If it really follows the book, the story now will focus on their relationship and how Aoey, the crazy fans and the media will affect it.

(Also Gene's father will probably play some important role later on).

But even Gene's narration is a technical element, since it was put there by the scriptwriter. lol But you've got my point

I'm here again just to say that the team behind the show deserves all the recognition for having made such an outstanding and groundbreaking show. It might not be perfect, but it's very close to perfection. Just imagine if there were no censorship and if they could go all the way with the others details from the book!! I give them a standing ovation!

Do you really think that Aoey simply said that to ask for Gene's help? He saw that Sib was interested on Gene and that Gene was somehow corresponding this feeling, that's why he said that, only to provoque Gene and push him away.

Don't be fooled by Aoey's background story. He's just nasty. He doesn't even like Sib. He just want to be famous and prove to his family that he can do whatever he wants.

As Moek implied, he's just problematic. I heard he did pretty nasty and evil things on the novel, but I hope they leave this part out on the series.

Definitely. If I haven't watched the show before, I'd say that Kao was playing Gene (who left Sib) and Up was playing Sib (the one who stayed).

That's what I am trying to say, but people are more focusing on the characters than on the technical aspects. I feel like some people are ok with anything as long as the ML end up kissing and/or having intimacy. Everything is justifiable as long as they have what they want. That's why we have so many problematic shows that portray us - the lgbtq+ community - as fantastic or abusive figures that may only fall in love if through complexity and hate.

Actually, I'm not talking about the characters POV. I'm talking about the team behind the show that choose to put romantic elements in the scenes with the children (here I'm talking about the editing, the music the played whenever they were together, etc). and even the cheek kisses.

it seems like we definitely didn't watch the same thing. Kate and I are not just talking about the children's behavior. We are talking about everything else that was present in these scenes: the cuts, the slowness of the shots, the music playing in the background...

The team didn't really want us to see that as the beginning of a friendship, but as the beginning of a love story. And, yes, we might see this happen with kids in kid garden's age, but here we talking about two kids with absolutely nothing in common and 6 years apart.

That could be understandable if they were the same age - as we've already seen happening in other shows. But we do have to agree with the fact that everything surrounding these scenes were meant to imply that there was romantic feelings between these children. Even in the end, when Gene is writing on the computer, he says that they were resuming a feeling that they had in the past.

But you really didn't think that all the editing and the soundtrack playing in the background when they were together was a little strange? They didn't edit it to show a friendly or brotherly relationship: they played it as the beginning of a romantic relationship. And all this can be proven by the last scene in which Gene narrates the they've resumed what they had when they were younger.

and let's not forget all the cute voice mails and texts....

Definitely gonna watch it again. I watched all the episodes in two days. I didn't even sleep properly. I think they're one of the most beautiful and loving couples we've seen in BLs shows so far.

I just finished watching the 36 episodes + the special and I just can't stop thinking about them.

The Untamed was my very first experience with this type of story (with cultivation and etc) and Wei and Lan definitely have a especial place in my heart, but the way Word of Honor managed to tell this love story is magically beautiful and groundbreaking - there were no kisses, but we could feel that they were a real couple just by the way they looked at eachother. BTW, what a chemistry these two have! I'm still amazed that t passed China's censorship.

I think I'll take some time to process everything I witnessed in this show.

I have to agree with everything you said. It was really uncomfortable to watch not just because of the age gap but also because all the setups around the scenes were probably meant to suggest that there were romantic feelings around there. I really don't understand how they took this turn since the show was following a very strong narrative.

In that situation it would be totally understandable. He was falling apart and totally ghosted on him, so Sib was worried that he could've done something tbh

OMG! You completly described how I am feeling rn. There was such a buildup last week that I thought we were going to see some major developments on the story today. I know the "real drama" is yet to come, yet we were left with too many questions and shallow explanations.

I love this show and I hope they fix it next week.

Also we're feeling this way because there was such a build up on last week's episode that we all thought that the reasons for them to get separated was something really traumatic or so, but when we got the answer it was just... meh... It wasn't enough. it didn't justify the way Gene behaved nor all the silence from Sib while Gene was falling apart.

This episode was a little bit problematic.
