Same omg it has already been more than a month and I wish I could rewatch it right now ! Even though I know the…
I feel the exact same π all three main characters are so layered and rich. The dynamics between them were so interesting (especially in hindsight when you get to the end). It really makes me want to go back to Taipei again too! So much vibrance and life. Just such a beautifully made, impactful film.
I watched this movie at a film festival and loved it so much I've been thinking about it ever since. I can't wait until it's on Netflix so I can rewatch it again!!
Wow, this drama...absolutely blew me away. THIS is how you do melodrama. THIS is how you do angst. The yearning, the tension, the storytelling. So beautiful, so poetic. I think the ending is perfect too. It's bittersweet like this whole drama has been. A Shakespearean tragedy, but with the hope of their unbroken love at the end. They did so much with so little. I'm so grateful and proud of the cast and crew. They've done such a phenomenal job. Forever etched in my heart.
Ohk so lots of people are still living under the rock and asking the same questions so let me clear this for you…
It's interesting bc if they had to postpone to redub/resub scenes, it seems more like they're gonna be ADDING scenes rather than editing/cutting anything out. Especially since they released a longer 'spicier' version of the ep 10 NC scene in the Korean version (which will hopefully be available on other platforms soon). I really hope that's the case bc I'm more than happy to wait longer for them to add more π
I read the manhwa ages ago (and loved it!), and I actually really liked the first ep too!! I've been waiting so long for this that it doesn't seem real that it's finally airing now π₯Ή I know the trailer wasn't the greatest, but I'm not sure why people are still convinced that this is a bromance when it's very obviously a BL based on the first ep.
Oh, I feel like this will be a fun one!! My immediate fave is Seong Hyeon bc I love puppy-like, sunshine type characters. Definitely seems like the other three have a really complicated relationship and the first ep has me real intrigued about that whole love triangle...
Every time I think about this drama, I remember how I bawled my EYES out for the last 4 eps of this like a baby π I know it's a long shot, but I hope we can still get a season 2 at some point because the second part of the novel was my absolute FAVE and I would give anything to see Commander Yai and Jom's relationship on screen.
I saw someone describe this movie as a greek tragedy once and they couldn't have been more apt.
It really shows the lengths of what people in desperation will go to. Do the ends really justify the means? Although some characters are more sympathetic than others in this, most of them do despicable things at some point or another due to how hopeless they feel...and it's just a situation in which no one wins. Saw this a few months ago and still haven't been able to stop thinking about it...
One thing P'Boss knows how to do is ramp up the tension and emotion in his works...and from the trailer, I'm intrigued because this definitely looks like it's going to get real messy.
Yotha is getting a dose of social exclusion, the is no point in confronting him because he will just become defensive…
Newton is absolutely implicit in all this too considering he knows what went down between Wa and Yotha. Even if Wa is part owner of the bar too, it's so messy that Newton always just sits there and lets things blow up in front of him knowing that they'll both inevitably meet at the bar. I don't like how they all gang up on Yotha the way they do too.
I do prefer characters and relationships that are more complicated like this too bc of that realism. Though I don't think we're going to get too much more exploration in terms of Wa's motivations (or relationships) since there are only three more eps of Yotha and Gun's arc left.

Fair enough. I can see what you mean with Wa, and I don't think his and Klao's (or even his and Yotha's) relationship is healthy in any way. There definitely feels like an imbalance there. I personally still don't think he's exactly that purposeful with how manipulative he is, but I do think he stirs it up (and enjoys it to a degree)...and that Klao has every right to feel upset that Wa's spending so much time at the bar late especially knowing that his ex hangs around there too. And it WAS really weird to me that he still feels like he has to be responsible for Yotha despite them having broken up years ago (and knowing Klao's feelings on that).

Same! I actually like seeing these different sides to the characters, and knowing they've had other relationships. Definitely makes it feel more realistic. It's so nice seeing Boom in a role like this too!! And based on Yotha and Klao, Wa really does have a type π I haven't read the novel, but supposedly, he's a real flirt and very free spirited in it (which is also why Klao tends to be so insecure in their relationship). His character just strikes me as pretty laid back overall? Like the kiss didn't even faze him all that much so although I don't think he's calculated exactly, it does seem like he doesn't mind the drama either? It actually feels a lot like he and Yotha trauma bonded a little when they were dating and so they still feel a bit dependent on one another despite the breakup (and Wa clearly still feels guilty for ending things with him). It makes their dynamic really fascinating to me.
