic in the context of someone finding themselves in such a relationship and instead of seeing the show where it represents their situation well and can help them realise that this is not okay, this show would do quite the opposite. Not all of us have good friends to slap us, like Hira, for one, doesn't.
Well if you in return are not going to get upset for me stating an opinion I want to address this and disagree…
>> I am getting tired of people mentioning Kiyoi as cruel, horrible, unjustified.\
Exploiting someone is cruel, especially when they cannot say anything back. Regardless of wether it is what Hira wanted or not, Kiyoi’s actions were horrible in regards to another human being. All I have to say here.
>> Also I am sorry but you don't get to say what's justified or not, Hira does.
Hira is a fictional character and I think I have a full right to judge here. I am not interfering with a real human’s life as far as I’m aware.
>> He went from not being able to talk to anyone to hitting people.
Well, I agree, some development, but much insignificant too rapid. Huh. Anyways, he didn’t gain any self-respect. He just does what other people expect of him to do.
>> Kiyoi learned to live and let go after getting bullied instead of putting up with those people.
That wasn’t shown at all. Assumed? How? I didn’t get that feeling at all. He didn’t like the guys he was hanging out with but he was never really dependant on them. It was a way of survival and a very easy one, at that. Again, just an impression from the show itself. I have no intention on reading the novel.
>> which is supposed to show the change in their dynamic but somehow people miss that.
Perhaps the show doesn’t show it very well then? All was showed, pretty much, is how Kiyoi is in love with Hira, apparently. More like, it was said rather than showed. Nothing to add t the dynamic, however.
But thank you for taking the time expressing the opinion, I appreciate and hope you’re having a good day, sincerely.
I see your point, however, there a few things I kind of disagree or don’t understand. What are you trying to…
Never I implied they should stick to fluffy characters, you can read my comment once again, you got a very wrong idea. On the contrary, I like complex plots and fluid characters, not so black and white. But to me, this shows fails to show any complexity, it is very one-dimensional.
And I do not like the message of the show, it is inherently problematic. That is all. There is only one season and I judge from what I see, not beyond that.
I don't know what is happening with the actors, I am way outside of social media platforms, If they receive hate, I do condemn the actions people who send that hate, and hope all will calm down and will work out for them. I have absolutely nothing against the actors themselves.

I don't know where you got the idea that my morals completely depends on fictional characters, quite the opposite, thankfully. I will talk to a professional when I deem so needed, I don't think I asked for an advice?

And no one is asking you to spend your time on even commenting. You are free to pass it by and ignore if you wish so.
