Besides the very realistic portrayal of human relationships and its struggles (especially gay relationships here), this series is giving us a level of maturity in its dialogues and in its characters that we are definitely not used to seeing in Thai BL series. That being said, at this point in the story I'd be totally okay if Torn and Fah grew apart and ended up each following a different path. It would really make sense for me and for the story, since it would still be giving us a fair and realistic portrayal of love and its different sides.
is that really the only thing that isn't making sense for you in this series? lol
No, no. I wasn't talking about your writing. I'm not an English speaker either. You got it totally wrong.
What I meant is that in my opinion the way they're handling Yi and Dao relationship isn't the only thing that is out of place in this series. Got it? There are other things that aren't make sense in the story as well.
Y'all be here saying that people should draw a line between fiction and reality and acting as if these TV series aren't being watched by millions of people around the world, people that often look at these shows and these characters as real representations of the LGBTQI+ community and their relationships.
I have no problem whatsoever with TV series portraying different types of relationships, because not every relationship is healthy (I have never been in one myself and I'm already 30 yo). But you guys are really missing the point here. The question is: Are we really getting to see all the types of relationships being represented by these shows or are we only basically getting the same types over and over?
To every 10 new BL series that come out, 9 are about unhealthy relationship with characters full of self-hate and who often abuse their partners, leaving them emotionally drained and defenseless to the point that the only thing left for them to do is give in and "fall in love".
We, and now I'm talking as a LGBTQ+ person, live under constant attacks and we keep trying to break all these stereotypes that society places upon us. But that's really hard to do when there are all these shows out there that insist on only representing exactly and mainly the stereotypes that our society uses as an excuse to discriminate and diminish us.
I don't think I've seen people this fired up since the TharnType era.
Well, that's because we thought that after many many years of people complaining about Mame's stories, we would never see series in the likes of Secret Crush on You and Cutie Pie being produced by someone that wasn't her.
This is just a tv show I hope you know that. You will forget about this really quick. And after that it will be…
I agree about the first half of your comment, but I completely disagree about the second one.
Yes, if the purpose of you "writing essay about the things you don't like" is just to cause drama and fights, then it's really a waste of time. BUT there's no problem in "writing an essay" about the things you don't like when you are writing it to really point out all the problematic stuffs that can be found in BL series and all the things that could be changed.
I have been watching BL series for a couple of years now and, believe me, if it wasn't for all these "essays" you talk about, we wouldn't ever have gotten series in the likes 1000 Stars, Bad Buddy, You're My Sky, Not Me and so many others. We'd still be stucked to stories such as Love By Chance and Tharntype.
So far both couples are together for the worst possible reasons and it's a bit uncomfortable to watch their exchanging scenes. So far I haven't felt any bit of sympathy for the main couple's story, but I'm hoping for a proper development for them. However, as far as the side couple, I just can't see it working and I have a feeling things are only going to get worse - I have never been a fan of MaxNat ship, especially for the age gap between them, and in this series they've accentuated even more the issues I have with their characters: it's always a mature, older guy who has psychological control over a much younger boy who probably has some kind self-esteem issues or trauma.
Still watching it for NuNew, but the atmosphere is a little heavy for me.
I'm very confused about Teh's (seng) actions (behaviors) and don't know how we'll get to the last episode. It's…
There's nothing likable about the character. He could just be a shy, introverted, insecure guy that doesn't know how to handle his feelings. But he's just coming off as a creepy character who sometimes acts like a sociopath. They really should have toned down the stalkery behavior a bit so we could at least sympathize with the character, but all I can feel is second hand embarrassment. And regarding the side couple, that beach scene left me motionless. Wtf was that? I suffer from depression and the vibes I've got from Jao's behavior was those we see in people who are in deep suffering.
I keep watching hoping that we're gonna see a full character development from both main leads, but... idk... It feels like they've taken one of those nonsensical yaoi novel and turned it into a series exactly as it's written.
I can see that Toh character has issues, but isn't it more interesting to watch someone learn and have a journey?.Once…
Yeah, but are we seeing any character development here? 4 episodes in and it feels like it's getting worse. And how would he ever get better if it looks like Nuea likes him and endorses that behavior?
By far the best Korean BL series ever made. Directing, cinematography, OST, casting, acting... EVERYTHING was FLAWLESS. And they manage to give us an ending full of possibilities, leaving room for a second season after Seo Ham comes back from his mandatory military service.
PS. The respect and appreciation Seo Ham and Jae Chan have for this series and the love they have give us us are something that were yet to be seen among Korean actors who have made BL series. They truly embraced their characters, the story and, most of, all the love coming from the audience.
I'll be looking forward to 2024 and I wish both Sem Ham and Jae Chan good health, all the success in the world and a everlasting friendship.
for me, having an opened ending is just something that I'm used to with dramas and I don't mind all that much,…
And that's why I don't want this one to have that kind of open ending. It's too perfect. I don't want it to be ruined. I hope the open ending that Seo Ham was talking about is a happy kind of open endings.

1: a proper character development from both Toh and Nuae, because both of them are a little bit coco
2: that neither i nor any of my friends will ever go through something like that in our lives
