Defending Yoojung? I feel his biggest flaw (and we all have them right? :P) is that he remains silent as a defense…
Man I love this show.
I really liked their conversation at her place in episode 6. It made me think that the similarities they share is that they both DO in order to gain love and approval. I bet that would be incredibly burdensome for anyone and particularly for them, it came with the fear that that effort would and could not bring them a constant kind of love. Seol interpreted it as some people (her brother) just being naturally easier to love while she had to work extra hard to make up for what she thought she lacked. Quite a twisted view of oneself.
Now when he was telling Seol about the expectations his father had of him, it was like he was half-minimizing it (wistfully smiling while saying, "It's not like he forced it"), while barely opening his heart enough to share his own sorrow (was that even intentional or did he get too comfortable) before changing the focus onto her again. That was extremely sad to see. Come to think of it, Seol does the same to Bora.
Well I still think Seol found a healthier way to deal with those scars while Yoo Jung went the opposite way, resorting to manipulation. I can't excuse him completely on this because sometimes, there is true malice behind those eyes. Could it be that he does not know how else to deal with conflict? He said he was expected to hide his anger. I don't mind seeing more flaws from both, to an extent. Flaws are human. I'm actually willing to let go of a lot if I can get in their shoes. But there definitely is a line somewhere.
I think that since the show has put his flaws at the center of its plot, it should deal with it in a proper way. I hope! I have not read the webtoon enough so it's all theory.
This is too confusing! Pls if anyone understands what happened in ep 2 explain to me. Is he connected to the past?…
Yup and milkycoffee is correct. Well, she was supposed to be the 8th attempt but she survived. There still was another murder after her. But now, at least they have a witness they can talk to.
From watching Memories of Murder, seems the entire case was a mess. Tons of people were suspected (apparently over 20k) and many were even tortured into making false confessions. As for the police force, they came up with some of the weirdest superstitions and tactics in order to catch the culprit. It looks silly to us but for them, that's all they knew. As the main character in the movie would say at the beginning of the movie, he thought he could spot a criminal just by looking at them. The scene with the old folks watching the video just shows some of the nonsensical means they used back then.

Very glad you liked it! I wonder what kind of explanation they will provide for the walkie talkie. My small complaint had to do with the calendar and how it was conveniently marked, counting down the days. lol At work of all places. Granted, she was clever enough to distract them, but yea... Regardless, the first episode met my expectations.

I liked it. Small complaint, but only because I was being picky. But so far, it still has my high expectations. It managed to keep up the suspense, which I will be excited about for future episodes.
WARNING! THIS IS A MAJOR SPOILER FOR THE ***ENTIRE*** SERIES! IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND…
I'm with Mina. Despite my love for Bang-ji and Mu-hyul, I'm watching mainly for Lee Bang-won. I actually want to see his continued descent into madness. It's what makes this show so delicious psychologically. Yes, there's also many other aspects about this drama that I love. Particularly, when they all can work together for a common goal. But much of the delight is in seeing Lee Bang-won's cunning mind at work. But I can understand why you may be averse to the news that he eventually ends up the villain. Not everyone likes the villain. Just that personally, I'm fascinated by them when they are done right. I hope you can find a way to find the drama enjoyable despite knowing where the story is headed. I'm sure you will be able to still love on Bang-ji, Mu-hyul and the rest of the crew. After all, this drama so far has been good at balancing the story.
Unfortunately for me, I thought that surely, the writer couldn't be that awful to let the cat die. All I needed to happen was to see that they lived together for a long time. But Bok-gil was barely 8 or so?

I hope your cat has a looong and healthy life.
